Rookie lefty Noah Cameron dynamite again as Royals top Reds
May 29 - Noah Cameron continued the stellar start to his major league career, allowing a single run while pitching into the seventh inning as the Kansas City Royals beat the visiting Cincinnati Reds 3-2 on Wednesday night.
Cameron (2-1), who hails from nearby St. Joseph, Mo., yielded only a sixth-inning run on six hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings in his fourth career start. According to MLB, Cameron is just the second pitcher since 1893 to go 6 1/3-plus innings and allow one run or fewer in his first four career starts. The left-hander boasts a 1.05 ERA.
He set the tempo Wednesday for the Royals, who avoided being swept in the three-game set after allowing seven runs in each of the first two contests.
Spencer Steer had three hits and two RBIs, while Tyler Stephenson also recorded three singles for the Reds. Making his second start since missing a little more than two weeks with a right groin strain, Cincinnati's Hunter Greene (4-3) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings.
Kansas City's Maikel Garcia extended his hitting streak to 13 games by lining the ball off Greene's calf in the fourth. Then Drew Waters sent a smash just under the glove of Reds second baseman Matt McLain, and Garcia, running on the pitch, scored from first.
Kansas City made it 2-0 in the fifth. John Rave doubled to right for his first big-league hit and eventually scored on Bobby Witt Jr.'s double down the right field line.
In the sixth, Cameron walked Austin Hays, who exited later with a bruised foot, then yielded back-to-back singles to left field by Stephenson and Steer. The latter brought home the Reds' first run.
Cameron exited with one out and a man on in the seventh. Angel Zerpa then allowed an infield hit to TJ Friedl but got Santiago Espinal to ground into a 5-4-3 double play.
The Royals had runners on second and third with nobody out in the bottom of that frame, but managed only one run via Witt's sacrifice fly.
Cincinnati got within a run in the eighth when Elly De La Cruz doubled then scored on Steer's single.

Man killed after waste container he was sleeping in was emptied into bin lorry
A man has been killed and another was injured in the US after a waste container they were sleeping in was emptied into a bin lorry. The two men had been in the large bin outside a shopping centre on Long Island in New York on Thursday, according to Suffolk County police. Someone spotted a person inside the back of the lorry when the truck stopped outside a school nearly six miles away around 6.30am. The person was removed and taken to hospital to be treated for a leg injury. The other man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death, but they do not believe the man was dead before he ended up in the lorry. Officers did not identify either man, but said they were believed to have both been sleeping in the container at the time. School officials sent a message to parents to reassure them that the emergency response at the school was "completely unrelated" to the school, adding there was no threat to students or staff and classes were operating as normal.

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he would hold a press conference with beleaguered advisor and billionaire Elon Musk to mark his last day as a special advisor to his administration. His efforts founding the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) earned the wrath of Democrats who protested his attempts to cut the federal workforce and cut government spending. Even some Republicans in Washington, DC were nervous about the political impact of some of his actions. Musk appeared discouraged by the reception of DOGE, describing it as 'the whipping boy for everything' in Washington, DC. 'The federal bureaucracy situation is much worse than I realized,' he told The Washington Post in an interview. 'I thought there were problems, but it sure is an uphill battle trying to improve things in D.C., to say the least.' Left-wing protesters burned effigies of Musk and carried signs calling for him to be deported as Tesla vehicles were burned and vandalized. Musk drew attention with his untraditional antics as he appeared in cabinet meetings wearring a 'tech support' T-shirt with a MAGA hat. His appearance at CPAC was marked by him wielding a chainsaw and celebrating that 'I have become meme.' Musk's remark to CBS on Wednesday criticizing the Republican-led 'Big Beautiful Bill' passed by the House of Representatives was widely seen as a veiled shot at Trump, as he prepares to leave Washington. Musk's departure was celebrated by his enemies as the failure of DOGE as he once predicted he could cut $2 trillion in spending, but he conceded that so far only $150 billion of federal spending has been cut.
