'Full Metal Jacket' actor Kevyn Major Howard passes away at 69
Kevyn Major Howard, the actor best known for playing Rafterman in the war movie Full Metal Jacket, passed away at the age of 69.
The 1987 war film directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick is based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Michael Herr and Gustav Hasford. It stars Matthew Modine, R. Lee Ermey, Vincent D'Onofrio, Adam Baldwin, Dorian Harewood, and Arliss Howard.
Howard's family said he died at a Las Vegas hospital surrounded by loved ones on Friday.
He was in the hospital weeks before his death due to respiratory issues.
His official cause of death, however, has yet to be determined, reported People.
Howard is survived by his wife, Tiffanie, and stepdaughter, Kayla, as well as his sister, Kim, and brother, Kelsey.
Howard, who was born in Montreal, Canada, on January 27, 1956, appeared in several TV shows after moving to Los Angeles later in life to act.
He was seen alongside Clint Eastwood in the 1983 movie Sudden Impact and had worked as an extra in Scarface.
Howard also appeared in 1999's Crusade and was, according to the outlet, a skilled headshot photographer.
Taking to X, Matthew Modine shared a photograph of himself with Howard and their Full Metal Jacket costars.
"Kevyn Major Howard gave and gave and gave so much to the world and especially the men and women of our armed forces," Modine wrote. "He became famous for his role of 'Rafterman' in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket."
"His portrayal gave him a unique entree into the world of the US Marine Corps," he continued. "This led him on a decades-long journey to be in service of our nation's bravest."

Miley Cyrus reveals how she hid her mistakes
Pop icon Miley Cyrus is getting candid about her past drug use. She also shared how she escaped the radar of her accountant when it came to narcotics money. The singer-songwriter, 32, took a deep dive into where she was mentally for each of her albums like 'Bangerz and Endless Summer Vacation', in an episode of The Ringer's 'Every Single Album' podcast, reports 'People' magazine. During their discussion of her 2015 album, 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz', she revealed where some of her money went without her accountant's knowledge. "The drugs were the biggest cost, which to hide those from my accountant, we called them vintage clothes', she said. "And so she would get these checks. That happens on touring all the time'. As per 'People', Miley said over time her accountant would wonder about the "vintage clothes" costs but she always made sure to keep her purchases discreet. "And every time she saw me, she'd be like, 'Where's that, like, $15,000 original John Lennon T-shirt that you bought?' It's like, 'Oh, it's upstairs', she said. "We just really want to protect it. It's really delicate. The fabric got to take care of it. So I bought a lot of vintage clothes that year'. Continuing to reflect on 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz', the 'We Can't Stop' singer admitted she's grateful for how far she's come since that period in her life. "I'm so glad I survived that time in my life', she said. "I would definitely not encourage anyone else to go this hard, but the fact that I got through it, I'm very glad I got to do it'. The singer has been open about her sobriety throughout the passing years. In a 2017 interview she said she was "evolving' after giving up substance abuse. Indo-Asian News Service

Jackie Chan understood "nothing" his costar Chris Tucker said during 'Rush Hour'
Actor and filmmaker Jackie Chan has an interesting revelation about the first Rush Hour movie. During his recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, he shared his working experience in the film and the challenges he faced while shooting it. Rush Hour is a 1998 cop action comedy film directed by Brett Ratner and written by Jim Kouf and Ross LaManna from a story by LaManna, with Chan and Tucker as mismatched police officers who are assigned to rescue a Chinese diplomat's abducted daughter. Its box office success led to two sequels: Rush Hour 2 (2001) and Rush Hour 3 (2007). On talking about the film, Chan said, "The whole movie, I don't know what Chris Tucker's saying," he added, "Not a clue." Chan later shared that in "every shot" his dialogue was "different" because of how much he struggled to understand. "My dialogue coach sits right behind the camera," he continued. "Every scene, every shot, different dialogue." When asked if he ever shared about the challenges he faced, Chan replied, "Yes" "I asked my dialect coach, 'What did he say?' He speaks so fast!" said Chan. Chan said he ultimately learned English by listening to country music, as the songs are slower, reported People. This revelation about Rush Hour film came after Chan opened up about his favourite films in the trilogy. "I don't know. You know what, the first one: little money, little time," said Chan about the original 1998 movie, adding,"We shot it like, 'Go, go, go, go!' The second one: a lot of money, a lot of time. The third one: too much money, too much time." "Too much money is no good," Chan added. On the possibility of Rush Hour 4, Chan revealed during his December 2022 appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia that he was "talking" about it.

Selena Gomez lauds Taylor Swift after she buys back her catalogue
Singer-actress Selena Gomez has come out in support of pop sensation Taylor Swift after the latter bought back her music following Scooter Braun drama. On Friday, May 30, the 'Only Murders in the Building' actress, 32, cheered on her fellow singer, 35, after it was revealed that Swift finally owns her masters, reports 'People' magazine. 'Yes you did that Tay', Selena Gomez wrote on her Instagram Story using all caps, adding, 'So proud!' As per 'People', earlier in the day, Swift confirmed reports that she was once again in control of her music catalog after a public ownership feud involving record executive Scooter Braun. 'You belong with me', she cleverly captioned an Instagram carousel, a nod to her 2008 hit of the same name from her album 'Fearless'. Almost six years ago, her catalog was sold to Braun, who then sold it to private equity firm Shamrock Capital. Swift's upload showed three photos of her sitting on the floor of a portrait studio, wearing a periwinkle top, denim jeans and her signature red lip as she smiled, surrounded by her first six albums. During the years long battle for ownership, the 'Love Story' singer famously re-recorded albums, adding 'Taylor's Version' to the titles. Selena has supported Swift since their friendship began more than a decade ago. The two singers were introduced by the Jonas Brothers in August 2008 and have been besties ever since. 'We actually dated the Jonas Brothers together! It was hysterical', Gomez told KISS FM UK in 2017. 'It was amazing, because (Taylor) was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked', the 'Good For You' singer said, before jokingly adding, 'It was the best thing we got out of those relationships'. All parties involved have moved on. Swift has been dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce since October 2023. In December 2024, Benny Blanco and Gomez became engaged. Gomez began her career as a child actress, appearing on the children's television series Barney & Friends (2002 — 2004), and emerged as a teen idol for her leading role as Alex Russo on the Disney Channel sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place (2007 — 2012). She signed with Hollywood Records in 2008 and formed the band Selena Gomez & the Scene, which released three successful albums: Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010), and When the Sun Goes Down (2011). Gomez has since released three solo studio albums that debuted atop the US Billboard 200. Her EDM-infused debut record, Stars Dance (2013), yielded the international top-ten single 'Come & Get It'. She moved to Interscope Records and released the electropop album Revival (2015), supported by the top-ten singles 'Good for You', 'Same Old Love', and 'Hands to Myself'. Its follow-up, the dance-pop-influenced Rare (2020), contained her first Billboard Hot 100 number-one single 'Lose You to Love Me'. Agencies
