Shaquille O'Neal opened up about his remarkable body transformation, claiming to have achieved a six-pack for the first time in almost thirty years.
The NBA icon is currently starring in the new Netflix documentary series 'Power Moves with Shaquille O'Neal'. This new series follows his journey, alongside fellow Hall of Famer Allen Iverson, to revive Reebok's basketball division.

The president of basketball at Reebok and a new ESPN analyst, O'Neal is no stranger to turning fortunes around. After retiring from basketball in 2011, he found himself weighing over 23 stone (322lbs) a decade later, prompting him to embark on a fitness journey.

O'Neal noted that a series of personal tragedies in 2020, including the loss of his sister Ayesha Harrison-Jex and former Los Angeles Lakers team-mate Kobe Bryant, led him to seek comfort in food.
"My sister passed away before Kobe," he told Men's Journal. "And then Kobe passed away and then I had 28 other people pass away.
"[2020] was a really bad year and I didn't want to do anything. So, when you don't want to do anything, but you need to stay out of trouble, there's two things you can do: eat and Netflix."

This difficult period marked a turning point for O'Neal, who has since worked hard to transform his physique and achieve his impressive six-pack. In 2021, Shaq managed to leave behind his habit of indulging in late-night snacks, adopting healthier eating habits and a consistent exercise regime instead.

The impetus for this life-changing shift came unexpectedly via social media. "I saw this 70-year-old guy on there, and he had muscles everywhere. So I just decided to switch it up," O'Neal added.

The basketball icon soon began to see impressive results and shared insights into the diet contributing to his transformed body. "I've been doing this for six months and just eating fruit, protein shakes, salads, fish, chicken and asparagus or other vegetables," O'Neal said.
"Very small portions and eating that everyday has helped me lose 25-30 pounds. I started to see stuff that I haven't seen in 20 to 30 years-like a six pack. And I haven't had one of those since I was on the 2006 Miami Heat.

"Now I've been more active, I sleep through the night. I have more energy and I just want to work out all the time."
Considering O'Neal's sustained state of peak fitness, it is somewhat surprising to learn about his more relaxed routine. According to the man himself, although he exercises twice daily, he caps his workouts at just an hour each day.
"I do 20 minutes of cardio, I'll do some chest, bis, tris, sit-ups, back and then I'm gone, he said. " he added. "30-45 minutes a day, plus cardio, so about an hour a day. I still got the bad hips and the achy joints, so I can't be jumping and running around. Next thing I'll try is jogging."

Despite being 53 years old and juggling family commitments, business endeavours and his career as a basketball analyst, O'Neal appears to have maintained this routine. His Netflix show, 'Power Moves with Shaquille O'Neal', started streaming earlier this month.

Revealed: How NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo made his movie debut in an Australian film as a teenager

Before he became an NBA champion and global superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo made an unexpected appearance on the big screen in an Australian movie. At just 16 years old, the Milwaukee Bucks fan favourite and his mother, Veronica, featured briefly in the 2012 drama Dead Europe, directed by Australian Tony Krawitz and adapted from Aussie author Christos Tsiolkas' novel. It was produced by Australian companies, funded in part by Screen Australia, and premiered at the Sydney Film Festival in 2012. When the surprising role was revealed on social media, shocked fans could not believe that such a big piece of Giannis's history had been kept secret from them for so long. 'How did we never hear about this before?' asked one fan. 'New Giannis lore just dropped,' added another. In 2011, then unknown 16-year-old Giannis Antetokounmpo and his mom make their acting debuts in Australian drama 'Dead Europe' — MrBuckBuck (@MrBuckBuckNBA) August 14, 2025 A young Giannis Antetokounmpo appears in the 2012 Australian film Dead Europe at just 16 years old along with his mother Veronica (pictured together) 'Such an obscure piece of Giannis lore, amazing with everything out there about his upbringing I've never seen this mentioned once,' another posted. Filmed partly in Athens, where the Antetokounmpo family was living at the time, the cameo came at a point when they were undocumented immigrants struggling to make ends meet. Casting agents were looking for authenticity, and Giannis and his mother were chosen to play a refugee family in a short but memorable scene. Giannis was credited as 'Neighbour's Son,' appearing under the spelling 'Giannis Adeto Kunbo' on IMDb, while Veronica was also listed for her role. His involvement in the film amounted to just two lines: 'Quiet, please, it's late' and 'She is dead, gone.' For the Antetokounmpos, the job provided a small source of income during a period when Giannis and his brother Thanasis were also selling items on the streets of Athens to support their family. The film itself, Dead Europe, was dark, confronting and challenging, described by reviewers as both disturbing and intelligent. However, it carried a 63 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and polarised critics, with some praising its depth and others calling it bleak. For Giannis, however, the role was just a passing experience, overshadowed quickly by his rise as a professional basketball player. Within a year of the film's release, he declared for the NBA Draft, where he was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2013 as the 15th overall pick. As his career took off, the cameo remained an obscure piece of trivia, only rediscovered years later when fans unearthed clips of the teenage 'Greek Freak'.

