Netflix's 2025 K-drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, is perfect for fans of fast-paced medical dramas like Grey's Anatomy and The Pitt. Based on the popular webcomic Trauma Center: Golden Hour, Netflix's first original medical K-drama follows genius surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk (Ju Ji-hoon), who sets out to revamp the trauma center at a prestigious Seoul hospital. After its release on January 24, 2025, the eight-episode series became an instant hit, quickly landing among Netflix's Top 10 most-watched shows in the U.S.
To fill out the cast of the show's hospital personnel, the streaming giant gathered a cast of veteran Korean actors and up-and-coming stars, including many familiar faces for fans of Netflix K-dramas. Read on to learn more about the cast of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.
At the start of The Trauma Code, Baek Kang-hyuk is a trauma surgeon working in war-torn areas overseas and then takes a job at Hankuk National University Hospital. Though many of his new colleagues judge him for his lack of manners or pedigree, he's an extraordinarily skilled physician who truly cares for his patients.
Ju Ji-hoon, 42, began his career as a model and actor, before his breakout role in the 2006 romance K-drama Princess Hours. His best-known projects include the high-grossing film franchise Along with the Gods and the Netflix historical K-drama Kingdom. In 2024, he starred in three K-dramas: the rom-com Love Your Enemy and the Hulu K-dramas Blood Free and Light Shop.
Yang Jae-won is a talented fellow in the colorectal surgery department, who happens to be on call for the trauma department on Kang-hyuk's first day. After a dramatic day of treating patients, Jae-won has to decide whether to transfer to the trauma center and become Kang-hyuk's mentee, or stick with the cushy, low-stress world of proctology.
Choo Young-woo, 25, studied at Korea National University of the Arts and made his acting debut in 2021, with lead roles in both the web BL series You Make Me Dance and the youth drama School 2021. He's since appeared in the dramas Once Upon a Small Town, Oasis, and The Tale of Lady Ok, in which he co-starred alongside The Glory's Lim Ji-yeon. Next, Choo will star in the fantasy romance drama Gyeon Woo and Fairy and the Netflix crime drama Mercy for None.
Cheon Jang-mi is a trauma nurse with five years of experience who joins Kang-hyuk's new team. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar Korea (translated by Soompi), Ha describes her character as someone who "does whatever it takes to ensure the trauma center's survival."
Ha Young, 31, began her career as a model before transitioning to acting with the 2019 drama Doctor Prisoner. She has since appeared in supporting roles in K-dramas like Mouse, Now, We Are Breaking Up, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and Face Me. She first worked with Netflix on the 2023 romance drama Doona!.
Park Gyeong-won is a skilled anesthesiology resident who catches Kang-hyuk's attention on his first day. He's also friends with Jae-won.
Jeong Jae-kwang, 34, is an actor and model who made his TV debuts with the 2017 thriller K-drama Save Me. He has appeared in several popular K-dramas, including The Fiery Priest, It's Okay to Not Be Okay, Nevertheless, My Perfect Stranger, Queen Woo, and Gangnam B-Side.
Han Yu-rim is Jae-won's advisor in the colorectal department and the general surgery department chair, who takes arrogant pride in his credentials. His automatic disdain towards Kang-hyuk grows after the newcomer "steals" Jae-won.
Yoon Kyung-ho, 44, is a familiar face to fans of Korean entertainment, as he's held supporting roles over his 20-plus year career. His most notable credits include the films Okja, The Battleship Island, Juror 8, Honest Candidate, Seoul Vibe, and Love Reset; as well as the K-dramas Goblin, Mr. Sunshine, Confession, Itaewon Class, My Name, All of Us Are Dead, Green Mother's Club, Cleaning Up, and The Worst of Evil.
Kim Won-hae, 55, plays Hong Jae-hun, an infectious disease specialist and the hospital's director of planning and coordination. The prolific film and K-drama actor has appeared in some of Korea's highest-grossing movies, including Sunny, The Admiral: Roaring Currents, The Pirates, A Violent Prosecutor, and The Battleship Island. On TV, he's best known for being a cast member on the first four seasons of Saturday Night Live: Korea, as well as his roles in Signal, Strong Woman Do Bong-soon, Life, The Fiery Priest, The Good Bad Mother, and Lovely Runner.
Choi Jo-eun is Hankuk's director, who is more concerned with the hospital's business interests than the patients' care.
Kim Eui-sung, 59, is a prolific actor who began his career in the 1990s and has appeared in dozens of popular movies. He previously won a prestigious Baeksang Arts Award for his role as the selfish businessman Yong Suk in the Korean horror movie Train to Busan. On the K-drama side, he's best known for the shows W, Mr. Sunshine, Arthdal Chronicles, Taxi Driver, and Under the Queen's Umbrella.
Kang Myeong-hui is South Korea's Minister of Health and Welfare and recommends Kang-hyuk for Hunkuk's trauma surgeon position to help revamp the department.
Kim Sun-young, 48, is a prolific stage and screen actress who many Netflix K-drama fans will recognize. She's best known for her roles in Reply 1988, Because This Is My First Life, Romance is a Bonus Book, Her Private Life, When the Camellia Blooms, Crash Landing on You, Crash Course in Romance, Queenmaker, Queen of Divorce, and A Virtuous Business.

