Luke Littler beats James Wade to win first World Matchplay crown in Blackpool
Wade was in his seventh Matchplay final 18 years on from his solitary success in 2007, which came six months after Littler was born.

Littler's scoring power in a high-quality contest proved decisive – he hit 17 180s to Wade's six in averaging 107 – and set a new tournament record of 64 maximums, beating Adrian Lewis' previous best of 56.
'It means absolutely everything,' Littler told Sky Sports after winning the last four legs to hold the Phil Taylor Trophy aloft.
'I idolise Phil, he's come here 16 times and won it. Now my name is on this trophy – and I can say I've completed the Triple Crown.
'Since I started on the Tour and got my Tour card I've always said to myself, 'as long as I win one of every major I'll be happy.'
'I've only got a few left to tick off and I'll definitely chase the majors I haven't won yet.'
Littler had to mount another comeback 24 hours after losing the first five legs of his semi-final to Northern Ireland's Josh Rock.
Wade stormed into a 5-0 lead but did not have a single dart at a double in the second mini-session as Littler levelled in style.
The 42-year-old left-hander produced an 11-darter in the next, but Littler responded by winning successive legs to lead for the first time at 7-6.
Wade managed to keep in touch, helped by a bull finish in the 19th leg, and fought back from a double break down to cut the gap to just one at 14-13.

But Littler pulled away and crossed the line in style with a 115 out shot (20-57-38), the biggest finish of the match.
'A little bit,' Littler said when asked if he had felt in control. 'Five-nil down once again, I said, 'I've been here before, what are you doing?'
'But I managed to pull it out of the bag and win the next five. I've shown I can come back from 5-0 or 7-3 down.
'I'm happy I can pull myself out of these scorelines, but I don't want to be 5-0 down again.
'James started to drop off a bit and I started to find my best darts.'
By winning the title 18-year-old Littler became the youngest ever champion in Matchplay history, six years younger than Wade when he lifted the title.

Premier League clubs can refuse TV dressing room access on one condition
New TV deal for Sky Sports and TNT in the UK will see Premier League clubs having to grant more behind the scenes access than before - but clubs can say no if they are losing Premier League teams have been given veto powers when it comes to allowing cameras into their dressing rooms next season if they are losing. Dressing-room access is one of a number of enhancements being granted by top-flight clubs as part of the new domestic television dea l with Sky Sports and TNT Sports, along with half-time player or manager interviews and in-match interviews with managers or substituted players which must be "positive." Clubs must allow broadcasters one of those enhancements at least twice per season, according to details of the broadcasting arrangements for the new campaign set out in Section K of the league's latest handbook. However, clubs can refuse the access if they are losing at the time the access was due to be provided, but must then accommodate another request for access later in the season. Broadcasters must make requests to clubs for the enhanced access at least five days before the match and set out which access is preferred. Clubs must then respond at least 72 hours in advance of the match which of the three types of access they intend to deliver. Broadcasters and clubs will work together to ensure the content gathered is 'positive and non-controversial', the handbook states. Dressing-room access can either be between the end of the warm-up and the first bell rung prior to kick-off, between the ringing of the first bell and players departing the dressing room, at half-time or immediately after the match, once all players have returned to the dressing room. Clubs will also have the final say on whether audio is recorded. For half-time interviews, clubs and broadcasters must mutually agree no later than 24 hours before a match whether a player or manager will be made available. In the case of a player, they will be chosen from a shortlist of at least five compiled by the broadcaster and provided to the club no later than the 40th minute of the match. Interviews will consist of no more than three questions, the handbook said, and be 'related to the league match' and 'positive' and the in-match interviews will either involve a manager or a substituted player, with the manager or player made available no later than the 85th minute of the match. These interviews will feature no more than two questions. Sky will broadcast a record minimum of 215 top-flight games from this season under a new four-year agreement, up from 128 games, with every fixture played on Sundays now set to be televised domestically. The opening match of its coverage will involve champions Liverpool hosting Bournemouth on Friday, August 15. Dressing-room access has been trialled previously. Last season TNT Sports worked with Brentford under an agreement between their executives.

Tadej Pogacar explains reason behind pulling out of Vuelta a Espana after Tour de France victory
Four-time Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar is set to skip the Vuelta a Espana, leaving the year's final Grand Tour as one of the few races he still has yet to win. Pogacar - who equalled Chris Froome 's four titles in Paris on Sunday - has cut a more downbeat figure than usual at points during this Tour de France, saying 'I can't wait for the Tour to be over' during the tough final week in the Alps, and admitting afterwards that it was the hardest edition of the race he has contested. This year's route featured five hors-categorie summit finishes and a punchy, Classics-style opening week before gruelling stints in the Pyrenees and Alps, and a full-throttle finish taking in several steep climbs up Montmartre in Paris. So it is not a huge surprise that the 26-year-old has opted out of racing the Vuelta a Espana, which starts on 23 August in Torino, Italy. 'After such a demanding Tour, we decided it was best to take a break,' Pogacar said through his team on Tuesday. 'The Vuelta is, of course, a race I would dearly love to return to. I have fantastic memories there from 2019, but now the body is telling me to rest.' He added that his race calendar for the second half of the year will include the Grands Prix in Canada in September, and that a major target will be the World Championships, held at altitude in Kigali, Rwanda. 'I'm excited to go back to Canada; the races are tough but beautiful, and they fit my style well. I'll be aiming to be back racing well again for that part of the season and for the World Championships especially,' he said. Pogacar would have been a heavy favourite for the Vuelta, which he has not ridden since his breakout year in 2019, when he made his Grand Tour debut there. The Slovenian, then aged 20, won three stages and the best young rider classification en route to a third-place finish overall. In his absence two-time Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard, who finished second behind Pogacar in Paris, is the favourite to win the maillot rojo. His Visma-Lease a Bike squad have not confirmed their final lineup for the Vuelta. Pogacar's UAE Team Emirates-XRG team have named their eight-man squad for the race, which was won by Pogacar's compatriot Primoz Roglic of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe last year. Portuguese climber Joao Almeida, who crashed heavily early in the Tour and abandoned with a broken rib, is set to be a co-leader along with Spanish rider Juan Ayuso at his home race. York hopes Onley betters her achievements after matching Tour de France record
Philippa York hopes Oscar Onley can surpass her achievements on the track after equalling the best ever finish for a Scottish cyclist in the Tour de France. York, then known as Robert Millar, set the record by finishing fourth in the race back in 1984, and that stood alone for 41 years before being matched on Sunday. The 22-year-old, from Kelso, narrowly missed out on a podium place when he finished one minute and 12 seconds behind third-placed Florian Lipowitz in his first attempt at the Tour last week. After the race, Onley said the performance 'sparked a dream' that he can achieve more in the future. And York, now 66, agrees with that sentiment and will be cheering on her successor to achieve as much as he can in the sport, and in turn, encourage the next generation of Scottish cyclists.
