AN URGENT warning has been issued about tumble dryers sold in the UK that pose a fire risk as owners are told to 'stop using immediately'.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) have told owners to stop using the affected appliances and to take urgent safety precautions.

Officials explained: "The product presents a risk of fire as it is possible for an internal short circuit to occur during normal use, causing the tumble dryer to ignite."

This fault could lead to household fires if not addressed urgently.
The officials explained that the products do not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
Owners can check whether they have an affected product by checking their model number and serial number and following the instructions in the manufacturers' websites.
The manufacturer has initiated a modification programme and owners are strongly advised to stop using the product immediately.
Instead owners must contact the manufacturer to arrange for a modification to take place.
It is imperative however that the product should not be used until the modification has taken place.
If the plug is accessible, switch off and unplug the appliance.
Home Appliances firm, Candy has said: "The issue relates to two manufacturing variations which, when found together, can result in the product catching fire when it is in use.

"We take consumer safety very seriously and want to reduce any product safety risks to a minimum.
"Therefore, we would like to carry out an in-home modification to rectify the issue.
"This would require a service engineer to attend your home, free of charge."
They have emphasised that if you own one of the affected models, they strongly advise that you do not use the appliance until the engineer has completed the modification.

King Charles praised for 'faultless' firing technique at Larkhill
King Charles III has been praised for his "faultless" firing technique after using an artillery gun during a visit to the home of the Royal King, wearing the number four tropical dress uniform, accepted an invitation to fire a L118 light gun while at the headquarters of the Royal Regiment of Artillery at Larkhill, near Salisbury, in Wiltshire. Barbourne Works cladding to take months to sort, architect says
Dozens of people who had to leave their homes at short notice after a fire inspection revealed dangerous cladding and issues with fire escapes could be out of their flats for months, an architect has fire and council workers moved to clear Barbourne Works in Worcester on Wednesday, with 52 adults and eight children suddenly finding themselves in need of somewhere else to Frazer Bufton said the actual work to make the building safe would be relatively quick, but that it could take "months" to get all the arrangements in firm First Port said concerns related to defects from when the former factory was converted 20 years ago.
