RIVAL bosses Kevin Doherty and Alan Reynolds were involved in a heated row on Friday night.
But neither manager was keen to discuss the incident after tempers had cooled.

After the game, Reynolds took exception to Doherty going over to celebrate with home supporters on the opposite side of the ground prior to shaking hands with him, although Drogheda staff claimed the Bohs boss had no interest in engaging in formalities between the game himself.
Nevertheless, Reynolds took Doherty to task over the perceived snub when both men returned from the dressing room to the pitch to conduct media interviews.
After Doherty dismissed his complaints, in earshot of many, Reynolds accused his counterpart of chasing his job at Dalymount Park last season.

The Dubliner flatly rejected the accusation but hit back by suggesting he could have gotten the position easily enough if he had wanted.
Reynolds has been under pressure at various points since succeeding Declan Devine in March of last year although they went into Friday's match on the back of six wins out of seven.
Staff from both sides and Bohs players - who were doing a warm down - both headed in the direction of the rowing pair and it briefly looked like the situation might escalate but it was soon defused.
Asked about what had happened, Doherty said: 'Nothing, I don't want to talk about it.

'I was celebrating. You're allowed to celebrate a win. There's nothing to say, I'd have a lot of respect for people at Bohs.'
Reynolds would say little either other than to suggest Doherty was too busy celebrating to greet him and that the issue of handshakes had gotten out of hand.

He claimed Rovers staff did not deserve to have the courtesy extended to them after the game and added he had intended blanking Bradley beforehand too.

But, similar to Reynolds did on Friday, he had attempted to draw a line under handshake controversies by suggesting his falling out with Bradley was 'nonsense'.

DROGS DELIGHT
For Doherty, he was chuffed to see Drogheda reach the midway point of their season with 29 points, just five short of their overall tally in 2024.
He said: 'Both teams had chances. I turned around to Daire Doyle at one stage and said 'this is actually an exciting game', not that I cared.
'It shows you how far we've come. That's as many wins we had all season last year and well-deserved. You have to defend as well but I thought we were a threat going the other way.
'It probably seemed that we dropped off. Dropped off? We've lost three games all year.

'We've played half the games now and I'm absolutely delighted that we're going down to Waterford in good form.
'It's one more before the break and if we can keep performing the way we are I'll be very happy.
'I said before that I think we needed the break. I probably need it myself. I think I hurt myself crossing the pitch, not like me to be injured.'
RUEFUL REYNOLDS
For Reynolds, he was left ruing the decision to rule out a goal for Jordan Flores in the first half and 18-year-old Hugh Smith being unable to convert a late chance.

But he had no issue with the penalty awarded against Sean Grehan for a foul on Conor Keeley.
He said: 'We deserved more than we got. We dominated from start to finish, really, but gave away a soft penalty. I am disappointed with that, Sean Grehan is a young player and has been excellent for us.
'I am disappointed with the goal from Flores, I feel it's a goal but the linesman makes a decision, you can't appeal these things, you can feel sorry about it but there's nothing you can do.
'We kept knocking on the door, but missed chances to get the equaliser. We bring on a young lad, Hughie Smith on for his debut, he has a great chance and he will learn from that.'

Smith got his chance as Lys Mousset has suffered a recurrence of an Achilles injury which will keep him out until after the break with Reynolds confirming Grehan would return to Crystal Palace at the end of June when his loan expires.

Josh Honohan: Versatility is definitely a strength of mine
Presuming John O'Shea is delegated defensive duties within the Irish coaching ticket would be dangerous with Heimir Hallgrímsson around. The Icelander's soundbites resonate with the last non-Irishman to take the reins, Giovanni Trapattoni, for the priority he places on fundamentals. Josh Honohan's promotion to the squad tallies with that outlook, the Corkman considered one of the best League of Ireland defenders in recent years. Sunday's introductory session at Abbotstown was a leisurely workout before the real work began on Monday. First things first for the Ireland boss was assembling his defenders away from the main group to engage in shadow drills without the ball. 'It's still fresh to me but you can see why he's been successful as an international manager,' said Honohan, referring to Hallgrímsson's track record with his homeland and Jamaica. 'He's shown me clips of the way we play and little principles we have. He wants us to be a well-drilled team with good shape - and you can see he is a top manager.' Honohan has two friendlies – at home to Senegal on Friday and away to Luxembourg next Tuesday – to make his debut and push for inclusion in the squad for the World Cup qualifiers. Silverware has eluded him since he left Cork City to join Shamrock Rovers chasing their fifth successive title at the start of last season. Shelbourne denied the Hoops that unprecedented sequence but his call-up to the Irish fold was based primarily on how he fared on the European run that included a trip to eventual Conference League champions Chelsea. While Colin Healy praised Honohan's lightning pace at City and Stephen Bradley talked up his ability to operate with either foot, he didn't always mark himself out as a future Ireland defender. 'I never went to the UK as a teen but never saw it as a negative,' said the 24-year-old, recalling several of his peers receiving invites from interested clubs. 'I played with Carrigaline United until I was 16. I was lucky I had great coaching down there and then I went to Cork City, the academy there, had brilliant managers there and I think that is definitely something that helped me. 'Coming to Shamrock Rovers last year, with the standards they set, the manager, and the rest of the staff there, has improved me. 'You always have confidence in your own ability because if you don't then nobody is going to have confidence in you. 'I think in the modern game you must be versatile, comfortable playing in different positions. And, having done that in the last couple of years, I definitely think it's a strength of mine.'

Ireland fall to 4-0 loss against India in series opener
Ireland suffered a 4-0 loss to Olympic bronze medalists India in the first of a two-game series at Pembroke this evening. Early attacking pressure from the visitors called the Irish defensive line into action in the opening minutes. India eventually managed to break the deadlock through Mandeep Singh, latching onto a pullback from the baseline to find the net on the back post. They added a second shortly after, with Harmanpreet Singh tucking away a penalty corner to double their lead before the end of the first quarter. Ireland grew into the game in the second quarter, applying pressure of the own early on and winning a number of penalty corners for their effort following some smart attacking play from Fergus Gibson and Adam McAllister. Luke Madeley's first effort forced a good save, with the second penalty corner resulting in a mis-trap. Despite the pressure, India did eventually add a third to their tally, Dilpreet Singh latching onto a loose ball to fire home on his reverse. Ireland almost pulled one back in the third quarter, Jermey Duncan coming close but his flick from a tight angle glanced off the crossbar, before the Indians made it 4-0 at the end of the quarter. The sides meet again in Pembroke tomorrow for the second and final game of the India Series before both depart for the Netherlands for the next stage of the FIH Pro League.
