The World Whiskies Awards (WWA) are among the world's most prestigious whisky competitions. Below is a brief background and tasting notes on the top Blended Scotch Whiskies from the 2025 WWA. Although the list includes some legacy distillers, there are also some lesser-known producers, some of which represent exceptional value.
The Borders Distillery was the winner in the NAS category. It is the first Scotch whisky distillery in the Scottish Borders since 1837, focusing on malt and grain whiskies. Their products often emphasize local heritage and innovative craftsmanship. This whisky is not yet available in the US but is expected to be released sometime in 2025. It is currently available from UK internet-based vendors.
The whisky showcases a balanced mix of grain and malt whiskies, offering flavors of fig jam, butterscotch, and raisins along with orange zest and ripe apples. The finish is sweet, slightly floral, with lingering fruit notes.
Ardray, a new blended whisky from Suntory, was a Gold Medalist in the NAS category. Blended by Suntory's Japanese team, the whisky is 'a Scottish expression based on Japanese blending principles.'
It features subtle notes of peat smoke and vanilla around a core of orchard and stone fruit, described as a 'lightly-peated Hibiki with just a bit more punch.'
Woven, a Leith, Scotland-based whisky blender that uses innovative finishing techniques to create unusual aroma and taste profiles, was the other Gold Medalist in the NAS category. Its Homemade Blended Scotch Whisky was crafted from two Speyside single malt whiskies that were finished in Palo Cortado and Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks.
The blend is roughly 72% malt whisky and 28% grain whisky. The unusually high proportion of malt whisky makes Homemade more of a blended malt than a blended whisky. Woven is not yet available in the US but is available from UK internet vendors.

Scottish Leader, produced by Burn Stewart Distillers, was the highest rated whisky in the 12 Years & Under category. The whisky is known for its exceptional smoothness and balanced flavor profile. At an average retail price of $17, it's also one of the best values for a blended Scotch whisky and is a perennial medalist in whisky competitions.
The whisky offers a smooth profile with hints of cooked cereal/malt, toffee sweetness, honey, candied citrus zest and light peat smoke. The finish is relatively short but satisfying with a lingering spiciness and oak notes.
Dewar's, one of the most recognized Scotch whisky brands globally, was a Gold Medalist in the 12 Years & Under category. It was founded in 1846 by John Dewar and has been crafting blended Scotch for over a century. It is among the best-selling blended Scotch whiskies in the US and another perennial medalist in whisky competitions.
Dewar's 12 YO, also known as 'The Ancestor,' is double-aged for extra smoothness, featuring a complex array of honey, fruit, and floral heather notes, with a subtle oak background. It finishes long and creamy with a hint of almond.
White Heather, a lesser-known blended Scotch whisky, won the 13 to 20 Years category. The whisky is a carefully crafted blend with a high proportion of malt whiskies, matured and blended by GlenAllachie distillers. It features malt whiskies from Speyside, Islay, and the Highlands that have been matured in American and Spanish Oak casks.
The whisky is elegant and balanced, presenting layers of fruit compote, vanilla, and caramel, intertwined with mild smoky notes. A subtle maritime saltiness enriches the palate, and the finish is long and fruity with lingering spice notes.
The Dewar's Double Double series is known for its unique four-step aging process, which includes a final stage in Sherry casks, enhancing complexity and smoothness.
The whisky is rich and luxurious, with deep notes of ripe fruits, sweet honey, and dark chocolate, enhanced by a hint of spice. The palate is velvety, leading to a beautifully long, sherried finish.
These Scotch whiskies were all Gold Medalists at the 2025 World Whiskies Awards. Some like Dewar's are among the world's best-known blended Scotch whiskies, legacy brands that have been sold worldwide for over a century and are readily available.
Others like Woven or The Borders are new craft distillery startups, testing the boundaries of blended Scotch whisky's aroma and taste profile. The established, though little-known brands like Scottish Leader and White Heather are even more intriguing. They represent exceptional quality and value and are relatively easy to find.
Either way, if you like Blended Scotch whisky, there are a few new brands to discover and a few more to reacquaint yourself with among this list of the World's Best Blended Scotch Whisky. Cecilie Bahnsen's 'Hana-Bi' Collection Is a Poetic Retrospective

