Meet Mo Salah's scientist wife who avoids the limelight but has been by his side since they were children

Daily Mail26-05-2025
As Liverpool fans rejoiced at Anfield after their football club won the Premier League trophy on Sunday, nobody was prouder than Mohamed Salah 's wife, Magi Salah.
The Egyptian-born footballer, 32, was awarded the Golden Boot for the fourth time after scoring 29 goals in his 38 league appearances - putting him in the history books alongside legend Thierry Henry.
After seeing all of his hard work pay off, supportive wife Magi and their two daughters, Makka, 10, and Kayan, five, rushed onto the pitch to give the beloved husband and father a heartfelt cuddle.
But these public appearances are usually limited as Magi shies away from the limelight, valuing her privacy.
The 31-year-old likes to keep her family life under wraps and while many other WAGs are used to having active social media profiles with thousands of followers in tow, Magi does not appear to have any public online presence.
Mohamed - known more commonly as Mo - married his childhood sweetheart in 2013, when she was just 19 years old in a small Islamic ceremony and they had their first daughter Makka a year later.
The couple grew up in the same place, a small farming village of Nagrig, and both attended the Mohamed Eyad Al-Tantawi School, where their friendship as teenagers slowly blossomed into love.
After completing her qualifications at school, Magi then went on to pursue biotechnology at Alexandria University, following her passion for science.
Both of her parents come from a teaching background and encouraged both Magi, her twin sister Mohab and her siblings Mahy and Miriam, to work hard in their education.
Although the mother-of-two is trained professionally as a biotechnician, she now dabbles in philanthropy alongside her husband.
Magi and Mo often travel back to Nagrig every Ramadan to celebrate the Muslim event with their loved ones and also to give back to their community.
The pair have provided financial support to their village in the form of donating food, appliances, medical equipment, along with funding school projects, hospitals and clean water facilities.
But while Mo - who is thought to earn £380,000 a week - is known to be a more public figure, Magi is happy to take a back seat and help those less fortunate quietly.
The parents moved to Merseyside after Mo changed clubs for a then-record contract of £39million in 2017.
The family-of-four now live in mansion in the northern city and are proud to call it 'home', adding that his wife felt content with where they had put down their roots.
'They feel at home,' Mo said. 'They were very happy, Magi and the kids, they were very happy that we're staying another two years. It feels like home so everyone was happy.'
The brood went on a trip to Disney last November, with Mo sharing images of his wife and children clad with Mickey ears enjoying rides and running around the theme park.
The Salah brood reside in the same neighbourhood as Manchester City's Erling Haaland in the affluent county of Cheshire.
Mo has joked in the past that the house 'looks like a hospital' - much to the dismay of Magi - as it is kitted out with two gym rooms and also has cryotherapy facilities and a hyperbaric chamber.
Cryotherapy is the use of ice-led machines to decrease swelling by constricting blood vessels, while a hyperbaric chamber has air pressure levels three times higher than normal conditions to help the lungs spread more oxygen around the body.
But while Mo admits that he is always looking to improve his physical condition, it can sometimes get in the way of time with Magi.
'I am constantly looking to improve my physical condition,' he once told France Football.
'It's true that I like to say that my house looks like a hospital, [but] my wife doesn't like that! [She] says that I spend more time with my machines than with her!'
For Makka's birthday, the loving parents decorated one of their rooms full of pale pink balloons as they gathered around the cake to mark her special day
Magi features on Mo's Instagram feed in sweet family snaps a handful of times each year, usually at Christmas.
The pair engage in the Christian holiday by decorating a tree and posing in adorable matching pyjamas, despite both being devout Muslims, which causes some backlash from religious fans.
However, when Mo does post his family, many comments are about rarely-seen Magi, with some followers calling her 'stunning' and 'gorgeous'.
The brood went on a trip to Disney last November, with Mo sharing images of his wife and children clad with Mickey ears enjoying rides and running around the theme park.
Another shows the Salah household posing for a selfie seemingly dressed up as pirates for a party.
Others include the family-of-four celebrating milestone events, such as Mo's 30th birthday spent on a beach vacation.
For Makka's birthday, the loving parents decorated one of their rooms full of pale pink balloons as they gathered around the cake to mark her special day.
In an interview with Liverpool last year, Mo said his daughters were starting to pick up the Scouse accent after spending the majority of their lives in the city.
He said: 'My kids are Scousers now! Their language is like the accent as well. So, it's a big change.'
Like her father, their eldest daughter Makka is also seemingly heading for a life in the spotlight, after starring in the hit Egyptian series 'Kamel El Adad'.
Makka had a small role and played one of the children who had been playfully locked in a box by her peers, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Ethan Ampadu injury blow for Leeds

