Kneecap apology to fans as Vienna concert cancelled due to ‘safety concerns'
The group, known for their provocative lyrics and championing of the Irish language, have had several shows cancelled in recent months, including TRNSMT festival in Glasgow and at the Eden Project in Cornwall.

They have said there is a smear campaign against them because of their support for Palestine and criticism of Israel's actions in Gaza.
In a social media post on Friday the group said: 'Our planned show in Vienna on September 1st is cancelled.'
The social media post added: 'To the 3500 people we were looking forward to seeing at our first headline show in Vienna, we are sorry: this is out of our hands.
'All tickets will be refunded.
'Yet again, it is clear that this is political distraction and a further attempt to silence those who call out genocide against the Palestinian people.
'But as always, we will fight on for what is right.'
A note on the venues website said: 'Racoon Live Entertainment GmbH hereby cancels the planned Kneecap show on September 1, 2025, at the Gasometer Vienna due to acute safety concerns raised by the responsible authorities.'
Kneecap, comprised of Liam Og O hAnnaidh, Naoise O Caireallain and JJ O Dochartaigh, were formed in Belfast and released their first single in 2017.
They hit headlines in April when footage emerged that appeared to show a band member saying 'Kill your local MP' at one gig and and 'Up Hamas, up Hezbollah' at another.
In May, O hAnnaidh, who performs under the name Mo Chara, was charged with a terrorism offence relating to allegedly displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah at a London gig in November 2024.
O hAnnaidh and his bandmates were cheered by hundreds of supporters when they arrived at Westminster Magistrates' Court on June 18.
Musicians including Nadine Shah and Gurriers have said they will attend court to support the group when O hAnnaidh returns on August 20.
Kneecap have apologised to the families of murdered MPs and said they have 'never supported' Hamas or Hezbollah, which are banned in the UK.
They were also investigated over their set at Glastonbury Festival in June, but Avon and Somerset Police said they would be taking no further action in July.

Billy Loughnane takes first Group One win on Rebel's Romance
Irish jockey Billy Loughnane registered his first Group One victory when guiding globetrotting superstar Rebel's Romance to the Westminster 135th Grosser Preis von Berlin at Hoppegarten. A firm favourite of trainer Charlie Appleby, the seven-year-old began his Group One haul in this very race back in 2022 and three years on he was back in the German capital to strike for the eighth time at the highest level. Keen to keep things simple, Rebel's Romance was up with the pace throughout the early stages, keeping close tabs on Andre Fabre's Junko and when straightening for home he showed his class to bravely hold off the French challenger. It was in fact a fourth Group One success on German soil for the well-travelled dual Breeders' Cup Turf hero who could return to Del Mar for another crack at the season-ending showpiece, with Coral making him the 5-1 co second-favourite for a third Stateside victory. Appleby said: "It's great for Billy, but more importantly great for the horse who keeps sparkling on all continents. "To have him carry on at the top level is fantastic for Sheikh Mohammed and I see this as a pre-cursor for the Canadian International at Woodbine and then the Breeders' Cup." Loughnane (19) has ridden eight winners from 12 rides for Appleby this season and it is fitting his first success at the top table comes in Germany, having notched his first Group-race triumph at Cologne in April last year. It caps a memorable weekend for his teenage pilot who also won the Sweet Solera Stakes in the royal blue of Appleby and Godolphin aboard Dance To The Music at Newmarket on Saturday. Loughnane told Wettstar: "This is a feeling I can't describe, it's a feeling of ecstasy, what a horse and I'm very lucky to be riding in these colours and riding a horse like this. "He's a star of a horse and has been going for a good few seasons now. Big thanks go to William Buick and I spoke to him last night and he told me exactly what to do. He's a superstar." Meanwhile, the 19-year-old's father Mark Loughnane was the proudest man on Wolverhampton racecourse having watched his son's finest hour from Dunstall Park. He told Sky Sports Racing: "Words can't describe something like that and it is something Billy has dreamt about all his life, it was amazing. "I had an even-money favourite in the first but I was more on my phone watching Billy and we can't thank Mr Appleby and George Boughey and people like that enough. His agent Tony Hind has done a super job and they've all really catapulted Billy to the next level but as a dad, I'm proud as punch. "When it was talked about he might be riding Rebel's Romance he rang me straight away and was like a child in a sweet shop and he said 'I'm on this horse of Mr Appleby's and it's going to be great'. I told him just to relax as a lot can happen between races. "I've spoken to him on the phone and he's absolutely elated. I was the first one on the phone and he's bouncing and for a young fellow, he's a super young man. What he's done in a short space of time, I've helped him get started, and now that's it off he goes. "It's awesome for our house and as a family, his mum is here racing today and we're all absolutely cock-a-hoop for him."

