Trump expresses "disappointment" over failure to reach peace agreement between Russia, Ukraine

Saba Yemena day ago

Washington - Saba:
US President Donald Trump has expressed his disappointment over the failure to reach an agreement to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the actions of both parties in this regard.
Trump said in press statements on Thursday at a White House event, commenting on the failure to reach an agreement between the two parties to resolve the conflict: "I'm very familiar with this situation. I'm disappointed with Russia, but I'm also disappointed with Ukraine. I'm sorry that this has not been resolved yet."
Trump had previously confirmed that Russia was ready to conclude an agreement to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, and that an agreement with Volodymyr Zelensky remained. Later, Trump stated that he had set a deadline for concluding a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine and expressed his optimism about the possibility of ending the Ukrainian conflict.
The Russian and American presidents held two phone calls. On February 12, President Putin discussed the Ukrainian issue with his American counterpart, as well as the accumulated problems in relations between the two countries. The two presidents agreed to continue contacts, including arranging personal meetings.
A phone call also took place on March 18. During the conversation, issues of settlement in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as bilateral relations, were discussed.
President Putin then expressed his support for Trump's idea for a ceasefire in Ukraine, but with some reservations. He immediately ordered a halt to strikes on energy facilities, despite no response to the initiative from the Kyiv regime.

Baghaei: Tehran's decision to participate in next round of talks unclear

Tehran - Saba: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has stressed that it is unreasonable for Iran to wage such a war in the region without coordination or a green light from the United States, saying: "It is still unclear what decision we will make on Sunday regarding the next round of negotiations in this regard." Regarding Iran's decision to participate in the next round of negotiations with the United States despite the Zionist regime's aggression on the country, Baghaei said, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA on Saturday: "The other side has emptied the negotiations of their meaning. You cannot simultaneously claim to be negotiating and engaging in dialogue to reach an understanding on an issue, while simultaneously dividing labor and allowing a racist regime to violate the country's territorial integrity." Baghhaei emphasized that Iran held the US government responsible for the consequences and repercussions of this ill-considered and illegal measure taken by the Zionist regime. He said: "It is still unclear what decision we will make on Sunday in this regard." He added: "The Zionist entity has always strived to drag Western countries into conflict and involvement in the region, and it appears to have succeeded this time as well, somehow influencing the diplomatic process with this adventure. This, in fact, demonstrates that American decision-makers are still deeply influenced by this entity." It is worth noting that the Zionist entity launched attacks on areas in Tehran and other cities across the country at dawn on Friday, and several residential buildings were bombed in these attacks. These attacks martyred the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Hossein Salami; the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri; the Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh; the Member of Parliament and former Head of the Atomic Energy Organization, Fereydoun Abbasi; the Commander of the Khatam al-Anbia (PBUH) Headquarters, Major General Gholam Ali Rashid; and the nuclear scientist and President of Azadi University, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi. Polyansky: Israel's provocation of Iran could have very serious consequences

New York - Saba: Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky said that Israel's provocation of Iran could have very serious consequences at the international level. Polyansky indicated, according to RT, that Russia fully supports Tehran's position that such an attack is inadmissible. The Russian diplomat emphasized "This is absolutely unacceptable, and no one should be allowed to behave the way "Israel" is. This is a complete disregard for international law and a very dangerous provocation of these norms and everything that truly preserves the integrity of our world."
