Chiefs DE Janarius Robinson out with fractured foot
Head coach Andy Reid confirmed the injury on Monday but did not provide a timeline for Robinson's return.
Likely in a related move, the Chiefs signed defensive end Nate Matlack ahead of Monday morning's practice.
Robinson, 26, sacked Cardinals quarterback Clayton Tune for a 9-yard loss in Saturday's 20-17 defeat in Glendale, Ariz.
A fourth-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2021, Robinson signed with the Chiefs in April. He played in 16 games (three starts) for the Las Vegas Raiders from 2023-24, recording 1.5 sacks and 13 tackles.
The Chiefs also lost safety Deon Bush to a torn Achilles on Saturday. Kansas City is also dealing with injuries to wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown (ankle), cornerback Jaylen Watson (concussion protocol), offensive lineman Ethan Driskell (appendectomy) and tight end Jake Briningstool (hamstring).

Alexander Isak refuses to play for Newcastle again in bid to force through Liverpool transfer
Alexander Isak's agent has told Newcastle United he does not want to play for the club again as the striker looks to force through a move to Liverpool. That was the catalyst behind manager Eddie Howe's decision to order Isak to train alone and his admission last weekend that the player is not in the right frame of mind to be considered for selection. Despite the threats to go on strike, Newcastle are yet to receive an official transfer request from the player, which would be the next logical step if Isak is adamant he has played his last game for the club – although that could change in the coming days. Despite his poor attitude and behaviour, Newcastle have chosen not to fine the player for his actions, something they would be entitled to do if he was refusing to play. They are also baffled by the threat that he will not play for the club again, even if he is denied a move to Liverpool, given he is under contract for another three years and there is a World Cup next summer in which he will hope to play for Sweden. In a fresh development on Tuesday morning, Newcastle announced they had allocated Isak his usual number 14 squad number for the upcoming season, in another sign they intend to stick to their position that last season's top goalscorer is not for sale. Howe was as diplomatic as he could be when asked about Isak's future last weekend, hinting that the player is refusing to participate in training or games, without explicitly saying it. Instead, he claimed the player was not in the right frame of mind to be involved, as much as he would like him to be. Rather than blame Isak, Newcastle are pointing the finger at the player's representatives for the latest move to try to force them to sell against their wishes. Newcastle have maintained a steadfast position all summer that the 25-year-old is not for sale, but have been forced to at least consider the terms for his departure in light of the striker's volatile behaviour. A senior source told Telegraph Sport over the weekend that the only way they could allow Isak to leave is if Liverpool make a bid in the region of £150m and they are able to sign two strikers of suitable quality to replace him. The main issue is Newcastle's recruitment team – having missed out on Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko – do not believe there are two strikers on the market who meet their needs. Liverpool have also intimated they will not offer that sort of money for a player they know is desperate to join them. Newcastle continue to be frustrated in their attempts to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford, but he was always seen as a replacement for Callum Wilson who left earlier this summer. They are also interested in signing Leicester City's Bilal El Khannouss and Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey, but neither are linked to the Isak's situation. As a result, Newcastle continue to insist Isak is not for sale with one source on Sunday evening insisting the 'transfer is completely off the table'. That may well have sparked a fresh offensive from Isak's camp to try to alter that stance. Liverpool had a bid worth around £110m rejected more than a week ago, the strength of the rebuttal prompting a briefing they would not return with an improved offer unless they were encouraged to do so by Newcastle. They are yet to receive any encouragement from the Magpies hierarchy who, led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, are determined not to be bullied by a rival club or the player or his agent. The deadlock is set to continue and there was little sign of an imminent shift in Newcastle's position despite Isak's behaviour. Isak has still not said a word in public about his desire to leave the club, suggesting he is still keeping his options open in case he is not allowed to leave. WHAT A HIT! ☄️ Alexander Isak, that is special. Newcastle lead Liverpool! #PLonPrime #NEWLIV — Amazon Prime Video Sport (@primevideosport) December 4, 2024 It is a messy situation for Newcastle and Howe, who has been told he will have to find a way to reintegrate Isak if he remains on Tyneside at the end of the transfer window. What sort of player Isak will be if that happens remains to be seen and the damage done to his reputation on Tyneside is severe. Supporters are furious at what they perceive to be a lack of loyalty and appreciation for everything they – and Howe – have given Isak in the three years he has been at St James' Park. The club's former captain, Alan Shearer, has been damning in his assessment of the situation. 'Newcastle's pre-season has been a nightmare,' he said in his BBC column. 'They have had a disastrous transfer window, missing out on every one of their top targets, and on top of that they have got Isak's situation hanging over them. 'One way or another they have to resolve it, but that won't be easy. Isak wants to leave St James' Park and join Liverpool, but he cannot be sold if they don't get anyone in to replace him. It's not just one new striker Newcastle needs. Callum Wilson moved on so the reality is that if they don't get two centre-forwards in, Isak does not go anywhere. 'That is still a possible scenario and, if he is still at Newcastle when the window closes, things get interesting because he will want to play – he could be playing for his World Cup place with Sweden. There are a lot of ifs, buts and maybes surrounding Isak, but over the next two or three weeks we will find out a lot more about how things could pan out.'

