Boys' lacrosse Top 10: Familiar favorites lead first rankings of spring
Familiarity remains a constant in the D.C. area lacrosse scene. Year after year, several of the same names lead these boys' lacrosse rankings.
As a new season begins, the local hierarchy remains just how it has always been remembered.
Several private schools have already begun the 2025 season, including top-ranked Bullis. After faltering late in the 2024 season and failing to reach the Interstate Athletic Conference title game, Bullis returns what might be the area's most talented roster and certainly the region's highest-rated recruit in Penn commit Jackson Maher. The senior attackman is rated by Inside Lacrosse as the No. 6 overall player in the class.

5-Star Recruit Immanuel Iheanacho Names His Top 4 Schools
5-Star Recruit Immanuel Iheanacho Names His Top 4 Schools originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Five-star Class of 2026 recruit Immanuel Iheanacho narrowed his list to the top four schools heading into the summer on Friday. Advertisement Iheanacho is an offensive tackle for Georgetown Preparatory School in Baltimore, Maryland, and is considering the Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, Oregon Ducks and Penn State Nittany Lions as his options, according to On3 reporter Keegan Pope. The four schools are the only ones he has officially visited, and he plans to announce his commitment on Aug. 5. Heading into June, Iheanacho indicated that Oregon is his first option. 'Oregon is the top school, but these official visits will play a big part in my final decision,' he told On3 reporter Chad Simmons. 'My relationship with the coaches at Oregon is what has them at the top. I like the staff a lot, and we can talk about anything.' Iheanacho has already visited the Dan Lanning-led Ducks twice and left pleased both times. Advertisement 'My second visit there was great,' he continued. 'I loved my first one, too. My parents also love Oregon, so it helps to get their opinion. The connection with the coaching staff is really the biggest thing for me with Oregon.' The Ducks are well known for their strong offensive line, so adding Iheanacho would be a solid choice. He showcased his superior blocking skills as a 6-foot-6, 345-pound lineman in the Under Armor All-American Game on Jan. 2 in Deland, Florida, and the Polynesian Bowl on Jan. 16 in Honolulu. This season as a junior, he was named a MaxPreps All-American for not allowing a single sack the entire season en route to helping Georgetown Prep win its fifth Interstate Athletic Conference title in six years, per his 247 Sports player profile. He also received first-team all-league honors that season because of his outstanding ability to prevent opposing defenders from sacking the quarterback. Former golf phenom Lucy Li graduates from Ivy League school with 4.0 while playing on LPGA
Remember when 11-year-old Lucy Li captivated crowds at Pinehurst more than a decade ago with her ruffled skirts and ice cream? The big-brained phenom is all grown up now and playing her third full season on the LPGA. While Rose Zhang's academic schedule gets a lot of ink, Li's college career didn't get as much attention, but the end results are extraordinary. Li, 22, recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. Li now boasts an LPGA card and a degree in data analytics and psychological sciences from an Ivy League institution. Li started her professional golf career around the same time she started taking online courses at Penn. Advertisement "While COVID set me back a few years in my golf career, it also gave me the time and space I needed to really dig into my pursuit of higher education," Li posted on Instagram. "It's a reminder to me that not all bad is bad, and that life will endlessly take you down funny paths and winding roads until you reach where it intended you to be. "Before anyone asks me why I did any of this to myself while already having a full time job as a pro golfer let me answer: I'm a huge nerd. I've always been driven by curiosity, love of learning, and self-improvement, both on and off the course. It's been an honor and privilege to continue that journey at Penn. I am now armed with a lot of useful information, better leadership and communication skills, but more importantly a lot of really interesting but mostly useless facts about a lot of different things." Lucy Li of the United States plays her shot from the second tee during the first round of The Chevron Championship 2025 at The Club at Carlton Woods on April 24, 2025 in The Woodlands, Texas. Li, who turned professional at age 17, counts Johnny Miller as a mentor and was pen pals with the late great Mickey Wright. Currently No. 78 in the world, Li has yet to contend this season and wasn't in the field at the 80th U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills. She is playing this week at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, still searching for her first LPGA victory.
