Security forces successfully neutralized two female Maoist insurgents during an ongoing counter-insurgency operation in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, according to police statements released Thursday.
The armed confrontation occurred Wednesday night in the dense Abhujmaad forest region, specifically within the jurisdiction of Kohkameta police station. A combined security team comprising District Reserve Guard (DRG) units from both Narayanpur and Kondagaon districts, along with Special Task Force (STF) personnel, engaged the militants during a planned anti-Naxal mission.
Intelligence reports indicating the presence of high-ranking Maoist commanders from the Maad division prompted the security operation. The joint forces acted on credible information about senior cadre members operating in the area.
Authorities recovered the bodies of both female insurgents along with weapons including one INSAS rifle and a .315 bore rifle from the encounter site. Police officials confirmed that search and combing operations continue in the region as security forces maintain their presence to ensure complete neutralization of any remaining threats.
The encounter represents part of ongoing efforts by Chhattisgarh security forces to combat Maoist insurgency in the state's tribal-dominated regions, where militant groups have maintained a presence for decades.

Patna: In a significant crackdown in Bihar on narcotics trafficking, the Kishanganj Police, in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF), arrested two individuals near the railway station on Thursday and seized one kg heroin from their possession, an official said. The estimated market value of the seized substance is around Rs 1 crore. Kishanganj Superintendent of Police Sagar Kumar described the seizure and arrest a major achievement, stating that the joint team has successfully busted an inter-state drug trafficking network. The arrested individuals have been identified as Baliram Chaurasia, a resident of Shivrampur, Ballia district (Uttar Pradesh) and Lalita Devi, a resident of Muzaffarpur district (Bihar). According to SP Sagar Kumar, the police acted on specific intelligence input about the smuggling of banned substances through the district. A special team led by SDPO-1 Gautam Kumar was constituted to monitor suspicious activity in the area. 'The team intensified surveillance near the railway station, where they spotted the two suspects. Upon searching them, we recovered the banned substance,' said SP Kumar. During questioning, the accused revealed that they were tasked by a person from Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh) to travel to Manipur and smuggle heroin back. The arrested individuals were en route from Manipur when they were apprehended in Kishanganj, Bihar. 'At this point, we are withholding the name of the person who assigned them this task due to an ongoing investigation,' added the SP. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Town Police Station of the district against them. The police are now working to identify and apprehend other members of the smuggling network. A team will soon go to Ratlam to apprehend the kingpin of the racket. The district police are also verifying how they obtained heroin in Manipur. SP Sagar Kumar emphasised that the crackdown on drug trafficking will continue, and such operations are part of a larger campaign to curb the illegal narcotics trade in the region.

According to police, the gun battle erupted late Wednesday evening in the dense forests of the Abhujhmarh region, in the region of Kohkameta. The operation involved a joint team from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF), and they headed out on anti-Naxal operation, based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of senior Maoist cadres from the Marh division. Woman Cop Caught Taking Rs 95,000 Bribe In Maharashtra
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A woman police naik has been caught allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 95,000 from a person at the behest of an inspector in Maharashtra's Dharashiv district, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said on Thursday. The 34-year-old police naik, posted at Dharashiv rural police station, was arrested after being caught taking the bribe on Wednesday, an ACB official said. A person, whose son was accused in a case, had approached the inspector at the police station seeking help. The inspector asked the person to meet his woman colleague, who then allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh from the person on behalf of her senior and finalised the deal at Rs 95,000, the official said. Based on the person's complaint, the ACB laid a trap and caught the police naik while she was accepting the bribe amount from the person near a government guest house in Dharashiv on Wednesday. The accused inspector is currently hospitalised due to some health issues and would be arrested after being discharged, the official said, adding a search was carried out at the policeman's house. The ACB has seized two mobile phones each from both the accused and registered a case against them under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the official said.
