Stocks to buy or sell: Osho Krishan of Angel One suggests buying HCL Tech, Gail shares today

Stock market today: The domestic benchmark indices, Nifty 50 and Sensex, opened with little movement on Thursday as investors evaluated the US-China trade agreement and rising tensions in the Middle East. The Nifty 50 was down 0.13% to reach 25,106 . 45, while the Sensex slipped 0.18% to 82,365.17 by 9:57 IST. The broader small-cap stocks gained 0.2%, whereas mid-cap stocks remained unchanged. US President Donald Trump announced that a framework regarding tariff rates had been established in order to revive the fragile trade truce with China. While this announcement boosted investor optimism, the absence of detailed information kept the markets uneasy. At the same time, Iran indicated that it would target US bases in the Middle East if nuclear negotiations collapse and conflict with Washington erupts, intensifying geopolitical worries. On the technical front, Osho Krishan of Angel One, recommends HCL Technologies Ltd, and Gail (India) Ltd. Krishan advises to chasing momentum and suggest entering on dips while booking profits at higher levels. Here's what he says about the overall market. The prevailing market structure has remained consistent, as evidenced by the emergence of a third consecutive narrow-range candlestick with a small body on the daily chart for the benchmark index. The smoothed Relative Strength Index (RSI) is currently positioned around 75, indicating that the market is situated in an overbought territory. Despite the underlying bullish sentiment, there is a significant absence of robust follow-through. The recent trading range of 25,050–25,250 broadly marks a key zone of 25,000–25,300, where the lower end aligns with the bullish gap support and the upper end coincides with the crucial 78.6% retracement, making this zone pivotal for the weekly expiry. Hence, we continue to advise against chasing momentum and suggest entering on dips while booking profits at higher levels. While the index remains within a defined range, thematic plays are beginning to gain traction. Our positive outlook on the IT sector is reaffirmed, as the Nifty IT index has surpassed its recent swing high, establishing a classic "Higher Top Higher Bottom" formation. This suggests the potential for outperformance in this sector. Furthermore, Oil and Gas stocks are experiencing significant breakouts, and we expect that strength in this sector will persist in the near term. On stocks to buy on Thursday, Osho Krishan of Angel One recommended two stocks - HCL Technologies Ltd, and Gail (India) Ltd. HCL Technologies share price has observed substantial buying activity in recent sessions, having surpassed key short-term EMAs on the daily chart and exceeded the 200-DSMA after an extended period of stagnation. This recent price performance is supported by increasing trading volumes and positive crossovers of the EMAs, which contribute to a bullish sentiment. Furthermore, from a risk-reward perspective, the stock is favorably positioned and appears poised to sustain its upward trajectory in the near term. Hence, we recommend buying HCL Technologies share price around ₹ 1,710-1,700, keeping a stop loss of ₹ 1,640 for a potential upside Target of ₹ 1,780-1,810. Gail share price has demonstrated a notable increase, supported by substantial trading volumes during the previous session, thereby exceeding the 200 DSMA. The stock has also surpassed its prior swing highs, and the recent positive crossover of the 21-DEMA over the 200 DSMA suggests a favorable short-term outlook. Moreover, the alignment of the 14-period momentum indicator further reinforces the bullish sentiment regarding the stock. Hence, we recommend buying Gail share price around ₹ 198-195, keeping a stop loss of ₹ 187 for a potential upside Target of ₹ 212-216. Trading guide, June 12: Nifty awaits fresh cues; GAIL, M&M on analyst radar

Nifty outlook: Markets remained volatile for yet another session and ended marginally in the green amid a lack of fresh triggers. After a flat start, the Nifty gradually moved higher in the first half and tested the resistance at 25,200, but failed to sustain the momentum and finally settled at the 25,141 level. On the sectoral front, the mixed trend persisted, with IT, pharma, and energy ending in the green, while FMCG and banking closed marginally lower. Meanwhile, the broader indices witnessed profit-taking, with both the midcap and smallcap segments losing nearly half a per cent each. A fresh trigger is needed for the Nifty to decisively surpass the 25,200 hurdle; otherwise, the ongoing consolidation may continue. Participants are now closely watching the upcoming macroeconomic data, particularly CPI inflation and updates on trade deals, for further cues. Amid this backdrop, we recommend maintaining a stock-specific approach and focusing on prudent trade management, especially considering the overbought conditions in several midcap and smallcap stocks. The stock has broken out of an Inverted Head & Shoulders pattern—a classic trend reversal formation—accompanied by a noticeable rise in volumes. The breakout, along with the overall strength in the IT sector, indicates that the stock has likely concluded its six-month corrective phase and is now poised to enter a new uptrend. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited | LTP: ₹3,080.70 | Buy | Target: ₹3,300 | Stop-loss: ₹2,980 Rate-sensitive sectors are witnessing increased traction, and within the auto space, Mahindra & Mahindra is offering a fresh buying opportunity. ‘I don't think Europeans had good sense of how Russians felt about relationship': S Jaishankar on New Delhi-Moscow ties

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, speaking at the GMF Brussels Forum 2025, stressed Russia-India ties and said that Europe should have put itself in Russia's shoes if it truly knows what it wants. As reported by ANI, 'I know Russia is a big issue right now. My honest answer to you is I don't think Europeans had a good sense of how the Russians felt about the relationship or about the direction of events when people say we didn't see that coming, you normally don't see that. I'm not justifying anything,' he said. Jaishankar said that to be a good practitioner in international relations, one has to understand the behaviour and practices of other countries. "I'm just saying that in international relations if you have to be a good practitioner, if you have to do well even for your own country or for your own group of countries. It's smart to try to understand the thinking processes, the interests, the anxieties, the behavioural traits of other parties and I certainly didn't see that I would say in respect of Russia also," he said. Jaishankar pointed out that Europe's narrative of evolution after the formation of the Russian state is starkly different from the Russian version. "So in fact often the narrative you hear from Russia is so starkly different about let us say the evolution of Europe after 1992. Europe has one version or much of Europe has one version, Russia has a very different version," he said. Jaishankar further eflected on a remark he made about Europe in 2022, noting that over the past three years, Europe's approach has undergone a significant shift. Earlier in 2022, Jaishankar had said this when India was pressed to take a rougher stance against Russia in their conflict with Ukraine, 'Somewhere Europe has to grow out of the mindset that Europe's problems are the world's problems but the world's problems are not Europe's problems. That if it is you, it's yours, if it is me, it is ours. I see reflections of that.' In a multipolar world, you've got to see many more moves ahead. When asked by a journalist if Europe has evolved from it, Jaishankar jested, saying that the quote was 'thrown at him' frequently. 'You have no idea how many times that quotation has been thrown back at me!' he said. 'I do want to say this we're now in 2025 and I think there's been a big change where Europe is concerned in these three years which is a large part of being on your own or being part of a multipolar architecture one is to realize your own capabilities and limitations and compulsions and relationships. So you are more self-reliant in a way, but the other part of it is also to try to put yourself in the shoes of the other party. It's not easy to do,' he said. Key Takeaways Empathy and understanding are crucial in international relations. Different narratives exist between nations, which can affect diplomatic relations. A multipolar world requires strategic thinking and anticipation of other players' moves.
