Lucknow: The literary work of
women writers
from Lucknow will be enacted at the 17-day theatre festival '17 din, 50 kahaniya' that began at UP Sangeet Natak Akademi on Monday.
Three plays will be staged daily at the festival which has beenb organised by

Among the writers whose work is being staged are Sandhya Deep Rastogi, Neelam Rakesh, Reeta KK Agarwal, Neelima Tikku, Ratna Kaul, Sushma Srivastava, Karuna Pandey, Amita Dubey, Shashi Jain, Sharda Lal, Swarup Kumari Bakshi, Vibha Chandra, Shalini Rai Nigam, and Vidya Bindu Singh.
Manchkirti Samiti founder Sangam Bahuguna said our effort is to bring something new for the audience. New artists will also be given a platform, Sangam said.
On the first day, three stories — 'Meri Chidiya Uski Chidiya' by Sandhya Deep Rastogi, 'Grahan' by Neelam Rakesh, and 'Garibani Ka Pati' by Reeta KK Agarwal, were staged.

Lucknow: The tricentenary birth celebrations of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar was celebrated jointly by Sanskar Bharti, Awadh Pranth and UP Sangeet Natak Akademi at UPSNA on Monday. Ahilyabai was the queen of Indore within the Maratha empire. The programme began with a recital performance by the students of Saraswati Vidya Mandir. Principal of Navyug Girls College, Manjula Upadhyay shed light on the life of Ahilyabai and said, "Ahilyabai was born in 1725. She was an epitome of courage, intellect, compassion and women empowerment . Her life is an inspiration for many and drives us to remember her even after three centuries of her death." Vice chancellor of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Prof Mandavi Singh said, "Such cultural events which educate about great personalities should be promoted." A dance performance was presented by the troupe of dancer Shruti Sharma. Meanwhile, a dance drama on Lord Shri Ram was presented by the troupe of dancer Arjun Mishra. A visitor, Shreya Saran (15) said, "The programme was very informative and entertaining." The programme ended with a chorus performance of the national song. Lucknow: The UP Sangeet Natak Akademi on Friday witnessed a mesmerising confluence of poetry, ghazal, and kathak during Bayan-e-Ghalib, a soulful event that brought the legendary poet's works to life through a unique theatrical presentation. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The evening featured a compelling dual portrayal of Mirza Ghalib, with one artist reciting his immortal verses while another enacted the poet's journey to literary greatness. Dr Prabha Srivastava enriched the evening with soulful renditions of ghazals, while acclaimed dancer Kumkum Dhar added to the cultural spectacle by choreographing kathak performances to accompany the verses. The event drew appreciation from a diverse audience. "Although I am a doctor, I read Urdu poetry, and the whole act and dance performances were pure magic," said Dr Sneha Charan, 41, who attended the event. Scientist Namita Mehra praised the presentation as a perfect embodiment of Lucknow's cultural heritage, noting, "The combination of poetry, ghazal, and kathak perfectly captures the essence of Lucknow's culture and tehzeeb."

UPSNA summer workshop from May 27

Lucknow: Summer workshop at UP Sangeet Natak Akademi will be held from May 27 till June 26. Classical singing, semi-classical singing, photography, play, playwriting, puppet making, among other actvivities will be taught in the workshop. Applications are available online and offline from 11am till 4pm. Last date to apply is May 26. Total cost of the workshop is Rs 1,000. Workshop timings will be from 7am till 11am and 4pm to 6pm.
