"That's where this is going": Dave Meltzer doesn't hold back on the future of WWE
Dave Meltzer (Image via YouTube)
Dave Meltzer is a renowned name in the world of wrestling, having been associated with it for decades. The sports historian and wrestling journalist has been the publisher and editor of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, known to everyone as WON, since 1983, and has made his reputation into something revered, especially in the world of sports journalism.
So when he shares his opinion, it's bound to have listeners. And his latest take on how advertising is taking over wrestling is one of those.
Dave Meltzer's take on
advertising in WWE
Dave Meltzer says it like he sees it. He has not been called "the most accomplished reporter in sports journalism" just because he can cover a story well. He has been in this industry for long enough to know when and how things begin to make an impact. And recently, he spoke of how advertising is becoming a big part of
WWE
, maybe more than it should. A recent post on his dirtsheet read:
'I expect ads on ring gear soon.
Seriously. That's not a joke. That's where this is going. There's no limit to it. If there's a blank space on screen, TKO wants to monetize it.'
With the way TKO Holdings has been monetizing the
WWE
is something quite a few people have spoken about. The parent company that runs the WWE is profit-minded like any other, and advertisements have been a big part of that. Maybe Meltzer's view is not too far off, as they have already been using ads on the ring and the screens. Maybe ring gears are next; who knows!
Fans react to Dave Meltzer's latest take
Fans are, of course, quick to make memes and add funny anecdotes to anything that happens. The Internet did its thing this time around as well, and as soon as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter post went online,
WWE
fans made sure to share their thoughts on the matter. From people saying it's just the way of the corporate, to some criticizing TKO, everyone had a cent to add to the conversation.
While the chicken wing Dom idea is funny, is this really where wrestling is moving towards? What do the fans really have to say about this?

Have Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lost it? Royal Family source makes shocking claim after ‘fake bump' video goes viral
Meghan Markle recently took to Instagram to post a video of herself twerking while being pregnant with Princess Lili, but a Royal Palace source has reportedly told DailyMail that the general notion around the Royal Family is that Prince Harry and Markle have 'completely lost it.' The video released by Markle shows her twerking with her baby bump. She wrote in the caption, "Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work-there was only one thing left to do!" She posted this on the occasion of Princess Lili's birthday, as Markle was pregnant with her at the time of filming this clip. According to Daily Mail, this video is being considered 'tragic' by the Royal Palace ever since it went viral on the Internet. The main aim of posting the video supposedly was to shut trolls who claim that the couple surrogated their children, but all it has done is add further fuel to the fire due to certain 'loopholes' in the video. Meanwhile, body language experts suggested that it is not physically and mentally possible for Markle to do what was being done by her in the video at that stage of pregnancy.

Money in the Bank: Triple H may soon be released from WWE, says former employee
Paul 'Triple H' Levesque may soon be exiting WWE, according to former employee Jonathan Coachman. During a recent appearance on John Poz's podcast Two Man Power Trip, Coachman explained that Triple H may soon be leaving the company as a result of a behind-the-scenes power struggle at TKO (holding company that owns the WWE). A recent revenue report revealed the hierarchy at TKO, where The Rock was ranked higher in power compared to The Game. Coachman also indicated a power struggle between the Chief Content Officer and Director of the Board at TKO i.e., Dwayne Johnson and Triple H. 'On the report, Ari (Emanuel) was the number one guy; he is the guy. He also runs two or three other things that they run. It gets very complicated. For this discussion, The Rock got anywhere from 30 to 45 million in the last year to come back and be on the board of directors. So, on their financials, you've got Ari, you've got another name, and then you've got Vince McMahon…Vince still holds the third most stock options or pieces of stock in the company. Read More: LA Knight might lose Money in the Bank Ladder for this bizarre reason; fans blame Triple H Then you keep going down; there's only about eight names on the list, and there's Dwayne Johnson. And then, you got Nick Khan, the president of WWE. The one name that is not on there, Paul Levesque, Triple H. And from my time there and my time with the Rock, I know for a fact that he does not get along with Triple H. That does not go away. They've always been butting heads for years and years for a lot of different reasons. And I actually like Triple H a lot,' Coachman explained. Coachman revealed that he had 'good intel' on the power struggle going on behind the scenes and wouldn't give Triple H more than 18 months at the company. Read More: WWE Money in the Bank: Roman Reigns' TKO contract under risk? Insider drops big hint Fans recently vented their frustration against Triple H's decision to let go of several veterans such as R-Truth, Carlito, and Sarah Logan from the company. 'They're looking at the numbers. They're looking at how many do we have to cut or how much money do we have to cut. And those were the picks. Those were the Levesque picks. And that's what it is,' Coachman said. He also believes that The Rock would like to replace Triple H with former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz as the creative head.

WWE Worlds Collide 2025: Legado Del Fantasma takes down Wagner Jr., Pagano, and Psycho Clown in a six-man tag match
For a long time, Legado Del Fantasma has been stuck in WWE's lower card. Santos Escobar, Angel and Berto have been solid performers, but more often than not, they have been used to make other wrestlers look strong. They rarely got a chance to shine themselves. This, however, changed at WWE Worlds Collide. Their opponents were AAA stars El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., Pagano and Psycho Clown, a team full of experience and high-flying ability. From the start, the match was intense and fast paced. Wagner Jr. and Berto began things with some back and forth action, but the tide quickly turned when Psycho Clown came in with power moves and wild dives, including a devastating dive that sent Escobar crashing into the announce table. Pagano brought more chaos with a facebuster on Berto and an ambitious dive to the outside. Escobar showed good ring awareness by pulling Angel out of the way, causing Pagano to crash hard. The WWE trio used teamwork to isolate Pagano, hitting a series of triple kicks and keeping him away from his partners. The action spilled outside the ring several times, with high-flying moves. Some of the wrestlers crashed through barricades. Wagner Jr. showed his skill with an Eddie Guerrero tribute spot but could not finish the match. Escobar fought back fiercely, hitting a big knee and then a superrana off the top rope. He ended the match with his Phantom Driver finisher, pinning Wagner Jr. for the win. A turning point for Legado Del Fantasma? Legado del Fantasma are ready to take on @Psychooriginal, Pagano and @hijodewagner ! Who ya got?! 😤#WorldsCollide This win is huge for Legado Del Fantasma. After months of losing and being treated like jobbers in WWE, this victory could give them the momentum they need to climb the ranks. Defeating respected AAA stars in a match full of energy and drama showed that Escobar and his team can deliver when it matters most. This victory at Worlds Collide might be the start of a new chapter for Legado Del Fantasma in WWE. Fans will be watching closely to see if they can build on this and finally get the push their talent deserves.
