Kai Cenat On Not Recognizing Wale At BET Awards: 'How Can You Blame Me? I'm Young!'

Yahooa day ago

Streamer Kai Cenat has addressed the awkward moment where he ran into Wale at the 2025 BET Awards without recognizing the DMV rapper.
Cenat took to his beloved chat Thursday (June 12) to address the moment, saying that he hopes Wale didn't take the snub to heart. 'I'mma go ahead and say to Wale, I hope he didn't take my interaction personal…how can you blame me from being who I am? You feel me? I'm young!'
He then proceeded to play Wale single 'Lotus Flower Bomb' featuring Miguel, saying that he knows the song, but then questions what year it dropped, which is 2011. '2011? I was nine years old.'
Many agreed that Cenat, 23, should be cut some slack for not recognizing the 'LoveHate Thing' artist, 40, with one fan commenting, 'It's just like my dad saying he doesn't know Olivia Rodrigo.. I won't even sweat about it.'
Most fans, however, don't believe the Streamer University creator's age is an excuse, — if he claims to be a lover of Hip-Hop music and culture — as Wale has dropped several successful singles and albums since 2011. Others noted that Wale is in the same class as artists Kai does recognize, such as Kid Cudi and J. Cole, who are also in there early 40s.
'Biggie died when I was 9 and I know all his music.. kai you are uncultured, kid,' offered one critic, with another writing, 'When I was 9 I knew artists way before my time.'
Another fan brought up the fact that Cenat welcomed Vybz Kartel to his chat following his 2024 prison release, and knew songs released by the Dancehall legend from the early 2000s, before he caught a murder charge in 2014. 'He don't know Wale ft Rihanna bad (2013), but he know Vybz Kartel songs like 'Clarks' came out 2011 from Jamaica, and don't know mainstream US artists that dropped round that time.'
The original incident found Wale and Kai crossing paths at Tuesday's (June 10) BET Awards, where they dapped each other up, exchanged a quick greeting, and kept it moving. Kai then revealed to his chat that he had no idea who he was speaking to, pronouncing his name 'Wally.' Wale later confronted the streamer over the moment, telling him, 'That sh*t making me look crazy now, just so you know.' Check out the interaction below.

The 7 Best Watches of the Week, From Kevin Hart's Patek Philippe to Colman Domingo's Omega

Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff weren't the only people showing off enviable wrist candy this week. Comedian Kevin Hart delivered a punchy monologue at the BET Awards on Monday evening, wearing an equally punchy Patek Philippe Split Seconds Chronograph that typically commands around $400,000 on the secondary market. Actor Jonathan Daviss and singer Giveon also attended the ceremony, sporting timepieces by TAG Heuer and Cartier, respectively. More from Robb Report An Abraham Lincoln-Signed Copy of the 13th Amendment Could Fetch $12 Million at Auction This Swinging Laurel Canyon Abode Has Hosted Everyone From Mick Jagger to a 1980s Bond Girl Maestro Dobel Just Dropped a New Collection of High-End Extra Añejo Tequilas English footballer Trent Alexander-Arnold took a leaf out of Hart's book, rocking a dazzling Patek as he signed with Real Madrid on Thursday. At the slightly more subtle end of the watch-flexing spectrum, actors Colman Domingo and Kieran Culkin both showed off Omegas on the streets of New York City on Wednesday. We also spotted movie star Christian Slater wearing a Rolex Datejust as he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday. Below are the best watch flexes of the week. Trent Alexander-Arnold kicked off his career with Real Madrid in wonderful fashion. The British soccer star wore what appeared to be a Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711 with an olive green dial and diamond-set bezel during his unveiling as a new player on Thursday. Released in April 2021, this limited edition was in production for about one year before Patek discontinued the model. The timepiece was reportedly only distributed to VIP clients, too. (Mark Wahlberg, Sylvester Stallone, Drake, and Ed Sheeran are a few of the A-listers in possession of the wrist candy.) As such, the reference is exceedingly difficult and extremely expensive to buy on the secondary market. Pre-owned examples on Chrono24 start at about $600,000, to give you an idea. Kevin Hart likely won the hearts of horophiles wearing his Patek Philippe Split Seconds chronograph to the BET Awards on Monday. Produced for a scant period of 16 years (from 1996 to 2012), this holy grail timepiece houses a sophisticated split seconds chronograph and a perpetual calendar in a remarkably small 36.5 mm case. Even holier than the average Ref. 5004 is Hart's Ref. 5004G: It is estimated that only roughly 140 of these white-gold references were made, making them rarer than both yellow-gold and platinum examples. The white-gold grails go for around $400,000 on the secondary market. Giveon channeled Keith Richards at the 2025 BET Awards, wearing a Panthère de Cartier watch like his fellow singer-songwriter famously did throughout his rock 'n' roll career. This particular Panthère watch (currently unavailable on the Cartier website) features a 23.6 mm yellow gold case set with 134 brilliant-cut diamonds and a panther head fitted with pear-shaped tsavorite eyes. The 'Chicago Freestyle' singer paired the small but striking timepiece with a Clash de Cartier necklace, Cartier Juste un Clou pin, and not one but two Trinity de Cartier rings. Now that's how you accessorize for a red carpet, gents. Kieran Culkin might believe in good horological juju. The A Real Pain star is still rocking the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra he wore when he won the SAG award for Best Supporting Actor. The two-tone timepiece features a 38 mm case and bracelet in steel and the Swiss watchmaker's proprietary Moonshine gold, as well as a sun-brushed burgundy dial with a black gradient effect and gold accents. Culkin appears to be a fan of red dials: He wore a Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades with a terra-cotta dial to the Golden Globes earlier this year. He won then, too; maybe Omegas with red dials are good luck. The Seamaster with a burgundy dial will cost you $13,600. Jonathan Daviss, famous for playing Pope Heyward in Netflix's Outer Banks, rocked a red carpet–worthy TAG Heuer Carrera Date at this year's BET Awards. A sleek, contemporary riff on the 1960s Carrera, the timepiece features a steel 39 mm case and a matching silver sunray dial. The iconic TAG Heuer shield occupies pride of place at 12 o'clock while a date window sits at 6. Flip it over, and the high-performance Calibre 5 automatic movement can be fully appreciated through the sapphire caseback. The entry-level model is priced at $3,300. Could Colman Domingo be the new James Bond? He's certainly dressing his wrist like he is. The multihypenate wore the sleek 007 edition of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M on the streets of New York City on Wednesday. The dive watch is identical to the one worn by the world-famous spy (played by Daniel Craig) in No Time to Die, with a 42 mm titanium case, a brown tropical dial and bezel, and the in-house Co-Axial Master Chronometer 880. It also features the 'Broad Arrow' logo at six o'clock in homage to the military watches of the past. Released in 2019 in tandem with the film, the timepiece was originally priced at $9,200 but now costs $10,600. Christian Slater wore a rather understated Rolex Datejust 36 as he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday. This modern iteration of the 1945 original was produced from 2004 to 2019. In that 15-year run, Ref. 116200 was issued with many different dial variations, from a two-tone 'tuxedo' design to a pink floral face. The Ref. 116200 was also given a new smooth bezel in place of the fluted original and finished in the newly introduced Oystersteel. Slater's example features a black dial with large indices and a President's bracelet. You can pick up a similar piece for under $10,000.

