Athletic Bilbao donate shirts for Non-League Day
A top division Spanish club has donated football shirts to two teams in the South East in celebration of Non-League Day.
Athletic Bilbao, who sit fourth in La Liga, have sent one men's jersey and one women's jersey to Kent side Sheppey United and West Sussex side Steyning Town.
The shirts are to be part of a raffle at their respective fixtures on Non-League Day.
The celebration, who first took place in 2010, encourages fans of Premier League or English Football League teams to attend their local football club.
The day traditionally takes place during the international break, when the top two divisions of English football do not have matches scheduled.
All three sides play in red and white stripes.
Lee Allen, interim co-vice chairman of Sheppey United, said: "We would like to thank Athletic Bilbao for not only finding the time to reach out to us, but also their interest in our club and of course their generous offer.
"Non-League Day is very important as it helps raise our profile and gives us an opportunity to welcome supporters from other sides, like the Premier League."
The funds Sheppey United generate will be donated to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in honour of a local six-year-old girl named Joules, who recently passed away after she was diagnosed with an incurable illness.
Mr Allen added: "Joules had the nation dancing with the Dancing for Joules campaign that had the whole nation filming various dance videos, including celebrities and us."
Steyning Town chairman Paul Hart said: "The fantastic support and link up with Athletic Bilbao for Non-League Day will hopefully really benefit the clubs and encourage people to come to watch a game of football that they may not usually attend.
"We both share the same important identity of wearing red/white stripes as our home shirts and we will auction off the tops for a local charity, which we will be doing on the day of the game.
"Like all non-league clubs, ours is at the heart of the local community and run by dedicated volunteers who give up their time & effort to make sure everything runs smoothly."
In 2023, Athletic Bilbao offered its members free tickets and a bespoke travel package to London to watch a fixture between Dulwich Hamlet and Oxford City.

Brighton make Carlos Soler enquiry amid Villarreal talks
Brighton and Hove Albion retain their interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler (28), however, Villarreal have made more concrete steps to sign the Spaniard, according to Marc Mechenoua. Brighton's interest in Soler is long-standing and the player will be available this summer. West Ham United have opted against making his loan move to the club permanent, whilst there is no place for him at PSG. He, like the other returning loanees, will be shipped out of the Parc des Princes once again this summer. Advertisement A return to the Premier League could potentially be on the cards for the midfielder. Mechenoua understands that Brighton, who have previously shown an interest in the Spain international, have made an enquiry. However, a deal that would see him join Villarreal and return to his native Spain is more advanced. As per L'Équipe, talks with the La Liga side, who next season will play in the UEFA Champions League, are underway. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Thomas Tuchel admits that some can find England star Jude Bellingham ‘a bit repulsive' – including the manager's mother
England soccer star Jude Bellingham has a 'hunger' and 'rage' that can come across as 'a bit repulsive,' manager Thomas Tuchel said in a new interview with British outlet TalkSport. Bellingham, a key player for his national team and Real Madrid, has rarely been afraid to hide his emotions on the pitch. That much was evident in England's 3-1 loss against Senegal on Tuesday as he remonstrated with a fourth official and kicked a cooler box in frustration. But Tuchel, who suffered his first loss as Three Lions boss with the defeat against Senegal, said that the midfielder 'brings an edge which we welcome' – even if some fans see it differently. 'He has the fire and I don't want to dim this down,' Tuchel told the British outlet. 'He should play with this kind of fire. That's his strength. But the fire comes also with some attributes that can intimidate you, maybe even as a teammate. 'You see sometimes the explosion towards referees and the anger in his game. So if he can channel this in the right way and we can help him in this, then for sure he has the something that we need, and he has a certain edge that is hard to find.' Tuchel added: 'I see this with my parents, with my mom, that she sometimes cannot see the nice and well-educated and well-behaved guy that I see. 'If he smiles, he wins everyone. But sometimes you see the rage, you see the hunger and the rage and the fire and it comes out in a way that can be a bit repulsive – for example, for my mother, when she sits in front of the TV. I see that. But in general, we are very happy to have him. He's a special boy.' Still only 21, Bellingham has already made 44 appearances for England, scoring six goals and playing a crucial role in the team's run to the final of last year's European Championships. He won La Liga, Champions League and Spanish Super Cup titles in his first season in Spain with Los Blancos but was more subdued in the last campaign, scoring 14 goals compared to 23 the previous year. Tuchel admitted that he has been undecided about where to play Bellingham in his England team, particularly after seeing his goalscoring form for Real Madrid. 'I see (in him) what I normally see only in strikers,' said Tuchel. 'I think now, at the moment, he's more an eight or 10 than a six or eight. Maybe a 10.' Though only a friendly, England's defeat against Senegal was the team's first ever loss against an African nation. It followed a lackluster 1-0 victory against Andorra on Saturday, but the Three Lions remain top of their World Cup qualifying group with three wins from three.

🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia come knocking for Imanol Alguacil
Imanol Alguacil's future, the former coach of Real Sociedad, seems to be moving further and further away from Spain. Saudi Arabia has burst into the bidding for his services, and Al-Shabab is shaping up to be his next destination after a key meeting in Riyadh. The coach from Orio, who seemed destined to join Sevilla, has received a millionaire offer that makes him rethink his future. Sources close to the Saudi club confirm that Alguacil spent about six hours at Al-Shabab's facilities, known as the 'White Lions', where he not only discussed the attractive economic offer but also the team's ambitious sports plans. Advertisement From Riyadh, local media report that the agreement is closed, although in Sevilla they insist that the Basque coach has not yet made a final decision. Sevilla has lost ground in his signing. Not even the arrival of Antonio Cordón as sports director has accelerated the negotiations, leaving the Andalusian club with almost no options.