Head coach Daniel Farke confirmed Ampadu has damaged a medial collateral ligament in a knee and will miss Saturday's Premier League game at Arsenal and the following two matches. Ampadu was outstanding in Leeds' opening win against Everton at Elland Road on Monday before being hurt in a second-half challenge from Tim Iroegbunam, which later forced the Wales midfielder off. Farke said: 'It's bad news with him sadly. The next (few) games we have to play without him. 'MCL injury, he will definitely be out until at least the international break. I hope to have him back the other side of the international break. He's pretty quick after injury back on the training pitch. 'He's a tough boy. It's a blow for us, we will miss him in the upcoming games at least and the two upcoming Premier League games and the cup game.' After this weekend's trip to the capital, Leeds play at Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and then face Newcastle at Elland Road a week on Saturday. 🔥 Noah Okafor is Leeds! — Leeds United (@LUFC) August 21, 2025 Farke said Switzerland winger Noah Okafor is in contention for his Leeds debut at the Emirates Stadium after completing his move from AC Milan earlier on Thursday for a fee which could rise to £18million. Okafor, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Serie A champions Napoli, is Leeds' ninth summer signing following promotion to the Premier League. Farke added: 'He has really good pace, he's a really good dribbler, really good on the offensive one-on-one. 'A strong player as well. I don't want to pressure him too much because he's not played one game, so I'll let him deliver before, but from his skills, he has more or less everything to impress, and it's up to him.' Okafor's arrival is expected to end Leeds' interest in Tottenham winger Manor Solomon, who played a starring role for Daniel Farke's Championship-winning side on loan last season. Leeds have now spent around £92million in total on new players since ending their two-year top-flight absence. Farke, who also wants to add a full-back to his squad, said he was still hoping to further boost his attacking options before the transfer window closes on September 1. Okafor, who began his professional career at Basel, scored 34 goals and made 23 assists in 110 appearances for Salzburg before joining AC Milan in a £13.4m deal in July 2023. He scored seven goals and made five assists in two seasons at the Serie A club, which included his four-month loan spell at Napoli, and has 24 caps for Switzerland.

Gisele Bundchen offers rare insight into her daily life as she wears a swimsuit, holds her baby and plays pool with her beau

Gisele Bundchen offered fans a rare look at what her daily life is like in a new portfolio shared to Instagram on Thursday. In one of the images she was seen holding her baby boy as his blonde hair could be seen but not his face. The siren from Brazil had her third child, whom she shares with partner Joaquim Valente, in her arms as she wore no makeup with her hair down and a green tank top on. Another shot showed her with the child strapped to her chest as she wore pale gray workout clothes while looking at a horse. And there was an image of the baby's hand as Gisele flashed her star tattoo. The 45-year-old Versace model was also seen in a bright orange one-piece swimsuit with her dog by her side as she drove a vehicle. Her hair was worn down as she flashed a summer tan. There was also a shot of her playing pool with Valente, as the pair seem closer than ever. There were martial arts photos on the wall, hinting they were in a workout studio. And there were images of Gisele's family members in what looked like a trip to her native Brazil. Her sister was by her side as they did glass blowing together. There was a beautiful photo of a sunset over lush, wild mountains and her son could be seen playing basketball with her love Valente. Gisele has not revealed the first name of her third baby, though People claims the middle name is River. Friends told Daily Mail that Gisele has chosen a first name for her boy that is 'close to her heart' with a family tie. One added the boy may be called Van, which is shortened version of Vânia Nonnenmacher, the name of the model's late mother. He could also be called Valdir, after her father, or Pat, a shortened male version of her twin sister's name, Patricia. The Brazilian star also shares son Benjamin, 15, daughter Vivian, 12, and stepson Jack, 17, with ex-husband Tom Brady. This comes after the bombshell posed for the cover of Vogue France in May. The catwalk veteran shared she is 'back in her rhythm' as she posed for her first shoot since welcoming her third child. In an interview with the publication, Gisele shared she's 'very grateful' she was able to spent so much time with her baby boy after giving birth. She said: 'Having my hair and make-up done makes me feel like I'm on vacation: with a baby, the nights are so short that I've hardly brushed my hair in recent months!' Gisele went onto say: 'Now that my little one is sleeping through the night, I'm back in control of my rhythm. As any new mother knows, it's amazing how much sleep or lack of it can change everything! 'But then again, I feel really grateful: being able to be at home with my children and enjoy every moment with them is priceless.' Gisele, who began dating Joaquim in June 2023, went added that following her split from husband Tom, she now feels she's become more resilient. The model's dog law on a rug next to several pieces of luggage with initials on it The star added: 'I feel more comfortable in my own skin, and my priorities are clearer. I'm grateful to be where I am. I feel like I've earned it.' In April she posted first snap of her youngest child on Instagram since his February arrival. In the sweet snap, her son's face was nestled into his mother's shoulder and wore an adorable 'I heart Mom' onesie. The post also included a rare snap of Gisele with her children and boyfriend. In the photo, the four shared an embrace whilst the model held her newborn child, whose face was concealed with a red heart emoji. 'I've been quiet over here but very busy living life... Sometimes, the most beautiful moments aren't shared — they're simply lived. Lately, I've been embracing the slower rhythms, the real connections, the beauty in the lessons that come with being present.' Gisele was also particularly missing her mother Vânia Nonnenmacher, who passed at age 75 in January 2024 from cancer. 'Today, on Mother's Day, I specially miss my mom, but my heart is full. Being a mother it's been my greatest gift, a journey that humbles me, teaches me, and fills me with gratitude every single day. 'To all the mothers out there, your love shapes the world in ways words can't describe. I see you, I honor you. Happy mother's day! Sending so much love your way!' In October, Bundchen's pregnancy news was revealed - leaving her ex, Brady, 'stunned' by the revelation. A source recently told how Gisele and Joaquim broke the pregnancy news to Brady. The model informed Tom that she was expecting her first child with Valente shortly after telling their children because she wanted him to hear it from her first rather than through media reports. 'Gisele and Joaquim were not planning to have a child together. This was unexpected. Joaquim has always wanted a family, so she is happy to be able to give this to him,' said a source. 'She knew that he would be a great father when her kids started taking classes with him. He is patient, playful and so understanding,' the insider stated. Both Benjamin and Vivian were 'absolutely thrilled' over the big news, the source also shared.