NBA icon Dennis Rodman fires brutal shot at Travis Hunter and his controversial relationship with wife Leanna Lenee

Former NBA champion Dennis Rodman took a shot at Jacksonville Jaguars rookie sensation Travis Hunter over the situation with the Heisman Trophy winner's now-wife. Despite many suggesting that Lenee was taking advantage of the fame of the two-way talent, Hunter tied the knot this summer and has been happily married for months. But Rodman doesn't seem to buy it. The 64-year-old appeared on a recent stream of YouTuber N3on. 'A 21-year-old young man, what advice could you give me to evolve as a human being?' the streamer asked. After a pause, Rodman replied, 'Just don't be Travis Hunter,' before bursting into laughter. 'I'm sorry, breaking news, what the hell... I don't give a s**t if it's real or not, s**t, it's fake news.' Over the past year, Lenee has been at the center of a firestorm of hate from online commenters - especially over perceived slights directed at Hunter - during the 2024 college football season. That season ended with Hunter winning the Heisman Trophy, the second ever won by a player from the University of Colorado, and led to him getting picked second-overall by Jacksonville. A few weeks later, Hunter and Lenee would tie the knot in Tennessee at a glamorous wedding following years of dating. But those years of affection and dating were ignored by trolls who lobbed accusations of gold digging and fame hunting toward Lenee throughout 2024. Recently, Lenee showed an insight into how that hatred affected her. In a post to Tik Tok last month, she posted footage of her from back in December - crying fresh out of the shower. The post had the sound of a Church sermon playing behind it while Lenee spoke into the camera. However, nothing that she said was audible. Instead, context for the footage was given in the caption of the video. 'I wish I could go back and hug December me, because oh baby, God was about to change your heart in the most important and beautiful way,' Lenee wrote. 'I don't even recognize this girl anymore. The amount you can grown [sic] and develop in just 6 months of devoting your life to Jesus and getting away from the shackles of the world and social media is truly astounding. Lenee shared video of herself from back in December, showing her crying out of the shower 'I wish the peace I found within Jesus on everyone who reads this. Your identity in him matters, not how people choose to perceive you.' Comments under the video were supportive, including one from WNBA superstar Angel Reese which read, 'so proud of you bb! the storm doesn't last forever!' 2024 was a rocky season for Lenee and Hunter's relationship as the public cast doubts on Lenee's motives for dating the star. This forced Lenee to defend herself in a lengthy eight-minute video posted after Hunter won the Heisman. As Hunter was announced as the winner of the prestigious award, Lenee initially remained sitting while Hunter's mother and Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders stood up. She briefly stood and gave Hunter a hug after Sanders appeared to tap her, but promptly sat back down as Hunter continued embracing his group. Fans took issue with what they believed to be a slight, sparking horrific backlash on social media. It's one of many perceived snubs Lenee had to address. Others included a tense moment after a game against Oklahoma State and some comments she made as Hunter was taking photos with female fans during a pre-Heisman photo shoot . On a Twitch stream after the ceremony, Hunter revealed that Lenee had cried herself to sleep as she continued to be pelted with criticism. 'She's still sleeping, she's slumped,' the Heisman winner shared on a Twitch stream. 'You know when you're hurt but you just cry yourself to sleep and you just be gone? She drunk [sic], like, an OD amount tonight for no reason.' Hunter told people to stop targeting her, specifically calling out 'clickbait' pages, social media accounts, and websites. 'Clickbait pages stop, y'all better stop I'm telling y'all. Something bad is gonna happen to y'all [if you] keep doing that. Y'all better stop that. I ain't playing,' he said. 'Y'all hate on me then you go hate on my girl,' the two-way star continued. 'I feel the same thing that she feels. We're inseparable. We're with each other. If she's hurting, I'm hurting.'

Reports: Heat re-signing G Dru Smith to 3-year contract

August 17 - The Miami Heat are re-signing guard Dru Smith to a three-year contract, according to multiple media reports on Saturday. Smith, 27, dealt with a torn Achilles tendon last season and a torn ACL about a year earlier. His first-year salary is fully guaranteed, with the second and third years having conditional guarantees, the Miami Herald reported. Last season, he averaged 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 steals across 19.1 minutes per game in 14 appearances (one start) before suffering a season-ending injury in December. For his career, Smith averages 4.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.1 steals, and 14.7 minutes in 38 games (two starts) for the Miami Heat (2021-2022, 2023-present) and Brooklyn Nets (2023). His return comes one day after the Heat traded forward Haywood Highsmith and a 2032 second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for a protected 2026 second-round pick. Highsmith was slated to make $5.6 million and the Heat, who want to be below the luxury tax line, are expected to pay Smith no more than half that, per the Herald's report. --Field Level Media
