ATC issues notice to CTD officials over failure to produce case records

Express Tribune24-05-2025

The Special Anti-Terrorism Court in Peshawar has issued notices to the Additional Inspector General (AIG) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for failing to present case records in several terrorism-related cases. The court has ordered both officials to appear in person with the complete records on May 26.
Judge Muhammad Iqbal Khan, in his written order, stated that bail applications of three suspects involved in terrorism cases are currently under consideration. Despite repeated orders and notices issued on every hearing, the investigation records have not been submitted to the court.
During the most recent hearing, the investigating officer informed the court that the records were still under review and that senior authorities had directed that the documents not be submitted until the review process is complete.
The judge noted in his brief ruling that non-compliance with court directives is contributing to the backlog of cases. Legal notices have been issued to both CTD officials under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The court warned that legal action will be taken if the officials fail to comply.
The hearing was adjourned until May 26.
