American Idol season 23
started its episode this week with some rock n' roll. The 14 contestants had to perform hits by singers inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. From Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock to Michael Jackson's I Can't Help It, the episode featured several memorable renditions. Two contestants were eliminated from the show, bringing the number of performers down to 12.

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees were also revealed on the show. Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Chubby Checker, Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Soundgarden and The White Stripes made it to the list.
Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood did not have any role in the selection of the American Idol 2025 Top 12. This time, fans only had the length of the episode to try and save their favourite performer from elimination.

What happened on American Idol 2025?
This episode of American Idol season 23 began with Carrie Underwood performing Heart's Alone. She had crooned the track 20 years ago when she was a contestant on the singing reality show. She showed up in a red bandana inspired by Guns n' Roses, whom she considers 'the greatest band of all time with the greatest frontman of all time.'

The contestants were mentored by James Taylor as they crooned iconic rock tracks. Filo opened the night's performances with his rendition of The Beatles' With a Little Help From My Friends. John Foster performed Jailhouse Rock and managed to bring in something new to his version, earning a lot of praise from the judges.
Canaan James Hill earned a standing ovation from the judges after she sang Aretha Franklin's Mary Don't You Weep. Kolbi Jordan's rendition of You're All I Need to Get By earned a big shoutout from Taylor himself, who said he could listen to her all day.
Who was eliminated from American Idol 2025?
According to host Ryan Seacrest, the contestants who received the lowest number of votes were Amanda Barise and Desmond Roberts. They were eliminated from the competition.

American Idol 2025: How to vote
The next episode of American Idol 2025 will air on Monday, April 28. Viewers can vote via the show's app, available on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. They can also go to ABC's website to vote for their favourite American Idol 2025 contestant or text the performer's unique code to 21523.
Fans can cast a maximum of 10 votes for each of their favourite singers on each medium or 30 votes per performer.
