Two-day Southeast Zone states regional workshop on PM Janman being held in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, May 30 (UNI) A two-day Southeast Zone States Regional Workshop on PM Janman, Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), began here on Friday.
Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development D.Anasuya Seethakka inaugurated the workshop which was attended by senior officials from MoTA and the Tribal Welfare Departments of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Telangana states.
In her inaugural address, Seethakka said that the state government is diligently implementing the Scheduled Tribe Sub Plan Development Fund (ST SDF) scheme and is constructing over 22,000 permanent brick houses specifically for the state's tribal people.
She also mentioned that recently, the state government launched the prestigious 'Indira Solar Giri Water Development' scheme, which provides solar-powered pumps to tribal farmers who have received podu land titles, enabling them to irrigate their lands and improving water management facilities.
Since tribal people live in the forest, the Minister appealed to the central government to amend the Forest Department laws so that programmes aimed at their development are not hindered.
Speaking on the occasion, Telangana State Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao stated that Telangana is setting an example for the entire country through the PM Janman and Dharti Abhijan National Village Excellence schemes, and that the state is steadily progressing in this direction.
He stated that the benefits of every scheme implemented by the central and state governments reach every tribal person living in the forests.
MoTA Additional Secretary Manish Thakur, who reviewed the implementation status of schemes in the states, offered several suggestions on how to implement these schemes more effectively.
He praised the schemes being implemented in Telangana.

RCB stampede: Siddaramaiah confirms 11 deaths, announces Rs 10L aid
Bengaluru, June 4 (UNI) At least 11 people lost their lives and 33 were injured in a tragic stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Wednesday, as an overwhelming crowd gathered for Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebrations. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed deep grief over the incident and announced ₹10 lakh compensation for the families of each of the deceased, all of whom were young men and women. "No one anticipated this. Neither the Cricket Association nor the government expected such a huge crowd. The stadium can accommodate only 35,000 people, but over two to three lakh fans turned up," Siddaramaiah told reporters, explaining that the rally had to be organised early this morning following last evening's IPL final. Thousands of jubilant fans had gathered near the gates of the stadium since early morning, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite players and the trophy. The situation spiralled out of control when the surging crowd overwhelmed entry points, triggering a deadly stampede. "Thirty-three people have been injured, with 47 reported to have sustained varying levels of trauma initially. Some were discharged after treatment," the Chief Minister stated, adding that all injured individuals would receive free medical care. Siddaramaiah assured that those undergoing treatment in both government and private hospitals will have their medical expenses fully borne by the state. "I have spoken with doctors to ensure proper treatment for all the injured," he said. The tragedy has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a jubilant public celebration of RCB's maiden IPL title. The Chief Minister has ordered officials to expedite compensation and ensure families of the deceased are supported. UNI BDN SSP

New Delhi, June 4 (UNI) India will kick start its ambitious Aravalli Green Wall Project on World Environment Day on June 5 in a bid to give a new lease of life to one of the oldest mountains of the world ie Aravalli range which is facing rapid degradation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the project by planting a Banyan sapling under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign at Bhagwan Mahavir Vanasthali Park in the national capital, a step to prevent desertification and land degradation caused by global warming. On the occasion, the Prime Minister will also flag off 200 electric buses under Delhi Government's sustainable transport initiative, promoting clean urban mobility and symbolizing the nation's collective responsibility towards ecological balance, said a statement here. Aiming to create a 400 km long and 5 km wide green corridor covering states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Delhi, India had introduced the Aravalli Green Wall project at the 16th Conference of Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Riyadh in 2019. The Union Environment Ministry had released the project's action plan in March. The project envisages boostING biodiversity of the Aravalli Hill Region and is a major initiative to spread green cover in the 5 km buffer area around the Range in 29 districts of the four states, according to the statement. Besides, reforestation and afforestation and rejuvenation of water bodies, the project aims to improve the soil fertility, water availability and climate resilience of the region. The project will also benefit the local communities by providing them with employment and income generation opportunities. In the initial phase, 75 water bodies will be rejuvenated, starting with five waterbodies each in every district of Aravalli landscape, said an official from the Ministry. The plan is inspired by Africa's 'Great Green Wall' project, running from Senegal (West) to Djibouti (East), which came into effect in 2007. Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign encourages people to plant a tree as a symbol of love, respect, and honour for their mothers, while also pledging to protect trees and the Earth. UNI AJ SSP
