New Delhi, Jun 23 (PTI) The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) on Monday welcomed the order issued by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena to exempt eateries operating in the national capital from the requirement of obtaining a 'no-objection' certificate from police, saying the decision will reduce administrative hurdles and significantly improve ease of doing business.
'As per the new directive, restaurants operating in Delhi will no longer be required to obtain the Delhi Police Eating House License. This change will reduce administrative hurdles and significantly improve the ease of doing business for the F&B sector in the capital. This will also increase investments by the F&B Sector, which will bring in additional revenue to the Delhi government's exchequer in various forms in the future,' the NRAI stated.
This decision is expected to bring major relief to thousands of restaurant owners, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, who have long struggled with the burden of acquiring multiple governmental clearances, it added.

‘Big step taken today': Yogi Adityanath inaugurates UP's first green hydrogen project
Claiming that 'a big step has been taken today', Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday inaugurated the state's first green hydrogen plant in Gorakhpur, with the project aiming to produce 72,000 tonnes of green fuel in a year. The plant launched by Torrent Group will blend hydrogen with natural gas for distribution, and is being touted as 'a significant step in India's energy transition'. 'This is the first such plant in Uttar Pradesh and only second in the country. A big step has been taken today as this plant would ensure blending of green hydrogen with CNG (compressed natural gas) and PNG (piped natural gas),' the Chief Minister said. As a pilot project, the plant will mix 2% green hydrogen with natural gas (both CNG and PNG) for city gas distribution systems. 'The solar power is available only till there is sunlight. But this is the future source of energy. Research is going on to ensure that electricity is generated from hydrogen for round-the-clock supply. This new energy might be costly for the time being but just like mobile tariffs, it would become cheaper in the future,' said Adityanath. Speaking on the issue of climate change, he said, 'The rainfall, which is taking place now, should have occurred in July itself. It is all because of the climate change which is affecting the crops and how humans are playing not just with the environment but also lives.' But this can be changed with the use of organic farming and the use of alternative sources of energy, he added. 'Uttar Pradesh has a great potential in green hydrogen energy because of its water resources when compared to other states,' the CM said. Green hydrogen is hydrogen gas produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity produced through renewable energy sources. The green here doesn't mean that the produced hydrogen gas is of green colour; it is a reference to zero usage of fossil fuels in the production of hydrogen gas. Officials informed that the 2 MW renewable energy plant will generate hydrogen through electrolysis, reducing carbon emissions by around 500 tonnes. The state came up with its Green Hydrogen Policy last year, wherein the government will provide incentives and rebates for setting up of green hydrogen and green ammonia production facilities. The policy offers a 30% capital subsidy which will be up to 40 per cent for the first four projects in the state. Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan, who also attended the programme, termed the project a 'game-changer' that would script a new energy revolution in the district, while Sahjanwa MLA Pradeep Shukla said such projects were steering UP towards becoming a developed state by 2047. Kerala agriculture growth doubles national average, says CM Vijayan
'In the last financial year, while the agricultural sector at the national level recorded a growth of 2.1 per cent, Kerala achieved a growth of 4.65 per cent. Thrissur (Kerala), Aug 17 (PTI) Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Sunday that Kerala's agricultural sector is on the path of growth and that the state has achieved more than double the national average growth. 'A short-term agricultural programme named Mission 2026 and a long-term plan called Mission 2033 have been highly supportive in this effort,' the chief minister said on the occasion of the Malayalam New Year, Chingam 1. The state has also been able to implement a comprehensive crop insurance scheme, Vijayan said. He noted that during this government's tenure, paddy productivity had increased to 3,108 kg per hectare, while coconut cultivation achieved 54 per cent growth through the Keragramam project. The procurement of coconuts rose from 6.28 lakh tonne to 17.20 lakh tonne, the CM added. Vijayan said climate change, market uncertainties and wild animal attacks were adversely affecting the agricultural sector. 'To counter climate change and bring changes in value-added production, the state is implementing the KERA Project with World Bank support at a cost of Rs 2,365 crore. The project will directly benefit four lakh farmers and indirectly benefit another 10 lakh farmers,' he said. The chief minister added that this was the first major World Bank-supported project for the agricultural sector in 40 years. Vijayan said the agricultural calendar should be adjusted in line with climate change, and the sector should move forward through constructive discussions and innovative farming practices. The government, he said, was looking into combining modern technologies as well. 'More than 150 agritech start-ups have been launched. The government is also making efforts to carry out effective interventions in the value-added products sector. Moving ahead with the goal of branding agricultural value-added products under the motto 'One Krishi Bhavan, One Value-Added Product', over 200 value-added products have been prepared for marketing,' he said. The chief minister said curbing the menace of wild animals was indeed essential. 'However, this cannot be fully achieved through the intervention of the state government alone. Timely amendments to central laws are required, and for this the state government is putting pressure on the Centre,' he said. In addition, special projects that can be implemented at the state level have also been designed. The CM said the government's aim was to combine traditional farming practices with modern agriculture techinques and put them into practice.
