Oddsmakers like Duke football coach Manny Diaz's chances for a winning record in 2025
Few football programs in the ACC can match the Duke Blue Devils' form over the last three seasons.
Despite a head coach and two starting quarterbacks to other colleges over the last 24 months, the Blue Devils have found a way to win at least eight games in each of the last three seasons, and the oddsmakers at BetMGM like their chances to continue that good form in 2025.
Head coach Manny Diaz's first season included a 20-point comeback against the North Carolina Tar Heels, a walk-off victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and the first victory over the Florida State Seminoles in school history en route to a 9-3 regular-season record and a TaxSlayer Gator Bowl appearance. With the arrival of Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah to lead the offense, the Blue Devils have -160 odds to win at least seven games in the upcoming regular season. That gives Diaz an implied 61.5% chance to finish above .500.

Duke's conference schedule includes the Clemson Tigers, the defending ACC champions, along with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Syracuse Orange. The Blue Devils won't get a chance to ease into the season, either, with non-conference matchups against Illinois and Tulane in the first three weeks of the year.
Diaz and his team start the 2025 season with a home game against Elon on August 28.

Kyle Johnson drives in 5 in Duke's 7-4 win over Murray State; Blue Devils seek first CWS since 1961
DURHAM, N.C. -- Kyle Johnson drove in five runs to power Duke's 7-4 victory over Murray State on Saturday in the first game of the Durham Super Regional. The Blue Devils are one win from reaching the College World Series for the first time since 1961. Game 2 is Sunday. Johnson, a .228 hitter in 57 at-bats coming in, had two doubles and a home run among his four hits and scored twice. Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Duke tied it when Jake Berger drew a leadoff walk and scored on Johnson's two-run home run to center field. Johnson and Berger figured in the Blue Devils' three-run fourth inning. Johnson drove in two with a bases-loaded double that sent Berger to third base. Berger then scored on a wild pitch by Nic Schutte (8-4). In the sixth, Johnson doubled to drive in one run and later scored on a double by Ben Rounds. Duke managed only six hits — four by Johnson — but the Blue Devils benefited from eight walks. Dom Decker had four of Murray State's nine hits and drove in two runs. Duke starter Owen Proksch (4-3) went 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts. Reid Easterly pitched three scoreless innings for his fifth save. Duke (42-19) is playing in the super regionals for the fourth time. The Racers (42-15) are making their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance and first in the super regionals. ___

Kyle Johnson's epic performance lifts Duke past Murray State in super regional Game 1
Kyle Johnson's epic performance lifts Duke past Murray State in super regional Game 1 Oh he's so back 😏 B3 Duke, 2 | MSU, 2#BlueCollar — Duke Baseball (@DukeBASE) June 7, 2025 Duke baseball is one win away from its first College World Series appearance in program history after dispatching Murray State 7-4 in Game 1 of the Durham Super Regional on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils fell behind early in the game, trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the third. Unfortunately for the Racers, it was Kyle Johnson's day, and the sophomore two-way player got the scoring started for Duke with a two-run shot in the bottom frame of the third to tie the game up. Johnson wasn't done there, as he hit RBI doubles in the fourth and sixth to extend the lead. He ultimately finished 4 for 4 at the plate while batting five runs in during a breakout performance. 2 RBI double for @KyleJohnson555 to take the lead‼️ B4 Duke, 4 | MSU, 2 — Duke Baseball (@DukeBASE) June 7, 2025 Murray State attempted a rally in the seventh, cutting Duke's lead to 7-4 with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly, but the Blue Devils' pitching was ultimately too strong. After starter Owen Proksch allowed just two runs with five strikeouts in 5.2 innings, Reid Easterly came in to finish the game and ultimately earned the save while tossing three shutout frames. Huge punch out for Easterly to head to the bottom of the 7th 💪💪 — Duke Baseball (@DukeBASE) June 7, 2025 With the victory, Duke takes a 1-0 lead in the super regional and could punch its ticket to Omaha with a win in Game 2 on Sunday. Coach Chris Pollard's team will look to do just that when they face the Racers again at noon ET Sunday.
