ESPN pitches trade offers for Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey

ESPN pitches trade offers for Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey Seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey's future with Miami has been in limbo since April when Dolphins general manager Chris Grier revealed that it was in the best interest of all parties to part ways via a trade. On Tuesday, Miami head coach Mike McDaniel was mostly mum on whether or not there's been any progress on a Ramsey trade. Still, though Ramsey inked a three-year, $72.3 million contract extension in September of last year, it certainly appears as though it's a matter of when and not if Ramsey gets traded. With that in mind, ESPN pitched four potential hypothetical trades for Ramsey on Wednesday. Jeremy Fowler's trade package for the Dolphins with the Los Angeles Rams Dolphins get: 2026 fifth-round pick, 2026 sixth-round pick, cash considerations Rams get: Ramsey Jeremy Fowler writes that this deal makes sense because of the large sum of guaranteed money attached to Ramsey's contract in 2025. That $20.2 million figure has turned off some interested teams, but the Rams would cover at least $12 million of that in this scenario. Meanwhile, Miami would also receive a pair of later-round picks and move on from a disgruntled Dolphin. Daniel Graziano's trade package for the Dolphins with the Los Angeles Rams Dolphins get: 2026 seventh-round pick Rams get: Ramsey Daniel Graziano writes that his gut feel is that Ramsey winds up getting released by the Dolphins. If that is indeed in play, this scenario at least sees Miami getting something in return for Ramsey. Ben Solak's trade package for the Dolphins with the Carolina Panthers Dolphins get: 2026 fourth-round pick Panthers get: Ramsey Ben Solak whips up the tastiest trade package for Miami. Interestingly, Solak wonders if Ramsey could make the position switch to safety to fill a need for Carolina. Seth Walder's trade package for the Dolphins with the Los Angeles Chargers Dolphins get: 2027 seventh-round pick Chargers get: Ramsey, 2027 sixth-round pick Seth Walder argues that the Chargers have something the other teams don't: the cap room to absorb all of Ramsey's guarantees. While the Chargers have a little less than $32 million in cap space in 2025, Los Angeles has more than $118 million in 2026 cap space. That's the largest 2026 cap space in the NFL and would make welcoming Ramsey's contract much more palatable.

Is this the Rams' worst trade in the past decade?

Is this the Rams' worst trade in the past decade? The Los Angeles Rams have made a lot of trades in the Les Snead era. Some worked out well, from acquiring Matthew Stafford to adding Jalen Ramsey, while others didn't. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox compiled the worst trades made by every team in the past 10 years and picked the Rams' acquisition of cornerback Marcus Peters in 2018 as the biggest flop because of his short stint with the team. "This may seem like a controversial choice since cornerback Marcus Peters was a two-time first-team All-Pro who some have viewed as an elite cover corner," Knox wrote. "The reality, though, is that the Rams overpaid for a defensive back who has always been a feast-or-famine player. "Yes, Peters had an impressive statistical start to his career. In his three seasons with the Chiefs, he logged 19 interceptions, three defensive touchdowns and 55 passes defended while being named the 2015 Defensive Rookie of the Year. However, Peters also had a tendency to gamble and was prone to surrendering big plays. "In Peters' first season with the Rams, for example, he recorded eight passes defended and three interceptions. However, he also surrendered 732 receiving yards and six touchdowns while allowing an opposing passer rating of 104.2. "Peters never seemed to fit with L.A.'s defense, and he busted more than he boomed. The Rams opted to trade him after just over a year and 22 games, replacing him with trade acquisition Jalen Ramsey the same day. "For the 22-game rental of Peters (and a sixth-round pick) the Rams traded a 2018 fourth-round pick and a 2019 second-rounder. Los Angeles then dealt him to Baltimore for linebacker Kenny Young and a fifth-round pick." This may be true, but the truth of it is the Rams were just trying to build their juggernaut team in any way they could. Peters looked like the best addition, but ultimately, they needed someone with a little more punch and pizzazz. Ramsey fit that bill perfectly. And considering how other trades fared for other teams, this isn't that bad of a move for L.A.

Did Panthers assistant coach nearly spill the beans on a big impending move?

Did Panthers assistant coach nearly spill the beans on a big impending move? Jalen Ramsey incoming? 👀 Panthers assistant coach Daren Bates appears to know something we don't.@Raw__Room | @NC_Remy — Michael Bell (@avl_mike) May 29, 2025 Something big may or may not be in the works for the Carolina Panthers. On Wednesday's episode of the Raw Room podcast, special teams assistant Daren Bates was asked about the Panthers' progress through this point of the offseason. The second-year coach offered up his thoughts on some of the organization's transactions as well as what the team is up to in their early workout sessions. When talking about building the roster with their new additions, however, Bates may have nearly offered up a tad too much. Take a listen . . . Hmmm . . . What could that unknown information possibly be? The theory most Panthers fans may rush to might involve three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is seemingly on the outs with the Miami Dolphins. Ramsey appears likely to be traded in the coming weeks, and raised some eyebrows with his recent praise of Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero. Or perhaps Bates was thinking about another kind of defensive back. The Panthers should still be in the market for a starting safety, and have already met with free agents Julian Blackmon and Marcus Williams earlier this spring. Or, maybe it's not even a big move at all. Only Bates, and obviously a select few, would know. But whatever that information is, we may be very close to finding it out. Jalen Ramsey trade rumors: Dolphins CB says 'a new chapter awaits'

Jalen Ramsey trade rumors: Dolphins CB says 'a new chapter awaits' Show Caption Hide Caption Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty excited to play for Pete Carroll Ashton Jeanty is getting ready to start his NFL career with the Las Vegas Raiders. He hopes he can recreate the magic Pete Carroll had with Marshawn Lynch in Seattle. Jalen Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins mutually agreed to seek a trade for the veteran cornerback in the weeks ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite this, Ramsey remains on Miami's roster. That may not be the case for long, if some of Ramsey's recent social media posts are to be believed. Ramsey took to X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday and made a few cryptic posts about his future. His final one ended with him saying "a new chapter awaits." The timing of Ramsey's posts is noteworthy. They came just days ahead of June 1, which is a key date on the NFL's yearly calendar. Once June 1 passes, NFL teams are able to split a player's dead-cap hit – which is guaranteed money allocated to a player no longer on a roster – over two seasons. Players traded or released before June 1 see all of their dead-cap hit accelerate onto the current year's salary cap, unless an NFL team uses one of its two post-June 1 release designations on a player. With that in mind, it would be more palatable for Miami to trade Ramsey after June 1, if possible. The Dolphins would actually save $5.9 million in cap space by trading Ramsey after that date, per Spotrac. If they move him before June 1, it would cost them more than $12.5 million in 2025 cap space. The cost to release Ramsey would also decrease after June 1. The Dolphins would lose just $14.3 million in 2025 cap space by cutting him after that date instead of the roughly $32.8 million it would cost them to do so before then. Given the timing of Ramsey's social media posts – including one that just read "5...," five days ahead of June 1 – his status will be worth monitoring over the coming days. McVay admits Rams considering reunion with Jalen Ramsey, but trade discussions haven't heated up

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Rams would still love a reunion with Jalen Ramsey if they can swing a trade to reacquire the star cornerback from the Miami Dolphins. Rams coach Sean McVay also said Wednesday that those trade discussions haven't advanced in recent weeks — and if a deal doesn't happen, McVay is quite happy to enter the new season with the defensive backs already on Los Angeles' roster.
