Athletic Bilbao donate shirts for Non-League Day
Athletic Bilbao, who sit fourth in La Liga, have sent one men's jersey and one women's jersey to Kent side Sheppey United and West Sussex side Steyning Town.
The shirts are to be part of a raffle at their respective fixtures on Non-League Day.
The celebration, who first took place in 2010, encourages fans of Premier League or English Football League teams to attend their local football club.
The day traditionally takes place during the international break, when the top two divisions of English football do not have matches scheduled.
All three sides play in red and white stripes.
Lee Allen, interim co-vice chairman of Sheppey United, said: "We would like to thank Athletic Bilbao for not only finding the time to reach out to us, but also their interest in our club and of course their generous offer.
"Non-League Day is very important as it helps raise our profile and gives us an opportunity to welcome supporters from other sides, like the Premier League."
The funds Sheppey United generate will be donated to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in honour of a local six-year-old girl named Joules, who recently passed away after she was diagnosed with an incurable illness.
Mr Allen added: "Joules had the nation dancing with the Dancing for Joules campaign that had the whole nation filming various dance videos, including celebrities and us."
Steyning Town chairman Paul Hart said: "The fantastic support and link up with Athletic Bilbao for Non-League Day will hopefully really benefit the clubs and encourage people to come to watch a game of football that they may not usually attend.
"We both share the same important identity of wearing red/white stripes as our home shirts and we will auction off the tops for a local charity, which we will be doing on the day of the game.
"Like all non-league clubs, ours is at the heart of the local community and run by dedicated volunteers who give up their time & effort to make sure everything runs smoothly."
In 2023, Athletic Bilbao offered its members free tickets and a bespoke travel package to London to watch a fixture between Dulwich Hamlet and Oxford City.

Real Madrid star to miss La Liga season opener through injury
A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has been ruled out of the club's opening fixture of the new season. That's according to Blancos insider Melchor Ruiz of COPE, who points towards Eduardo Camavinga as the player in question. The name of youngster Camavinga of course reemerged as an altogether prominent one in the media headlines in Spain's capital on Sunday. This came after word was forthcoming that the Frenchman had suffered a fresh injury setback. Amid ongoing efforts to recover full fitness following a spell on the sidelines with a muscular issue, Camavinga picked up an ankle problem in training. And as much, as alluded to above, looks set to prove enough to keep the 22-year-old out of contention for Real Madrid's fast-approaching 2025/26 season opener. Xabi Alonso's troops are primed to lock horns with Osasuna in a little over a week's time, but, as per the aforementioned Melchor Ruiz: 'Camavinga's ankle sprain will prevent him from starting the season. He will miss tomorrow's friendly and the first league match.' Conor Laird – GSFN

Barcelona have closed their transfer window
Barcelona have closed their transfer window originally appeared on The Sporting News According to major Spanish outlet Barcelona are closing up shop for this transfer window after the departure of Iñigo Martinez. This news comes despite many fans wanting Barcelona to fill in the hole left behind by Iñigo and a backup fullback. Barcelona believe that they have enough depth even in the centre back position positions as they believe Pau Cubarsi, Ronald Araujo, and Andreas Christensen are all starter level players and Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and Gerard Martin are good enough to play the position. It also comes down to Barcelona once again struggling to meet financial fair play rules and having to focus more on trying to register players before trying to sign any. They do have ways to do it but Barca have to wait if La Liga will approve the sales of VIP seats and if they approve Marc-Andre Ter Stegen's medical report which would free up his wages for registration. This could all be approved and Barcelona would be well within the 1:1 rule but it seems they have learned from the past to wait and see if everything goes right. Barcelona fans may feel underwhelmed by letting a starting centre back go for free as the team is left with Cubarsi, two injury prone centre backs, Kounde and Garcia who haven't been playing centre back, and Gerard Martin who has never played the position at a professional level. It's probably the wrong decision to let go of a centre back when Barca have more talent and depth in a position like midfield where they could afford to let a player go ,but as long as Barcelona register their players, it is still a great team and it should be an exciting season.

RFEF approves Barcelona-Villarreal La Liga soccer match in Miami
Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The Spanish football federation, or RFEF, approved a La Liga request to hold a match between Barcelona and Villarreal in Miami this season, officials announced Monday. The RFEF board of directors deliberated on the matter at a meeting Monday. Villarreal is scheduled to host Barcelona on Matchday 17, Dec. 21, in Villarreal, Spain. "After receiving and checking the documentation received, and after the approval of the board of directors, the Royal Spanish Football Federation will submit to UEFA the request to begin the procedures for the subsequent authorization by FIFA for the match to be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Dec. 20, 2025, in accordance with the FIFA international match regulations and the implementing rules approved by the RFEF," the federation said in a news release. The United States Soccer Federation, UEFA, CONCACAF and FIFA must still sign off on the move. If the game is finalized, it will mark the first time in history that a Spanish first division game would be played overseas. Girona will host Rayo Vallecano in the first La Liga match of the season Friday in Girona. Barcelona will battle Mallorca in another season opener Saturday in Palma on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
