Jordanian dates in 'high demand' at Souq Waqif Date Exhibition
AMMAN — The Third Souq Waqif International Dates Exhibition, currently held in Doha, is experiencing a "notable" surge in interest for Jordanian dates, which are featured by a variety of exhibitors.
These dates are displayed by several participating companies, highlighting the broad appeal of the national product at this event, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The exhibition offers an opportunity for purchasing various kinds of dates ahead of Ramadan.
Exhibition General Supervisor Khalid Suwaidi stressed that the exhibition not only aims to provide consumers with access to variety of dates, but also supports producers and traders in expanding their market reach.
Suwaidi also referred to the exhibition's "success" in reflecting the growth and development of the date industry, as well as the increasing commitment of producers to offer "high-quality" dates that can compete with international brands.
The exhibition has provided a platform for exhibitors and visitors, facilitating interactions between producers, suppliers and consumers, while showcasing the latest innovations in date production.

U.S. customs tariffs give Jordan 'competitive' edge-Minister
Ammon News - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah said additional U.S. customs tariffs have given Jordan "a competitive" advantage. The minister noted when 15% duties are imposed on Jordan, other countries competing in the U.S. market face higher rates, which enhances the "competitive" advantage of Jordanian products. In a statement to Al Mamlaka TV Friday evening, he stated Jordan has entered into negotiations with the United States over the past few months and obtained the lowest rate of customs duty increases globally that have free trade agreements with the United States or with a trade surplus. The Jordan-U.S. free trade agreement provided this "preferential advantage," he said, indicating that the customs duties imposed on most countries across the world ranged between 15%-40%, while Jordan obtained the lowest rate. Qudah indicated that the tariffs previously imposed on Jordan were "zero" and are now 15%. For other countries, the new tariffs are added to the previous duties, which has "clearly made a positive difference in Jordan's favor in many sectors and has contributed to enhancing its competitiveness."

Egypt: "Energos Force" ship arrives in Jordan for Arab gas pipeline connection
Ammon News - The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced the arrival of the floating regasification unit "Energos Force" at the Jordanian port of Aqaba as part of its plan to secure energy and enhance regional cooperation. In a statement on Saturday morning, the ministry said that the ship will be connected to the Arab Gas Pipeline network to begin regasification operations for liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments, depending on operational requirements and load conditions on the national gas grid. This step, according to the ministry, comes within the framework of the ministry's strategy to increase production and secure the country's energy needs, and as a continuation of the integrated and proactive plan to diversify the national grid's natural gas inputs, thus enhancing the ability to meet local market needs and achieving greater flexibility in operational plans. The ministry confirmed the close and ongoing cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in the energy sector, reflecting regional integration and the shared benefit from the available infrastructure between the two sides. Additionally, the ministry stressed that the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) has signed a contract with the floating regasification unit as part of an integrated system aimed at ensuring gas supplies to the local market and vital sectors, most notably electricity and industry, especially during peak consumption periods, while taking into account the diversification of national grid inputs and the rapid response to any emergencies or developments.
