Huge 90s band Ace Of Base now from Eurovision failure to extremist gang regrets

From being involved in a far-right extremist gang to failing to qualify for Eurovision, the members of hit 90s group Ace of Base have been on quite the journey during their lifetime... Behind some of the best Europop songs of the 90s, Ace of Base have had a wild history. From humble beginnings in Sweden to gangland threats and even an unsuccessful Eurovision attempt, their story has everything... The Scandinavian electro-pop group was first formed in 1987 in Gothenberg, and was made up of siblings Jonas, Linn and Jenny Berggren with the quartet then being completed with founding member Ulf Ekberg. ‌ The group began working their way around the clubs of the Swedish city but struggled to take off, with heavy metal being the go-to for Swedes at the time, a far cry from the techno sound. But, after the release of the single Wheel of Fortune broke them into the charts, their next release, All that She Wants, would make them a hit across the world, as the track became certified platinum topping the UK charts for three weeks straight in 1993. ‌ They would continue to build on their success with hits like The Sign, becoming staples of clubs across the world in the early 90s. But, just as quickly as they shot to fame, they would as quickly disappear into obscurity. The group were last seen in a series of concerts between 2007 and 2009 as a trio without Linn, but since then the band's original members have all gone down some very different paths: ‌ Jenny Berggren After leaving the band in the late 00s, Jenny was the only member to continue recording music with a solo career, as well as turning to writing. In 2009 she published her autobiography, Vinna hela världen, and although an English version translated to 'To Win the World' was due to be released, it never came to fruition. In 2010 she released her first single, Here I Am, which only reached 14 on the Swedish charts before releasing her second single, Gotta Go, and her first album My Story that same year. The same year she was in the running to be the Danish contestant for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with her song, Let Your Heart B Mine, but she failed to get through and gain the nomination for the country to go to the event. She also appeared alongside Ulf in the 2024 for the Ace of Base: All That She Wants documentary looking at the band's story. In the show, she also recounts a scary experience when a fan broke into her home and held a knife to her throat in the early '90s ‌ Speaking to People about the ordeal, she said: 'I think that was when the star was born in me. I wanted to sing. I had to calculate with all the dangers, and I just realised, 'No, I want to sing. This is what I want'.' Ulf Ekberg Founder Ulf Ekberg has found himself working with and trying to grow tech start ups in Sweden. Speaking to ABC, the former musician said: "There's so many tech companies in Sweden, especially Stockholm. "I'm interested in creating a sector in technology and music. I'm building companies, and it's been a fantastic last five years. It feels like everything is exploding here. We are in a lot of different sectors, but we try to keep it to the creative sectors as much as possible; movies, TV, music and entertainment, which are obviously very close to my heart." ‌ In last year's documentary, Ulf also talks about his involvement with the far-right extremist gang in Sweden as a teenager, something that has shown his deep regret for. In the People interview, he added: 'I think it's a very important topic to talk about because it is a very angry world we live in right now. It's much more angry than when I was a teenager. 'I hope that maybe that part of this documentary can show that even if you are completely lost, you can always find your way and it's never too late — which, I was blessed with a second chance in my life." Jonas and Linn Berggren Since the end of the band, two have stepped back away from the public eye with Linn in particular staying away from the spotlight of fame. Jonas made a very brief appearance at an event covered at the end of the documentary, while Linn chose to write a letter which Jenny reads in the final episode. The band however did come back together for a one-off reunion on their 30th anniversary. To the delight of many fans, they came back to headline the 90s Nostalgic Electric Circus festival in Canada dressed up in black lace and flower-inspired outfits.

