Dolphins roster has 'worst position group' in the NFL, says ESPN analyst
The Miami Dolphins secondary is thin and set to get thinner with seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey expected to be traded this summer.
While the Dolphins have been poking around the veteran free agent market, and haven't ruled out a trade for a cornerback either, for now, the Miami secondary is filled with young, inexperienced players. According to ESPN's Ben Solak, it's not just an area of weakness on the Dolphins roster -- it's the worst spots on any roster in the NFL.

If the Dolphins trade Jalen Ramsey, their starting secondary will be Storm Duck and Cam Smith at outside corner, Kader Kohou in the nickel and Ashtyn Davis and Ifeatu Melifonwu at safety. I'm sorry to say that's an early candidate for "worst position group" in the league.
It'd be a surprise if the Dolphins didn't add at least one more starting quality cornerback before the season starts this fall. The list of players who have been in contact with Miami reportedly includes Rasul Douglas, Asante Samuel Jr., and James Bradberry.
But the Dolphins replaced the loss of Jevón Holland with discount free agents at safety and the team is, at least for now, hoping that young players like Duck, Smith, and Patrick McMorris will make marked improvements.

City manager Pep Guardiola named a 27-man squad for the tournament, which kicks off in Miami on Saturday, with Grealish a notable omission. City's first match at the 32-team tournament is against Wydad Casablanca next Wednesday in Philadelphia. Christian McCaffrey: "I feel great" after injury-riddled 2024 season
After struggling through multiple injuries in 2024, running back Christian McCaffrey is healthy as the 49ers complete their offseason program this week. A day after head coach Kyle Shanahan called him 'a psycho in a good way,' McCaffrey told reporters that he's feeling great entering the summer break. 'I think this offseason I spent a lot of time kind of building back a base starting from scratch, so a lot of it was rehab,' McCaffrey said, via Nick Wagoner of ESPN, 'and [I] wanted to put myself in a position where I didn't miss a day of OTAs and I could practice and play football again, be healthy and not miss a day, and I did that.' Trevon Diggs aims to return for season opener
Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is rehabbing his left knee after undergoing chondral bone graft surgery Jan. 23, which entails transplanting pieces of bone tissue into the joint to stimulate growth. While he was expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2025 season, Diggs told Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News that his goal is to return in time to play Week 1.