Set in a Pittsburgh emergency room, the HBO Max series "The Pitt" just won the prestigious Gotham TV Award for Breakthrough Drama Series. The show is not your average medical drama. Its creators, stars and producers are dedicated to real-world accuracy. From the first frame of the video, there is no doubt where you are, as viewers see an Allegheny Health Network helicopter landing at Allegheny General on Pittsburgh's North Side, with star Noah Wylie as Dr. Robbie, waiting for a patient. "They have done an extraordinary job; they have emergency medicine physicians on set at all times," said Dr. Sylvia Owusu-Ansah with UPMC Children's pediatric emergency medicine. "The Pitt" has earned critical aclaim from medical professionals, and not just for the accuracy in how they handle complex medical language and procedures, but also for the topics they tackle, in part because they went to doctors like Owusu-Ansah, starting with a question: What storylines have not been told that need to be when it comes to medical dramas? "My particular story was a teenager who was in sickle cell crisis, but was thought to be "aggressive and agitated." Dr. Sylvia described the scene as "spot on," and showrunners brought her to Hollywood for a sit-down to pick her brain. "I turned the corner, and Noah Wylie was there, and I almost passed out. I was not expecting him to be there," Dr. Owusu-Ansah said. But the meeting ended up spawning varying diagnostic scenes. "Marijuana or marijuana edibles are very accessible nowadays. We're also seeing that intoxication in children," she said. Dr. Owusu-Ansah is also why the Hill District's Freedom House Ambulance Service, the beginning of emergency medicine, was featured in episode eight. "I told them that this story needs to be told, and sure enough, they told it," she added. She says that the show's success is grounded in listening. "It's just incredible how accurate they are, how intentional they are, and how they really acknowledge our medical expertise and take that, and that's what's made the show what it is today." Dr. Owusu-Ansah doesn't know what other experiences of hers will make their way into the show, but there are others that the producers and writers were very interested in. The show's second season just started filming, and they are coming back for more filming in Pittsburgh, possibly in September.

Netflix secures broadcast rights for Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford boxing mega-fight

The biggest boxing fight of 2025 has found a home on the biggest streaming service in the world. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, the Sept. 13 mega-fight between pound-for-pound greats for the sport's undisputed super middleweight titles, will be streamed globally by Netflix at no additional cost to its subscribers, Turki Alalshikh announced Tuesday. Advertisement In a major victory for the sport, Alvarez vs. Crawford becomes the third boxing event over a span of just 10 months to stream on the Netflix platform, which boasts more than 300 million global subscribers. The controversial Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul heavyweight fight became the first boxing event on Netflix this past November, ultimately being watched by an audience exceeding 65 million viewers. Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 2 was the co-feature on that night, and now the two future Hall of Famers are set to headline Netflix's second boxing event with their trilogy fight on July 11 in New York. Additionally, Alalshikh said that Alvarez vs. Crawford will take place in Las Vegas but did not name a venue. Allegiant Stadium was originally supposed to host Alvarez vs. Crawford on Sept. 12, however once the date of the fight changed to Sept. 13, it was unable to do so, as the venue had a preexisting booking with the UNLV Rebels vs. Idaho State college football game. Advertisement It was then announced that Saudi-owned Sela would be the lead promoter for the highly anticipated 168-pound showdown instead of TKO Boxing — the latter being an entity formed by Alalshikh, UFC CEO Dana White and WWE president Nick Khan earlier this year. White and the UFC faced a dilemma when the date shifted from Sept. 12 to Sept. 13, as the UFC had already committed to promoting its Noche UFC 3 event on that date. However, construction delays at Mexico's Arena Guadalajara forced the show to be moved to San Antonio and become a Fight Night event rather than the originally-planned pay-per-view card. After this happened, White was able to commit to Alvarez vs. Crawford again, and thus TKO will be the lead promoter for the event. Allegiant Stadium is also understood to be back in play to host the show, with a potential deal in the works to shift the UNLV football game off the date. Alvarez and Crawford will come face-to-face for a three-city press tour beginning on June 20 in Riyadh, then on June 22 in New York, before concluding June 27 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

‘Too Much' Trailer: Lena Dunham Directs Semi-Autobiographical Rom-Com Starring Megan Stalter

Girls creator and star Lena Dunham is back with a television series, but this time she's behind the camera rather than onscreen in Netflix's Too Much. The rom-com series, starring Megan Stalter, arrives on the streaming service on July 10. In the official trailer for the show, thirtysomething Jessica (Stalter) is looking for adventure, leaving her life in New York for London. But when she gets there, it's not as glamorous as she envisioned like 'British Jones Diaries' she tells love interest Felix (Will Sharpe) mistakenly referencing the Bridget Jones film and book franchise (Felix makes a Love Actually reference, which is apt as that film's producers are also involved in the series). Felix is also deemed a 'walking series of red flags.' Still, the spark can't be ignored, and their relationship, whatever form it ends up taking, appears to grow in the clip.
