Three men who went missing while fishing found dead in Mississippi River
Search and rescue teams from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and other Memphis-area agencies began looking for the men on Tuesday evening after they were reported missing near a boat ramp at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park.
The search, which included aircraft, rescue boats, and sonar, was suspended on Tuesday night due to darkness. It resumed on Wednesday morning, the sheriff's office said.
The first two bodies were recovered about 11 a.m. and the third about 12:45 p.m., the sheriff's office said. A cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
The three men were described as Hispanic, ranging in age from their 20s to their 50s, the county fire department said.
Officials say the area has become increasingly popular for recreation at the state park in Shelby Forest, located north of Memphis. But the river is treacherous, with several hazards present, including strong currents, submerged items, branches and debris.
'There are eddy currents that can pull an Olympic swimmer under. You can be drawn into the channel and find yourself staring at a 24-unit barge that's the size of a skyscraper on its side coming straight at you with no way for the barge crew to have any idea that you are there,' the fire department said on Facebook.
Authorities are investigating what happened to the men.

Vickie Torres, Owen's mom, told local NBC affiliate KCRA that the two had a "wonderful" visit before she went missing. Turkish authorities have launched a search for a missing 79-year-old British national who set off by boat to visit the ancient tombs of Kaunos in Turkey on July 26 and has not been heard from since. As per the daughter's report, the two had travelled to Çandır, a village in Muğla's Köyceğiz district in southwestern Turkey, for a holiday together. At 10:30 am, her father began a trip by rowboat to the nearby rock-cut temple tombs of Kaunos, also known as the Lycian rock tombs, but she lost contact with him and has not heard from his since. Between Dalyan and Kaunos, there are more than 150 rock-cut tombs marking the resting place of the Lycian elite. The impressive ruins of the ancient trading city of Kaunos be found across the river from the cliffs, in modern-day Dalyan. The archeological site has many well-preserved structures, including a Hellenistic theatre, a Roman bath, and temples. The rock-cut facades of the graves resemble the fronts of Hellenistic temples, complete with a pair of Ionian pillars, a triangular pediment, and an architrave with toothed friezes, according to the World Heritage Convention.

Pershore missing mother and daughter found
A mother and daughter who were missing from their home for nine days have been Mercia Police had appealed for help in finding Hannah Sheehan, 45, and Lydia Sheehan, 14, who were last seen in Pershore, Worcestershire, before disappearing on 18 search spread further afield as the pair had links to Redditch, Stratford, Leamington Spa and Wellesbourne in Warwickshire, with people urged to call they were "found safe and well" on Monday, the force confirmed.
