SP launches drone-based surveillance system
Speaking at a training session on drone operations at the District Police Conference Hall, the SP emphasised using advanced technology for effective law enforcement. He instructed officers to monitor public places using drones to deter anti-social activities.
The Shakti teams will actively patrol colleges, parks, malls, bus stands and other crowded areas to prevent harassment. SP Jagadeesh flagged off 28 two-wheelers to aid these teams in responding quickly to incidents.
He highlighted the importance of the ‚Shakti App', which connects users to emergency contacts like Dial 100, 112, 181, 1098, and 1930. Key features include: One-touch SOS alerts, Shake or hand gesture emergency trigger, Live location, 10-second audio/video sharing with control room, Options to file complaints and report illegal activities

The SP urged the public to download the Shakti App and use the WhatsApp helpline (7993485111) for immediate help. He also directed officials to promote app awareness among women.

Bokaro: The body of a businessman, identified as Sudeep Kapisve, was recovered from a flat in Krishna Apartment on the IMS Road in Giridih on Sunday, police said. Digital arrest, cyber fraud: UP STF nabs two gang members from Maharashtra
Continuing its crackdown on cyber criminals, the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two members of a notorious gang involved in digital arrest and cyber fraud. The accused, identified as Muhammad Iqbal Balasahib (47) and Shain Iqbal Balasahib (42), were arrested from a flat in a residential building on Mira Road, in Maharashtra's Thane district on Sunday and were brought to Lucknow for investigation, officials said. (For representation) Describing the gang's modus operandi, a senior STF official said the duo impersonated police and narcotics officers, using WhatsApp calls and video conferencing to deceive victims. They would allege that the victim's name was linked to illegal activities and demand money to settle the matter. In one such case, they defrauded a Lucknow resident, Dr BN Singh, of ₹95 lakh. An FIR was lodged at the local cyber crime police station in April. According to a press note shared with the media, the STF's cyber team, led by additional superintendent of police (ASP) Vishal Vikram Singh, tracked down the accused after analysing technical evidence and receiving tips from informants. The release stated that the team raided the suspects' flat in Mira Road and seized two laptops, three mobile phones, seven pen drives, three hard disks, six ATM cards, two Aadhaar cards, two computer mice, and a laptop charger, along with ₹450. Officials said the STF is now examining the seized electronic devices and probing the accused's bank accounts and digital wallets. Efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the gang. The accused have been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act. They are currently in custody, having been brought to Lucknow on transit remand.

Family of three ends life over health issues in Erode district
A family of three from Nanjaiuthukuli Panchayat in Erode district reportedly died by suicide late Saturday evening, allegedly due to prolonged health issues. The deceased, who were residing in Chennapanaickenpalayam, were identified as N. Nagendran (49), a jewellery artisan, his wife Sakeela Devi (42), and their daughter Dhanyalakshmi (20). According to the police, Dhanyalakshmi had developmental disabilities, while both Nagendran and Sakeela Devi were undergoing treatment for thyroid-related ailments. Prior to committing suicide, Nagendran had purportedly written a letter explaining the reasons for the decision. A video message was also recorded and shared with relatives through WhatsApp. Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, a relative who saw the video rushed to the house and found all the three dead. The police were immediately informed. A handwritten note recovered from the house said their decision was solely due to health issues. The note also mentioned that ₹25,000 in cash was set aside at home to cover funeral expenses. The bodies were sent to Erode Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. The Modakkurichi police have registered a case and are investigating.
