Wild week ends with Big Dance chance for Victory Roll
Murphy had Victory Roll in at Wagga last Tuesday, with that meeting transferred to Narrandera on Thursday before eventually being abandoned due to bad weather.
'It hasn't been an ideal week given meetings being moved and then called off, but hopefully it all works out well in the end on Sunday,' said Murphy, who has Richard Bensley booked to ride Victory Roll in the Forbes feature.
Victory Roll is a five-time winner from 25 starts with more than $170,000 in prizemoney.
'He's a Highway winner in town at Randwick and also won a midweeker at Canterbury,' said Murphy.
'He's had a few runs back from a spell now and while he's still at the 1600m at Forbes he does have the benefit of gate one which should give him his chance.'
Victory Roll lines up against the Danielle Seib prepared Due Calzini in the Forbes Cup, with that galloper also having been in the same races at Wagga and Narrandera that were eventually called off. Due Calzini has won his past two starts and drops in distance for this with apprentice Jessica Brookes taking the ride.
Meanwhile, Murphy and Bensley will also combine in the opening event at Forbes when Performing Diva contests the Shead & Nicholson/Daikin/Seeley International Country Boosted Maiden Plate (1100m).
Performing Diva has only had two starts for a fourth on debut at Nowra in February before a second at Goulburn on February 28.

Naden fined as Tigers learn fate over khawd gesture
The NRL has issued Brent Naden with a breach notice over his social-media post taunting Canterbury, but opted against fining Wests Tigers players for their on-field khawd. Three days after the Tigers' emotion-fuelled win over the Bulldogs, the NRL issued a trio of players a formal warning on Wednesday morning. But the league opted against sanctioning the group, with confusion still reigning over the true meaning of the gesture made at Bulldogs supporters on Sunday. The khawd is known as an equivalent to 'flipping the bird' in the Arabic community, with Naden and brothers Samuela and Latu Fainu among the players involved. Debate raged since Monday over the offensiveness of the gesture, with NRL CEO Andrew Abdo admitting on Tuesday he also had to 'learn up' on the matter. 'The NRL has today issued Wests Tigers with a formal warning that relates to the on-field conduct of three Players on 3 August 2025, during round 22,' the NRL said in a statement. 'The NRL acknowledges that these actions caused, or had the potential to cause, offence to members of the NRL community.' Naden, though, is facing a fine from the NRL over a social media video that went viral on Sunday night. The former Canterbury centre appeared to film himself making the gesture and yelling 'f***ing Dogs' to the camera. 'The notice alleges that Naden's conduct following the Wests Tigers match on 3 August 2025 contravened the NRL Code of Conduct,' the NRL said. 'The player will have five days to respond to the breach notice.' The NRL's current policy means sanctions are not announced when a breach notice is handed down, but Naden is expected to face a fine over the incident. Matt Lodge copped a $5000 sanction for sticking up his middle finger at the crowd in the final round of 2021, while playing for the Warriors.

Ex-Godolphin assistant can emulate former boss James Cummings
Ex-Godolphin assistant Nacim Dilmi will be eager to emulate a feat of his long-time boss James Cummings when he begins his first foray into training at Canterbury Park on Wednesday. 'James' first runner when he and Bart (Cummings) went into partnership was a winner, then when Bart passed away his first runner was a winner then his first runner at Godolphin was a winner,' Dilmi said. 'I spoke to James on Monday and told him I will try to do the same.' Dilmi is the latest Godolphin product to begin the next phase of his racing journey as new head trainer for Domeland on the Central Coast. The French-born horseman was announced as the replacement for Sara Ryan late last month and has moved to Wyong after several years heading up Godolphin's Melbourne operation. Domeland has 35 boxes at Wyong racecourse and a 260-acre Kulnura property that features a 3000m grass track. READ: Japan stint has jet-setting Dee primed to sprinkle some spring 'magic' 'Sara has been here for a few years now and Tuesday was actually my second day,' Dilmi said. 'If the horses go well on Wednesday, I can't really take much credit because Sara has done most of the work with the horses. 'From what I've seen the horses are in good form and everyone in the stable has been helpful.' Dilmi's first runner as a trainer will be last start Tamworth winner Rebel Rhapsody ($21) in the Keeneland September Yearling Sale Benchmark 64 (1550m). How Much Better ($10) is in the Casino Prince @ Vinery Stud Benchmark 72 Handicap (1550m) while Aix En Provence ($11) contests the Asahi Super Dry Handicap (1900m). He won't have to wait long for a maiden Sydney Saturday runner with Irish import Salt Lake City poised to line up in Saturday's Premier's Cup Prelude (1800m) at Royal Randwick. 'It's a great opportunity and for me to be able to start with horses that are ready to go is handy, walking into a business that is already up and going,' Dilmi said. 'It makes it easier but at the same time I have to make it my own and the changes may take a few weeks. 'If we can adapt and make it a great start to the season, it will be make it better.' Dilmi's former employer Godolphin got their next chapter off to a winning start last weekend when classy mare Amusing scored for new trainer Chris Waller in what was their first runner for a public stable. Horse Racing Trainer Matt Laurie is excited to unleash Caulfield Cup-nominated Group 1 star Treasurethe Moment against Australia's best equine talent in the Melbourne Spring Carnival. Horse Racing Group 1 jockey Michael Dee has a renewed focus this spring following a successful two month stint in Japan.
