Gardai hunt youths who set up elaborate hoax in cruel roadside stunt
The incident, which happened in the village of Milford on Sunday night last, left a terrified motorist thinking they had hit a real person.
The shocking incident occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday on the R245 at The Pans, Cranford at around 12:30am.
The motorist jumped out of their car and made a shocking discovery.
After getting out of the car the driver found the body shaped object was dressed in dark clothing that had been stuffed with bags and covered in ketchup.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle were left shaken following the bizarre incident.
Damage was also caused to the car as a result of the collision.

A Garda spokesperson said 'We are following a definite line of enquiry in relation to this incident and we are anxious to speak with anyone who may have travelled in that area and who may have observed a white car with three young males on board parked up nearby.
'This car is believed to have been in the area around the time of the collision and then immediately left in the direction of Carrigart'.
Anyone who may have travelled along that route with a dash-cam between midnight and 1am on that date is urged to make the footage available to Gardaí.
'If anyone travelled within the Carrigart area between 12.30am and 1.30am with a dash-cam, we ask them to get in touch with us also,' Garda Doherty added.
'We are very anxious to progress this investigation and we appeal to the males in question to make contact with Gardaí in Milford on 074 9153060. As already stated, we are following a definite line of enquiry and all available CCTV is being sought and examined. Those involved in this very serious matter are advised to make contact with investigating Gardaí."

A man who broke a safety order by sending a woman videos of a Bruce Springsteen concert has had his conviction removed on Christopher Callan said that he was sure Springsteen 'would not be too happy' to see his music being used in this way and that the man's actions were not in line with the singer's message as a performing artist. She also presented a victim impact statement to the judge which was not read aloud in counsel for the man, Seosaimhín Ní Chathasaigh BL, said that her client cooperated fully with the gardai and did not dispute the said that he has sincere remorse for the hurt caused by his actions and this is not a pattern of behaviour which will continue in the Ní Chathasaigh confirmed to the judge that the safety order has already been extended to last until 2030 with consent from her said that her client is not seeking to avoid accountability but having a conviction would have life-altering effects in regards to his employment or possible future Callan said the victim impact statement was very clear about the extent of the fear that the injured party said that the videos were 'intending to give a certain message' to the injured party, which was explained in her victim impact statement. Judge Callan decided to overturn the man's criminal conviction on the condition that he pays a donation of 1,000 euro to Women's Aid, noting that the safety order remains in place until 2030. Man extradited to Ireland from US under Interpol warrant arrested by Gardaí
A man who was extradited from the US on foot of an Interpol warrant was arrested by Gardaí on Monday. Officers attached to the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau arrested the man, aged in his 40s, on foot of an extradition warrant under Operation Skein (Jackal) this morning, July 28. The man was extradited from the United States of America with the assistance of Interpol and US authorities and is currently being detained at a Garda Station in Dublin. He is expected to appear before Dublin Circuit Court, Court 5 later this morning. Interpol's Operation Jackal is referred to as Operation Skein in Ireland. Operation Skein is co-ordinated by the Garda Economic Crime Bureau and investigates international criminal organisations that commit fraud worldwide and launder the proceeds through networks of bank accounts in Ireland.
