'Reservoir Dogs' And 'Kill Bill' Star Michael Madsen Dies At 66
Michael Madsen, whose menacing characters in "Reservoir Dogs" and "Kill Bill" made him a standout in Quentin Tarantino's films, has died. He was 66.
Madsen was found unresponsive in his home in Malibu, California, on Thursday morning and pronounced dead, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Watch Commander Christopher Jauregui said. He is believed to have died of natural causes and authorities do not suspect any foul play was involved. Madsen's manager Ron Smith said cardiac arrest was the apparent cause.
Madsen's career spanned more than 300 credits stretching back to the early 1980s, many in low budget films. But his most memorable screen moment may have been the sadistic torture of a captured police officer - while dancing to Stealers Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle with You" - as Mr. Blonde in 1992's "Reservoir Dogs."
He would become a Tarantino regular, appearing in the "Kill Bill" films and "The Hateful Eight."
"In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming feature films 'Resurrection Road,' 'Concessions and 'Cookbook for Southern Housewives,' and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life," his managers Smith and Susan Ferris and publicist Liz Rodriguez said in a statement. They added that he "was one of Hollywood's most iconic actors, who will be missed by many."

A family dispute over a Rs. 5 lakh loan turned violent in Bengaluru's Viveknagar when a man tried to set a house ablaze while people were still inside. The act of him opening the gate of the house and pouring petrol before setting a fire was caught on a CCTV camera. According to media reports, the accused was identified as Subramani and is a relative of the family whose house he attempted to set on fire. Furthermore, the incident is from July 1, 2025. Bengaluru Family Dispute As per a report by NDTV, the house in question belongs to Venkataramani and her son Satish. The dispute began nearly eight years ago when Parvati, a relative of the homeowners, borrowed Rs. 5 lakh from Venkataramani for her daughter's wedding. However, since Parvati failed to repay the loan, Venkataramani brought up the matter during a recent family gathering. This reportedly escalated into heated arguments and threats. Man Sets Fire The man, Subramani, entered the house compound, poured petrol near the door, lit a match, and threw it before walking away from the scene. The neighbours helped put out the fire, and later, reportedly, an FIR was also registered. The NDTV report further stated that while Satish was at his work, he received a call from his mother who told him about the fire. Although there were no injuries in the incident, the fire caused damage to the house. Family Dispute Over Money In a separate incident in March 2025, a man (22) was arrested for allegedly setting his house on fire. The incident, as per media reports, is of Avalahalli, Bengaluru, and the accused was in a dispute with his father over money. The 22-year-old man poured petrol and set his house ablaze during the early hours of the night, and the people inside escaped from the house just in time. The accused was then arrested after the police investigation revealed that he was responsible for setting the fire.

5-Hour Crime Scene Reconstruction At Kolkata College With 'Mango' Mishra
The four men, including the prime accused, arrested for the rape of a law student was taken to South Calcutta Law College for a reconstruction of the crime scene on Friday, as the city police intensified its probe into the case that has sparked an uproar across the state. A team of senior policemen took alumnus and contractual staff Monojit Mishra, current students Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed and security guard Pinaki Banerjee to the institute at Kasba area at around 4.30am to reconstruct the events that led to the rape of the 24-year-old student in the evening of June 25. "The reconstruction of the crime scene is a vital part of the investigation. We completed the task today. The four accused persons were taken to the South Calcutta Law College early this morning, and the task is done," a police officer told news agency PTI. The entire reconstruction process, carried out in the presence of a huge police team, lasted for nearly five hours, following which the four were taken back to the police station, the officer added. "Our findings will now be cross-checked with the allegation of the woman and verified with other evidence," the officer said. The woman was allegedly raped by Mishra, who was assisted by Mukherjee and Ahmed, in a room used by the security guard. The medical examination, as well as, the circumstantial evidence corroborated the first-year student's allegation of being gang-raped. Speaking to NDTV, the survivor said all students " feared" Mishra, who earlier had links with the ruling Trinamool Congress, on the campus. "There was an atmosphere of intimidation on the campus. He used to click photos of female students, morph them and circulate them on WhatsApp groups. He also sexually harassed them. There was so much intimidation that students were scared to attend classes," she said. Police said Mishra has 11 cases against him, many of them related to harassment and misbehaviour against women. He was out on bail on these cases. Mishra's father Robin told NDTV that his son was a good student. "That's why he became an advocate," he told NDTV. "This is a subjudice matter. No citizen who believes in the Constitution must comment on this," he said when asked to comment on the case. The college has c ancelled the appointment of Mishra, who was serving as a casual employee on a previous recommendation of its governing body, in the wake of his arrest. College records indicate that Mishra was previously a student of the institute and was admitted in 2013. That year, he was rusticated from the institution after being charged with stabbing a youth on Chetla Bridge under the jurisdiction of Kalighat police station. On Monday, the court extended the police custody of Mishra and the two students till July 8. The security guard will be in police custody till Friday.

Ferrari joyride ends in ₹1.42 cr tax blow after Bengaluru RTO crackdown
In a major action against tax evasion, Bengaluru's Regional Transport Office (RTO) forced the owner of a red Ferrari SF90 Stradale to pay over ₹1.41 crore in pending road tax and penalties. The car had been driving through the city for months without paying road tax in Karnataka, NDTV reported. The Ferrari, with a starting price of ₹7.5 crore, was registered in Maharashtra and had become a familiar sight in Bengaluru. On Thursday morning, officials from the Bengaluru South RTO spotted the Ferrari near Lalbagh. Suspecting a tax violation, they stopped the car and checked its documents. 'In Maharashtra, tax on such cars is a flat ₹20 lakh, but in Karnataka, it amounts to nearly ₹1.5 crore. The vehicle was registered in Maharashtra two years ago. Around 8.30 am on Thursday, the driver was cruising near Lalbagh. When we stopped the car and asked for documents, he said they were at home. Later, we verified the registration,' an official said, as quoted by The Times of India. Owner given a deadline, pays up in full After checking records, the RTO found that the car had been used in Bengaluru for more than 18 months without paying local road tax. The vehicle was seized, and a formal notice was issued to the owner. The notice also warned of legal action if the dues were not cleared by the evening. Responding quickly, the owner paid a total of ₹1,41,59,041, which included both the tax and penalties. One of the biggest recoveries in recent times Officials said this was one of the highest single-vehicle tax recoveries in recent years. The transport department added that it will continue to take strict action against luxury vehicles being driven without paying state road tax, NDTV reported. Earlier in February, the department had seized 30 high-end cars, including Ferraris, Porsches, BMWs, Audis, Aston Martins and Range Rovers, during a large-scale crackdown on tax evasion. The operation involved over 40 RTO officers.
