We're more than halfway through 2025, but many of the year's most anticipated movies have yet to come out. And in a year that's already gifted audiences cinematic works like Ponyboi, The Wedding Banquet, Enigma, and Heightened Scrutiny, this, of course, includes plenty of top-notch queer films.
Here are the comedies, dramas, romances, and period pieces that you should be sure to check out in the second half of 2025.

Tricia Cooke and husband Ethan Coen are back with the second film in their "lesbian B-movie trilogy" (following 2024's Drive-Away Dolls), and Margaret Qualley is back with them. This time, Qualley plays Honey O'Donahue, a private investigator in Bakersfield, California. When she's not flirting with a cop played by Aubrey Plaza, Honey is on the case, investigating a suspicious death and a charismatic cult leader played by Chris Evans.

James Sweeney wrote, directed, and stars opposite Dylan O'Brien in this dark comedy about two young men who form a close connection after meeting in a bereavement group for people who have lost a twin. As their relationship gets more intimate, lies start to build, secrets come out, and things get twisted. And if that weren't intriguing enough, O'Brien plays his own twin.

In Chad Hartigan's new romantic comedy, Jonah Hauer-King plays Connor, a lovesick young man who finally secures a date with his longtime crush, Olivia (Zoey Deutch). But Connor's plans for a romantic night out are upended when they meet a woman named Jenny (Ruby Cruz). The three have a threesome, and in a twist, both women end up pregnant. But that doesn't put a stop to the laughs, thanks to a very funny supporting cast featuring Jaboukie Young-White and Josh Segarra.

Legendary filmmaker Bill Condon (Chicago) has tackled a new film adaptation of the stage musical by Terrence McNally, John Kander, and Fred Ebb about a political prisoner (Diego Luna) who is forced to share a prison cell with a queer and trans prisoner (Tonatiuh) arrested for public indecency. This throwback to the musicals of Hollywood's Golden Age features brilliant performances by its two leads, as well as Jennifer Lopez, who plays the titular spider woman.

The next installment in Jon M. Chu's Wicked double feature comes out later this year, after the first film proved to be a smash hit in 2024. Cynthia Erivo returns as Elphaba and Ariana Grande returns as Glinda to finish out Chu's two-part adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical featuring queer anthems like Defying Gravity. Joining them on their journey back to Oz is Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, Michelle Yeoh, and the rest of the central cast from the first film.

TikTok sensation Talibelico unites Punjabi, Mexican roots through banda music
An exploding new talent is turning heads in Modesto for both his voice and his look. A 26-year-old TikTok sensation calls himself Talibelico — a combined term for magical impact, "talisman," and a style of movement in dance, "belico." His style and look have created a connection between the Punjabi and Mexican communities. His father is Indian and his mother is from Mexico. I sat down with Talibelico to ask what motivates his music. "It makes me happy. The banda makes me happy and I love what I'm doing, singing corridos and music," he said. Banda is the style of music he plays. Those who play with him say they were surprised when they met the man behind the voice. Juan Gallardo, who plays guitar, told CBS13 about the first time he heard Talibelico. "I seen him on TikTok a while back, back in 2023, and the first video I seen, I was like, 'He speaks Spanish,' " Gallardo said. Gallardo went on to say, "It's music that surely makes you want to move your feet, makes you want to dance, makes you want to get out of your comfort zone and just go at it." But it's not all fun lyrics for Talibelico. He has taken on more serious topics like the recent immigration raids, making several videos to try and calm the fears in the modesto community and elsewhere. In fact, he's working on a song about immigration concerns. But for now, the message takes a backseat to the music. Talibelico will be performing live this Sunday at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds.

The two have one of the most high-profile relationships, not just in the NFL but in all of sports and entertainment, even though some football fans find the attention it has attracted annoying. Kelce and Swift recently announced that the pop superstar will make an appearance by posting a teaser video on Instagram. NFL reporter Terry Rutledge couldn't contain her excitement over the news. 'OMGGGGGGGGGG,' Rutledge commented on Instagram. Rutledge Has Become a Big Figure in Sports Journalism In recent years, more and more women have been dominating sports reporting, and Rutledge has been all over the place when it comes to football. She started as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports, covering the network's broadcast of Tampa Bay Rays games and subsequently San Diego Padres contests. In 2013, she hosted "Chargers Insider," a show covering the then-San Diego Chargers. A year later, Rutledge started hosting halftime and postgame shows for Fox's coverage of college football. Early in the 2023 season, he said on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he invited Swift to a Chiefs game. The following week, Swift was at MetLife Stadium when Kansas City visited the New York Jets. Things snowballed from there, and before long, the two were confirmed to be dating. Plenty of football fans have complained about the attention Swift has gotten during telecasts of Chiefs games, which included camera shots of her sitting in the luxury suite at Arrowhead Stadium. But she has apparently brought in more fans and higher ratings for the NFL, which isn't exactly a bad thing. The Chiefs went on to win their third Super Bowl championship in five years by escaping the San Francisco 49ers at the end of the 2023 season.
