
Police investigate suspicious death in downtown Calgary
An investigation is underway into a suspicious death in downtown Calgary.
At around 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to reports of a dead man inside a residence on the 600 block of 10 Street S.W.
The circumstances of the victim's death are now under investigation.
No suspects are in custody.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

On Tuesday, they searched a Cambridge property and recovered approximately $30,000 of stolen goods. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Police-involved shooting in Niagara Falls leaves man dead, SIU investigating
SIU investigators are on the scene of a police-involved shooting in Niagara Falls on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. (CTV News) A man is dead in Niagara Falls after being shot by a police officer who is a member of a Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) on Wednesday morning. Niagara police said a call came in at 11:15 a.m. notifying them about a police-involved shooting in the area of Stanley Avenue and Peer Street. The incident involved the ROPE squad, which is a multi-agency team operated by the Ontario Provincial Police and tasked to locate and apprehend parolees unlawfully at large. 'We can confirm that no NRPS officers were directly involved in the incident. However, NRPS officers did assist in the response,' they said in a news release. (CTV News) A spokesperson for Niagara Region said paramedics transported a male patient to a local hospital in life-threatening condition. In a subsequent post on social media, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said the man was pronounced dead in the hospital. The SIU, Ontario's police watchdog, has invoked its mandate and is investigating the incident. The SIU is called in when the actions of police resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.

2 cyclists in Ottawa injured in separate collisions with vehicles Wednesday
Two cyclists were injured Wednesday in separate collisions with vehicles, according to the Ottawa Paramedic Service. Spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps told CTV News Ottawa a man in his 50s was struck by a vehicle being driven on Bank Street near Gladstone Avenue at around 10:34 a.m. He was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition. A second cyclist was struck by a vehicle being driven at the intersection of Elgin and Lisgar streets at around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday. The man was transported to hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, Deschamps said. The Ottawa Police Service says both collisions remain under investigation. In the last week, three other cyclists have been hit by vehicles being driven on Ottawa streets, including a woman in her 70s who was pronounced dead at the scene of a collision on Mitch Owens Road on Saturday, and another person in their 30s who suffered critical injuries in a collision on Sweetnam Drive in Stittsville on July 22. Three people riding e-scooters were also hit by vehicles this week on King Edward Avenue and in the area of West Ridge Drive and Eliza Crescent in Stittsville.