Kai Cenat Blames His Age On Wale Ignorance, X Not Convinced: 'I'm Young!'

Source: Kayla Oaddams / Getty Streamer Kai Cenat and rapper Wale found themselves in 2025-worthy non-controversy during and after the 2025 BET Awards on Monday night (June 9). After Kai ran into Wale but had seemingly had no idea who he was, he says to blame his youth, not his heart, basically. As previously reported, Wale was playing on his Nintendo Switch and ran into Kai Cenat. But, while streaming live, Kai asked 'What he do?' and had to be hipped that it was a rapper, while also mispronouncing said MC's name. Social media loves a controversy and the chirping commenced, but Wale added gas to the moment by later approaching Kai on quiet (not really), and saying their previous hallway interactions was making him look 'crazy.' However, Kai was mic'd up and the audio came in crystal clear to the entire world. Add Wale's alleged history of 'sensitivity' to the mix and a faux-controversy was launched. Fast forward to Thursday (June 12), and Kai Cenat is claiming it's his age that caused the Wale ignorance. 'I'ma go ahead and say to Wale, umm, I hope he didn't take my interaction personal, ya feel me…how can you blame me from just being who I am? You feel me? I'm young!,' said Kai on his chat. After proceeding to play Wale's hit with Miguel 'Lotus Flower Bomb,' Kai added, after noting he knows the song, '2011? I was nine years old.' Many people pointed to Kai's youth off the rip. But many are also unconvinced, considering being aware of pop culture goes with his streamer lifestyle/gig. But also, as Wale has noted, they have met and interacted before. Also, if Kai is into J. Cole and Drake as he has claimed, how are you not familiar with Wale? All that to say, expect Wale to be streaming with Kai Cenat before the summer is up. Probably. Are you buying what Kai Cenat is selling? Check out reactions in the gallery. Chris Brown Releases New Single ‘Holy Blindfold' Amid U.K. Assault Case

Chris Brown Hot off his record-extending wins at this year's BET Awards and just days after kicking off his Breezy Bowl XX world tour, Chris Brown has released a new single, 'Holy Blindfold.' It's the latest new music from the R&B singer since the release of his Grammy-winning 11:11 (Deluxe) album last April, and comes less than a month after Brown was charged with assault in connection to an alleged 2023 U.K. nightclub confrontation and subsequently released on bail. On 'Holy Blindfold,' Brown pleads with a lover to be his solace over The Monsters & Strangerz, Jon Bellion, and Tenroc's dreamlike production. 'Lost and I can't find my center / Hope can't help the skelter in my chest / Your arms provide my shelter / Only way I sleep through my unrest,' he croons on the track. 'Let the sky fall / If I'm lookin' at you, then my lens is a rose / Holy blindfold / When I'm lookin' at you, God rest my soul / Feel like I saw the light.' Brown's 11:11 album, along with the ongoing Breezy Bowl XX tour, is meant to commemorate the singer's career more than 20 years after his debut. The album's title refers to it being his 11th LP and contains 11 tracks, while the tour is in celebration of two decades in the music business. 'I feel like at this point in my career, in my life… what I get my joy from is filling them stands up," he told Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay in 2023. Performing on stage at award shows is a drop in the bucket for him compared to entertaining audiences around the world in his own shows. '[It] The Breezy Bowl XX tour kicked off June 8 in Amsterdam and wraps up Oct. 18 in Memphis. Brown is due back in U.K. court in connection to the assault case on June 20, the day before he kicks off a two-night stint at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
