Train services between Nashik and Mumbai continue to be affected
Senior officers of the Nashik Road Railway Station said that although the Mumbai-bound Panchavati Express and Rajya Rani Express departed at their scheduled time on Wednesday morning, long journey trains arriving from the Mumbai side were running late.
The Mumbai-Dhule Express has been cancelled. The Amravati-Mumbai Express which was halted at Nashik Road Railway Station on Tuesday will depart at its scheduled time from Nashik Road for Amravati. Many trains are running late. Nearly 140 trains pass through Nashik Road Railway Station in both the directions. Officials of the commercial department of the Nashik Road Railway Station are attending to the queries of the rail passengers at the railway station.
Road traffic between Nashik and Mumbai has also been affected. MSRTC officials said many buses from the Mumbai side reaching Nashik have been cancelled.
Meanwhile, loose boulders in the Kasara Ghat section fell on the Mumbai-Nashik lane of the Mumbai Agra Highway early Wednesday. The highway police said that the movement of traffic was less due to the rains. They have kept one lane of the road open for traffic. If the rain continues, the entire road will be closed for traffic, and the traffic from the Mumbai side will be diverted to the adjacent Nashik-Mumbai lane.
After almost three weeks, rains revived in Nashik district from Tuesday night. Nashik city received 44 mm of rainfall in the last 12 hours up to 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The water level of the Godavari River increased up to the knee of the Dutondya Maruti idol, which is the yardstick to measure the flood level of the river. The discharge from Gangapur Dam started on Wednesday morning at 2,657 cusecs. The discharge below the Ahilyabai Holkar Bridge near the Ramkund in Godavari was at 3,590 cusecs on Wednesday morning.
The rains also led to water-logging at various places across Nashik city, causing inconvenience to motorists.

Flood waters disrupt highway traffic and service roads in Kolhapur
Kolhapur: Floodwaters inundated the service road of Pune-Bengaluru National Highway at Shiroli village near Kolhapur city on Thursday, resulting in extremely slow movement of vehicles on Kolhapur stretch. Sandeep Chougale, an employee of Shiroli MIDC, said, "As floodwaters have come up on the Kasba Bawda-Shiye stretch, I have to take a long diversion via Tawade Hotel-Sangli Phata-Shiroli-Nagaon-Shiroli MIDC route to reach the place where I work. A mere 5-minute distance has now turned into an almost one-hour drive due to the heavy traffic." Swept away in stream, Hoshiarpur village man found dead 2km downstream; Punjab minister tours flood-hit districts
Hoshiarpur/Ferozepur: The body of a 35-year-old man, who was swept away in a seasonal stream near Hoshiarpur district's Fatehgarh Niara village on Wednesday, was found 2km downstream near Khalwana village. It is learnt the deceased, Baljinder Singh, resident of the same village, was taking a bath in the stream on Wednesday evening when a strong current, due to heavy rain, swept him away. His body was recovered in the morning. The body was found on a day when state water resources minister Barinder Goyal toured flood-hit villages in the border district of Ferozepur. He promised all kind of assistance to people who suffered losses in the floods. During his visit to the flood-hit villages of Tendi Wala, Ghazniwala, and Dheera Ghara, Goyal said chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was monitoring relief efforts. "Punjab govt will fully compensate farmers and residents for their losses," he said. Accompanied by MLAs Ranbir Singh Bhullar, Rajneesh Kumar Dahiya, and Fauja Singh Sarari, Goyal informed that eight cabinet ministers had been assigned to supervise relief operations in different districts to ensure direct outreach to affected families. Villages have been divided into sectors, with officers tasked with delivering prompt support on the ground, he said. Reviewing flood-prevention measures, Goyal said the Punjab govt already spent Rs 276 crore on flood control works, and soil-filled bags have been placed along embankments for emergency use.
