Leah Remini addresses rumors of fallout with Jennifer Lopez

Leah Remini is finally setting the record straight about her relationship with longtime friend Jennifer Lopez, following months of speculation that the two stars had a falling out. In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Remini shared insight into where the friendship stands today. 'Right after the divorce, we'd text each other loving messages of support,' Remini said, referring to her 2024 split from husband Angelo Pagán after 21 years of marriage. The timing mirrored Jennifer Lopez's own divorce from Ben Affleck, which was also filed in August 2024. Rumors about a possible rift began circulating when Remini didn't attend Lopez's wedding to Affleck in 2022. However, the King of Queens star dismissed any talk of a feud. 'Sometimes you don't talk to people every day like you used to, but that doesn't mean the love is lost,' she said. 'Friendships ebb and flow. That doesn't mean we're at odds.' Remini, who famously left the Church of Scientology 12 years ago, revealed that her personal transformation has led her to retreat from the spotlight and spend more time at home. 'I cherish my friendships and not everybody is meant to be in your life in the way that they were,' she said. 'I have many friends that I don't talk to every day. That doesn't mean we're at odds — it's just that I'm at a different place and so are they.' Despite the distance, Remini's comments indicate that her bond with Lopez remains intact, though redefined. CNN has reached out to representatives for both stars for additional comment.

Karine Jean-Pierre, former Biden press secretary, leaves Democratic party

Karine Jean-Pierre, former White House press secretary under President Joe Biden, announced on Wednesday June 4 that she has written a book detailing her time in the White House. The memoir, titled Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines, is set for release on October 21, 2025. The book promises to offer an inside look at the turbulent final weeks of Biden's presidency, focusing on what Jean-Pierre describes as a 'broken White House.' It will explore the events leading up to Biden's decision to abandon his bid for a second term and the Democratic Party's role in what she considers his 'betrayal.' According to the publisher, Legacy Lit, Jean-Pierre will delve into her personal journey of leaving the Democratic Party to become an independent, a move she attributed to the country's pressing need for creative, strategic thinking. In a statement, Jean-Pierre explained that once Biden's presidency ended and Donald Trump returned to office, she realised that the nation needed to break free from old political boxes. She urged Americans to 'think creatively and plan strategically' and to be 'clear-eyed and questioning' rather than 'blindly loyal and obedient' to political norms. Jean-Pierre's decision to step away from the Democratic Party comes amid mounting scrutiny over Biden's 2024 re-election bid. Books like CNN's Original Sin and reports from various media outlets have cast a spotlight on concerns regarding Biden's cognitive and physical health. Jean-Pierre, who made history as the first Black and openly gay woman to serve as White House press secretary, previously worked as a senior political adviser and served in the Obama administration. She took over the press secretary role in 2022, succeeding Jen Psaki. Her tenure in the White House was marked by both praise and criticism. Some commended her handling of difficult press briefings, while others took issue with her responses concerning Biden's health. In February 2025, Jean-Pierre spoke at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, where she reflected on the difficulties she faced in the final weeks of Biden's campaign. 'I had never seen a party do that in the way that they did,' she said of the backlash Biden faced from fellow Democrats. 'It was hurtful and sad to see that happening.' Although Jean-Pierre has stated that she does not miss her time as press secretary, she emphasised her commitment to the administration's work, noting, 'I would not have come back into the administration, I don't think, for anybody else [but Biden].' News of her book has stirred mixed reactions from her former colleagues. Jeremy Edwards, a former Biden White House spokesperson, took to X (formerly Twitter), writing only 'lol,' a response that some interpreted as a dismissive reaction to Jean-Pierre's departure and revelations. As the Democratic Party grapples with its direction in the wake of the 2024 election, Jean-Pierre's book is set to offer a candid perspective on a pivotal time in American politics.

Julión Álvarez: Mexican singer cancels concerts after US Visa revoked

Mexican singer Julión Álvarez has postponed a planned concert in Arlington, Texas, after the United States revoked his work visa and those of his band, the performer announced Friday. Álvarez revealed the development in a video posted on his Instagram account, stating that he and his team had been notified by US authorities earlier that day. The concert was scheduled for Saturday at a stadium in Arlington. Álvarez said he did not know the reason for the visa revocation but added that he and event promoter Cárdenas Marketing Network (CMN) hoped to reschedule the performance. 'Mil disculpas a todos ustedes and, if God allows, we'll stay in touch to provide more information,' Álvarez said in Spanish during the video message. In a statement, CMN said approximately 50,000 tickets had been sold for the event and confirmed they would remain valid for the new date. 'Ticket holders will receive further instructions by email in the coming days. Those unable to attend the rescheduled event will be given details on how to request a refund,' the company said. CNN, which first reported the story, contacted the US State Department and Department of Homeland Security for comment. A spokesperson for the State Department said visa records are confidential and declined to comment on the case. In 2017, Álvarez was sanctioned by the US Treasury Department over alleged links to drug trafficking networks, which he denied. He was removed from the sanctions list in 2022. Earlier this year, he performed three consecutive concerts in Los Angeles. The incident comes amid broader scrutiny of US visa policies affecting high-profile performers.