Scottie Scheffler's son Bennett suffers hilarious bathroom mishap as golf star wins Memorial Tournament

Scottie Scheffler secured yet another $4million payday with victory at the Memorial Tournament - but the world No 1 was quickly brought back down to earth by his son Bennett. Scheffler won by four stokes at Muirfield Village before being handed his one-year-old son, who had an unfortunate brown stain on his clothes. 'He has poop all over his back,' the golf star's wife Meredith can be heard telling Scheffler in hilarious footage. 'That'll happen,' the world No 1 says with a smile before inspecting the damage. The stain was also visible when Scheffler conducted a post-round interview with CBS reporter Amanda Balionis. Balionis uploaded a photograph of their interview on to social media and wrote alongside the post: 'Sorry Bennett about posting your blowout... mom and dad can use this as blackmail when you're older' Scheffler had to fight back tears during their interview, when he was asked about Meredith's support in his bid to be a better golfer, father and husband. Winning with family ❤️🥹 — Golf on CBS ⛳ (@GolfonCBS) June 1, 2025 The stain was also visible when Scheffler conducted an interview with CBS' Amanda Balionis 'You're really trying to make me emotional now,' a choked-up Scheffler said while holding Bennett in his arms. 'My wife is my biggest supporter, she's my best friend... I definitely couldn't do it without her.' A few minutes earlier, Meredith had told Scheffler that Bennett had 'so much fun' watching his final round, when he joined Tiger Woods as the only repeat winners of the Memorial. Scheffler underwent hand surgery at the start of the year after a freak cooking accident. But he now appears to be back to his best, with the PGA Championship already in the bag and another major around the corner at the U.S. Open. 'It's always a hard week,' said Scheffler, who finished at 10-under 278. 'We battled really hard on the weekend. Overall it was a great week.' On one of the tougher PGA Tour tests of the year, Scheffler made one bogey over the final 40 holes at Muirfield Village. 'Well, you did it again,' tournament host Jack Nicklaus told him walking off the green. Scheffler has now won three of his past four tournaments.

The latest series of Clarkson's Farm is being released in stages, with its eight-episode run spread over three weeks. The first four episodes were available on Amazon Prime Video from last Friday, and this week saw the release of two more instalments, Endgaming and Splurging, from the gripping fourth series. ‌ In the initial four episodes, viewers said goodbye to fan favourite Kaleb Cooper who set off on a national stand-up tour, leaving Jeremy in need of extra help at the farm. ‌ Enter Harriet Cowan, 24, the latest recruit at Diddly Squat Farm, reports Gloucestershire Live. Originally from Derbyshire, Harriet made an immediate impact at Clarkson's Oxfordshire farmstead by tidying up, fixing broken machinery, and even grooming Clarkson's unruly eyebrows – all documented on her TikTok account. Despite only appearing in a few episodes, Harriet quickly won over fans, although her time on the show was brief, ending when Kaleb's return caused tension. ‌ Following some tense exchanges after Kaleb's comeback, Harriet took to her rapidly growing Instagram account to make a heartfelt plea to viewers. Her heartfelt message struck a chord: "Please can everyone remember to be kind we are all human and your words matter." After her stellar appearance on the Amazon Prime Video series, Harriet's fans rushed to support her. One said: "Petition to get Harriet on Clarkson's Farm full time." Another commented: "Finally! ! Someone's going to sort Jeremy's eyebrows! So much love for that." ‌ The heartfelt praise continued as someone else wrote: "Just watched the first two episodes and WE LOVE HARRIET! ! ! Still love Kaleb. She is also hilarious! A welcome addition and an inspiration for my daughter watching with me. Well done.!". In the sweet moment on screen, she said goodbye to Jeremy, who said she had been a lifesaver. "You saved my life. So, if we get stuck again, can we give you a call?," he asked the trained nurse. However, as it stands, there are "no plans" that she will appear again in this series of Clarkson's Farm, or any potential future ones - sources close to the show have previously revealed. Since finishing her time on Clarkson's Farm, Harriet has jetted off with her friends to Spain to enjoy a break in the sunshine. She ditched the wellies, grabbed a bucket hat and a blue bikini, and spent some much-needed time away from the farm relaxing poolside - and shared a few snaps from her time away. Clarkson's Farm finale for season 4, featuring episodes Hurrying and Landlording, is set to broadcast on Friday, June 6. Although slated for a fifth series, Jeremy has announced they'll be taking a breather after season 5 concludes their five-year relentless run of filming on the farm.