Tom Brady names the NFL quarterback who is most like him
did not have to think hard to determine which current NFL quarterback is most like him, as he selected a former foe who he has shown massive respect to in previous instances - Patrick Mahomes. Some of the greatest battles for Mahomes during his rise to superstardom came against Brady, including the 2018 AFC Championship Game, the first of the current streak of seven straight appearances in that playoff contest for the Kansas City Chiefs. Brady and Mahomes also faced off in the pandemic-era Super Bowl in February 2021, with the then-Buccaneers quarterback winning his seventh and final ring. In retirement, Brady has given Mahomes plenty of kudos, with his most recent chat being no exception. 'It's always that line about who wants to win versus who's willing to do whatever it takes to win,' Brady said to Joel Klatt. 'Everyone wants to win, but what are the habits and the daily habits and the actionable things you need to do every day to put your team in a position to win?' 'So Patrick Mahomes, to me, is the one that does that the most often because who he is, obviously his physical talent, how he understands what he needs to do offensively, and he brings a consistent winning attitude to work every single day. In the biggest moments you can depend on him the most. That's clear.' Brady did mention that others were close to getting to a place where he could consider them on his career path, without mentioning specific names, but no one matched Mahomes' resume. 'There's other guys that are still developing, and they need to prove it before, in my mind, I can say, "Oh yeah, he's done it." Well, obviously, he hasn't done it yet,' Brady said. 'They've all shown flashes of amazing things. They're all great players. All of them can make tremendous plays. At some point, they need to take the next step and take, in my mind, more ownership of what they're doing, in terms of the organizational level, to do more things to empower more people, to get more people on that train or that bus with you to head in the direction you want to go.' Mahomes is currently four Super Bowl rings and five appearances in the NFL's championship game behind Brady, with arguably half his career behind him. The Chiefs will be favored to make a splash again this season after being denied a three-peat by the Philadelphia Eagles several months ago.

Thunder headlining NBA's opening night, Christmas schedule for this season
The Oklahoma City Thunder felt slighted last season when they were left off the NBA's Christmas schedule. That won't be an issue this year. MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the NBA champion Thunder will be working at home for Christmas this season, playing host to Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs as part of the league's annual Dec. 25 quintupleheader. The other Christmas games, released by the NBA on Tuesday: Cleveland at New York, Houston at LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and Dallas visiting Golden State, and Minnesota playing at Denver. Some NBA Cup games are scheduled to be released Wednesday and the full schedule — 80 of the 82 games for all teams — is to be released on Thursday. The remaining two games for each club will be filled in December based on how teams fare in the NBA Cup. 'They make the schedule. We play it,' Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said last season, when asked about his club not being picked for the Dec. 25 lineup. 'Our players, I know, would have liked to play on Christmas because that's such a staple day in the NBA season. But we can't control that.' Well, they sort of did control their Christmas scheduling fate this season. The NBA champions typically get invited to play on Christmas the following season; Oklahoma City beat Indiana in a seven-game NBA Finals last season. The Eastern Conference champion Pacers are among the Christmas snubs this year, after losing Tyrese Haliburton to an Achilles tear that will sideline him for the entirety of this season and seeing Myles Turner opt to sign with Milwaukee in free agency. The Knicks will be playing their 58th Christmas game, extending their NBA record. The first Christmas game in league history was at Madison Square Garden in 1947. Boston, Philadelphia and Phoenix played on Christmas last season and didn't make the Dec. 25 cut this season, replaced by Cleveland (which was the East's No. 1 seed), Houston (which landed Kevin Durant in an offseason blockbuster from the Suns) and the Thunder. Cleveland and the Thunder are playing on Christmas for the first time since 2018. The Rockets have a Christmas game for the first time since 2019. James, if he plays on the holiday, will be making his 20th Christmas appearance in his record 23 NBA season. Only 12 NBA franchises have 20 Christmas games, and James could soon have that many as a player. And it'll be a big NBA holiday in Texas: All three of the state's teams are playing on Christmas for the first time. Opening night NBC's return to the NBA broadcast world officially starts with opening night on Oct. 21, when the Thunder will receive their championship rings before playing host to Durant and the Rockets in the first game of the season. That will be followed by Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Golden State taking on James, Luka Doncic and the Lakers in the second game of the NBC doubleheader. Those are the only two games on opening night. MLK Day Peacock and NBC will have four games on Jan. 19, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The matchups: Milwaukee at Atlanta on Peacock at 1 p.m. Eastern, followed by three games on NBC: Oklahoma City at Cleveland at 2:30 p.m. Eastern, Dallas at New York at 5 p.m. Eastern and Boston at Detroit at 8 p.m. Eastern. Memphis, which typically plays on the holiday, is not this season. The Grizzlies will be returning from Europe, after facing Orlando on Jan. 15 in Berlin and Jan. 18 in London. ___