'I feel like it's very cool, it just shows that people really liked her because the US couldn't vote, so she definitely has a big fan base now in the UK, which is nice to see the support,' she says. 'I love them two together. I feel Cach brings a very nice soft side out of Toni and vice versa. I feel they've very good communication skills and you can really see it on TV.' The Dublin beauty also says she hopes Irish lovebirds Conor and Meghan have a good future together. Andrada Pop 'I haven't really seen them myself in the villa so I can't really speak on behalf of them – but I have been around them at the final and they seem very happy and they feel very well suited for each other, so I am hoping that it works out. 'I do feel like they get along, I wouldn't say it's because of the Irish thing, but maybe. I was in there and I'm from Ireland and I wasn't drawn to Conor just because he was Irish. 'I feel like me and Conor are actually very good friends in that sense. I wouldn't say necessarily because they're both Irish, I just feel like they're very well suited as people individually.' She also backs up Harry, despite him getting criticism over his perceived lack of loyalty and bedhopping ways. 'I do like Harry and I feel like, at the end of the day, it's a TV show that people don't get to see what we are like. There's 24 hours in a day. I feel like Harry is definitely a nice guy and I don't feel that's shown as much,' she argues. 'Obviously it's a hard environment that we're in there and you have to go with your heart sometimes, and you're going to upset certain people, but he followed his heart and he went for who he wanted.' After her drama with Ben, Andrada is now happy to confirm her current status. 'I am single. We all like tall dark and handsome, this is the usual type — but I do like somebody that kind of has more deep, deep conversation, not just surface looks,' she explains. 'I'm 28, I want to find my forever, I don't really want to waste any time. I do want somebody that I can be best friends with and laugh and enjoy life together. Men of colour, white guys... I don't really mind. I don't have a set type.' Andrada's parents are originally from Romania but she herself grew up in Balbriggan in north County Dublin, has an older sister and younger brother and now lives in Blanchardstown in west Dublin. She won Miss Bikini Ireland in 2019 and earlier this year finished in the top five of Miss Swimsuit UK. 'I actually applied for Love Island three years ago. I got through to the audition and then I didn't hear anything after that. I believe it was timing,' she beams. Today she will fly out to Romania, where her parents have built a house which they use during the summer. 'They've worked all their lives to build a nice family home, so I go there on holidays and enjoy the house that they've built whenever I can. I haven't gone there now in a couple of years,' she says.

Conor McGregor ‘not fit' to be president, says Darragh O'Brien
The minister asked people to 'draw the comparison to what our president has done, and what someone like Conor McGregor might do' Conor McGregor would not be fit to be president, a minister has said. Transport Minister Darragh O'Brien compared MMA fighter McGregor (37), to Ireland's outgoing president Michael D Higgins, who is a former arts minister and sociology lecturer. Mr O'Brien said McGregor was free to challenge the process to get on the presidential ballot paper but that the Irish constitution was 'clear'. He was responding to comments from McGregor to The Sunday Times where he said he is considering a legal challenge to the eligibility rules for the presidential elections. Conor McGregor. They also must be an Irish citizen who is 35 or older. So far, two candidates have secured sufficient nominations to get on the ballot: former farming journalist and EU commissioner Mairead McGuinness, who is the Fine Gael nominee; and Catherine Connolly, a left-wing independent and former Galway mayor who has received the backing of opposition parties and independents. Several figures have said they intend to seek the nominations needed to get on the ballot, including Riverdance star Michael Flatley, millionaire entrepreneur Gareth Sheridan, and previous presidential candidate Peter Casey, as well as McGregor. 'I don't envisage he'll be nominated to run for president. But look, I think it's open to any citizen to take a challenge, should they wish. 'The office of Uachtarán na hÉireann is the highest office in the land. 'It's a critically important office. If you look at the work that Michael D Higgins has done over the last 14 years and representing our country abroad with such distinction, I would just ask people to draw the comparison to what our president has done, and what someone like Conor McGregor might do. 'So I don't think he would be fit to hold that office.' Last month, McGregor has lost his appeal against a civil jury's finding in favour of Dublin woman Nikita Hand, who accused him of rape. Ms Hand (35), successfully sued McGregor in a civil court over an incident in which he was alleged to have 'brutally raped and battered' her in a penthouse at a south Dublin hotel in December 2018. Ms Hand was awarded almost €250,000 in damages and McGregor was also ordered to pay about €1.3 million in legal costs following the November trial.