Summary AtCopenhagen Fashion Week,Cecilie Bahnsenmarked a decade of her eponymous label with a poignant runway presentation: 'Hana-bi' — the Japanese word for 'fireworks.' Set against the industrial sprawl of Refshaleøen in Copenhagen, the show reflected the brand's trademark tension between fragility and strength. A wash of luminous white opened the collection before transitioning into silver, a signature palette shift symbolizing evolution and renewal. Drawing on ten years of design, Bahnsen laid bare her archive, crafting a tactile dialogue between past and present. Broderie anglaise fronts met quilted silk backs, airy skirts revealed sequin briefs and familiar silhouettes appeared inverted or reassembled — each a sculptural ode to couture-level craftsmanship and quiet emotional power. Fabric served as the narrative thread, with textiles such as Myrtia organza, Fiama fil-coupé and quilted taffeta from previous collections reimagined in new configurations. Most looks were conceived instinctively by hand, guided more by intuition than seasonality. Even footwear was embedded in this language of transformation: whiteASICSsneakers – marking the brand's long-standing collaboration – were reworked with embroidery, foil and deconstructed linings. The presentation unfolded like a physical poem, set to a haunting score by August Rosenbaum and Beth Gibbons, with models drifting through mist and light in painterly motion. More than a retrospective, 'Hana-bi' was a love letter to Copenhagen and a gesture of gratitude to those who have been part of the brand's evolution. Select guests wore archive pieces, becoming part of the show's living image, blurring the line between audience and runway. The collection is available for purchase directly from the runway or by private appointment at Bahnsen's newly opened Copenhagen boutique. Listen Up! This Cool Girl Brand Just Dropped The Next It Bag

When Chopova Lowena released its Margaret bag, complete with a pocket for a jar of Hellman's mayonnaise, the shoulder style fast became a viral sensation. How ever would Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena-Irons follow an item that was not only filled with the kind of kooky irreverence that helps the news of an item travel far and wide, but was actually desirable to wear too? The answer: with just as much noise. Today, and exclusively here with ELLE UK, it's revealed that the London-based design duo have collaborated with SONY to create a carry-everywhere bag that also houses the Japanese behemoth's WH-1000XM6 headphones. The bag and the headphones are available together exclusively at Dover Street Market. Named the Alto, the crossbody style has been inspired by vintage travel case interiors and carries all the markers of a signature Chopova Lowena piece. There's the tartan fabric, characterful hardware, and fastenings that are as much of a design detail as they are functional. Let's not forget that this is the brand that made carabiners a veritable fashion piece. 'We were in touch with SONY and they told us about the launch of the WH-1000XM6s headphones. It was the perfect opportunity to work on a bag again since listening to music is so big in our world,' the designers told ELLE UK. 'We always want our headphones right by our side… or under our arm!' Music has long been an important part of not only the designers' process but also world-building too. 'It's one of our most important inspirations and the right song can immediately transport us into the world of a collection. We have one song for every season to get us to the right mood and feeling,' they added. It's Chopova who leads on the playlist making primarily with Lowena-Irons adding her favourites too. Together, they fill their South London studio with music from the likes of 'Warpaint, Cocorosie, Fever Ray. Those are our core.' On the Friday night of London Fashion Week this coming September, Chopova Lowena will unveil its SS26 collection with much anticipation. The duo choose to put on a show just once a year, which makes the September occasion all the more exciting. Hints from what we might see from Chopova Lowena could be lifted from the types of artists they've been listening to ahead of the show. They tell us that they (like very many of us) have 'been obsessing over the entire Addison Rae album,' but other artists included on this seasonal playlist paint a broader picture. 'We've also been listening to Sierra Ferrell, Biig Piig, Anohni, Sufjan Stevens, Tami T, Hapi, Wet Leg, Bright Eyes, You Say Party! We Say Die!, System Of A Down, Cherry Cola, Nia Archives, Saya Gray…. the list goes on and on. But a song that we listened to over and over again and to us is the song for the season is the The Mirror Dance by Helen Island.' What's for certain is that when Chopova Lowena call upon the usual musical stars that race to their front row, they'll be swinging the Alto with just enough time to clip their headphones in place before the show soundtrack takes over.
