Multi-million pound eco-lodges development near one of Anglesey's best known beaches up for sale

A development of eco-lodges near one of Anglesey's best known beaches has been put on the market. The site for the planned lodges is at Red Wharf Bay on the east coast of the island.
Planning has been approved for nine units on the land but it is understood development has not started. The development has now been placed up for sale for £3.1m.
It is on with Advantage Real Estate who described it as an "exceptional lifestyle purchase".
The agent said: "A rare opportunity to acquire a premium collection of eco-conscious holiday lodges in one of Anglesey's most sought-after coastal locations. Nestled within the stunning landscape of Red Wharf Bay, this exclusive development offers a unique combination of luxury, sustainability, and exceptional leisure living." They said each lodge is designed with a hot tub and sauna as well as private terraces and outdoor kitchens.
The agent added: "Constructed using sustainable, environmentally friendly materials, the lodges provide superior thermal insulation and soundproofing to ensure comfort in all seasons.
"This development responds to strong market demand for high-quality coastal accommodation and offers an attractive investment proposition as well as an exceptional lifestyle purchase."
Anglesey council said that outline planning permission was granted in 2013 for for the siting of nine holiday chalets together with the installation of a sewage treatment plant.
The council added: "An application then followed for Reserved Matters was approved in 2015. A further application for Reserved Matters followed in 2019 and this was approved under application. Also, two applications to discharge the conditions were approved in 2019.
"In the absence of an application for a Lawful Development Certificate, the Local Planning Authority is not aware if the planning has been lawfully implemented and as such there is no 'fallback position'. A new application submitted in 2023 was refused last year."

The applicants had explained in their submission: 'We completed the purchase of Cae Owen including the caravan park in March 2020, the weekend before the Covid lockdown. 'We didn't receive our completion documentation until many months following. 'Upon receipt, there was some information that was incomplete, or not present. 'That resulted in us having to formalise elements such as consents, not finalised by the previous owner prior to selling the property. 'This application is to formalise the caravan to the north of the park. 'It was highlighted by Mrs Joanne Roberts, in response to a previous separate application, that the caravan to the north of the dwelling did not have consent, but it was evident that it has been there since at least 2000. 'This was something we were not aware of at the date of purchasing the property. 'This application is therefore to obtain this consent and ensure compliance going forwards. 'The caravan has been used for holiday letting by ourselves since 2020, and by the previous owners since the mid 1990s.' The applicants had included a raft of evidence showing samples from the previous owner's diaries indicating booking details from 2014 and 2015 along with their own booking system download from 2020 to date. The application had also included a number of GIS aerial photos, visitor reviews, and a formal statutory declaration made by the previous owner that confirmed that the caravan was used between 1994 until 2000 as a holiday rental. The council decision was that it was considered 'lawful' and the decision was handed down on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

The businesses maintain strong community ties by using local suppliers and providing employment to the local community." They added: "Over the last 20 years, significant investment has been made to upgrade and expand the Parks, which includes modernising caravan and lodge stock, site infrastructure and enhancing leisure amenities." One commenter, Confusing says: "The way things are being run nowadays it probably not a good time to invest any money. Even if you make a profit they'll probably want to grab it. Well they've got an easy world paid jobs so probably not too bothered. And they're planning to get more of their mates into the same job so they can make a few quid too." PedroD believes: "If you have tourist averse policies from the WA and Councils, then tourist businesses are likely to fold and the jobs in them evaporate. Soon it won't be just 'the valleys' that will need reduced council tax to avoid poverty." HoorahHenry1 writes: "Seen it coming... but the Assembly are blind to reality." US-based fashion accessories and jewellery business Claire's has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in a court in Delaware, according to new filings. It is the second time the group has declared bankruptcy, after first filing for the process in 2018 after it was unable to repay a loan. The group saw its finances improve after wiping around 1.9 billion dollars (£1.4 billion) off its balance sheet in a refinancing but has come under pressure from recent weak consumer demand and supply chain uncertainty. Claire's runs 2,750 stores across 17 countries. It has around 280 stores in the UK. The new bankruptcy filings showed that the business reported liabilities and assets of between 1 billion dollars and 10 billion dollars. It also showed that the company owed more than 25,000 creditors.
