Prince Harry responds to claims he had bloody brawl with Prince Andrew over Meghan Markle remarks

Prince Harry has firmly denied ever rolling up his sleeves to confront his uncle, Prince Andrew, over alleged comments about his wife, Meghan Markle. The Duke of Sussex, 40, was said to have left the disgraced Duke of York with a 'bloody nose' following a 'heated argument' more than a decade ago, according to an excerpt of Andrew Lownie's new book, 'Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York,' obtained by the Daily Mail. Lownie, who wrote the book about Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, claimed that Harry lost his cool after his uncle uttered a comment about the 'Suits' alum, 43, 'behind Harry's back.' 4 Prince Harry has firmly denied ever rolling up his sleeves to confront his uncle, Prince Andrew, over alleged comments about his wife, Meghan Markle. Getty Images The royal author alleged that Andrew had called the former actress an 'opportunist.' 'I can confirm neither of those things are true,' the Invictus Games founder's rep told Us Weekly of the alleged altercation. 'Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make those comments about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry.' The excerpt further alleged that 'punches were thrown' and that Andrew — who has recently won his yearslong fight to stay at the Royal Lodge — emerged from the fight with a bloody nose. 4 The disgraced Duke of York was said to have been left with a 'bloody nose' following a 'heated argument' with Harry more than a decade ago. It's no secret that the Sussex camp has been embroiled in a yearslong feud with the Windsor clan since quitting royal life in 2020 and moving across the pond. The pair, who wed in 2018, have been totally estranged from the royal family for more than half a decade as they continue to live in Montecito, Calif., while raising son Archie, 6, and daughter Lilibet, 4. 4 The royal author alleged that Andrew had called the 'Suits' alum an 'opportunist.' 'Harry has shifted into a new way of thinking. The tone is now all about 'deconflicting' with his family,' a source recently told the Daily Mail. 'That's why his household agreed to draw up a 'grid' of his activities and share them with Buckingham Palace, and by extension with Kensington Palace.' What's more, the offer has reportedly also been extended to the Prince and Princess of Wales, who have not spoken to the Sussexes in years. 4 The Sussexes tied the knot in 2018 — just two years before quitting royal life and moving to the US. Still, it's said that Charles is 'cautious and wary' of his estranged son's overdue attempt at gluing the family back together.

Prince Harry Calls in Lawyers Over Prince Andrew-Meghan Fight Story

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have sent legal letters to the Daily Mail over allegations of a fist fight with Prince Andrew and derogatory comments about Meghan, Newsweek can reveal. Andrew Lownie's new book, Entitled, paints a scathing portrait of Andrew as sex-obsessed, boorish and privileged. However, it is Harry and Meghan's legal team, not the Duke of York's, who have been mobilized to respond to the allegations. Max Mumby/Indigo/Getty Images And that's because of passages suggesting Harry and Andrew had a fist fight in 2013 and others stating the latter was dismissive of Meghan. Extracts from the book were serialized in the Daily Mail on Saturday, prompting a strongly worded denial by Harry's team that evening. Now though, Harry's team has told Newsweek they have called in lawyers: "Such are the gross inaccuracies, damaging and defamatory remarks made in the Daily Mail's story, I can confirm a legal letter from Prince Harry's counsel has been sent to the Mail." Saturday's statement, also sent to Newsweek, read: "I can confirm Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have never had a physical fight, nor did Prince Andrew ever make the comments he is alleged to have made about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry." Harry and Meghan filed repeated lawsuits between 2019 and 2022, but have not filed a single case since. In the meantime, Harry has been slowly winding down the flurry of actions, having won some, lost others and abandoned one. If the legal letter did turn into an actual lawsuit, it would represent a pivot back to a media strategy that Harry was largely thought to have abandoned. What Lownie's Biography Says About Harry and Meghan "At a family gathering in 2013," Lownie wrote, "Harry and Andrew had got into a heated argument, and punches were thrown over something Andrew said behind Harry's back. "According to a source close to both men, Harry told him he was a coward not to say it to his face. "Harry got the better of Andrew by all accounts, leaving him with a bloody nose before the fight was broken up." "Later Andrew told Harry his marriage to Meghan Markle would not last more than a month," the book reads, "and accused his nephew of going 'bonkers' and not doing any due diligence into her past. "He openly accused Meghan of being an opportunist and thought she was too old for Harry, adding that his nephew was making the biggest mistake ever. The source said: 'Harry later told William he hated Andrew.'" Jack Royston is chief royal correspondent for Newsweek, based in London. Prince Harry is 'keen' for kids Archie, Lilibet to have British education: ex-staffer

Prince Harry is keen for his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to follow in his footsteps by receiving a British education, according to a former palace staffer. The Duke of Sussex, 40, has been raising his two youngsters, ages 6 and 4, with his wife, Meghan Markle, in Montecito, Calif., since 2020. However, according to a former royal butler, the 'Spare' author is 'quite keen' for the pair's children to come to the UK for their education in the future. Getty Images 'It's very likely and it's completely possible because if they have their younger education in America, I'm sure their father will be quite keen to have a bit of a British education, but then it depends on how the relationship is with the rest of the family when the time comes,' said Grant Harrold, former personal butler to King Charles. Harrold, who worked for Charles for seven years when he was the Prince of Wales, noted that while a UK enrollment is not set in stone for Archie and Lilibet at this time, much of the decision depends on the Sussexes' relationship with the Windsor clan. Advertisement 'Time will tell, but I'd like to think that they would get a bit of education here because royals normally do some gap year somewhere,' he continued. 'The king famously went to Australia, so it is possible that coming to the UK could be part of that for Archie or Lilibet.' At the moment, it seems unlikely that Harry and the 'Suits' alum, 43, would send their children abroad — especially after the family lost their bid for taxpayer-funded security earlier this year. 5 The Duke of Sussex, 40, has been raising Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, with his wife, Meghan Markle, in Montecito, Calif., since 2020. meghan/Instagram Advertisement Still, the option of boarding school remains — in addition to a potential university education for the young royals later down the line. And with recent so-called peace talks taking place between reps from both camps last month, it could well mean that a royal reconciliation could take place eventually, laying the groundwork for the option of British schooling. As for Prince William and Princess Catherine's children, it's no secret that the future king and queen have chosen to educate their three children within the British school system. 5 At the moment, it seems unlikely that Harry and the 'Suits' alum, 43, would send their children abroad. @meghan/Instagram Advertisement Currently, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are all enrolled at Lambrook School in Berkshire, England, which sits nearby their Adelaide Cottage home. However, it's been reported that George, 12, will be moving to the $82,000-per-year Eton College in September to continue his higher education. Prior to committing to Eton, the young royal had toured two other schools in North London, including Highgate School. 5 While a UK enrollment is not set in stone for Archie and Lilibet at this time, much of the decision depends on the Sussexes' relationship with the Windsor clan, the ex-butler notes. Alexi Lubomirski / Duke and Duchess of Sussex Despite the report, Kensington Palace has yet to formally announce the future of George, Charlotte and Louis' education. As for Charlotte, the 10-year-old is rumored to be following in her mother's footsteps by eyeing up Marlborough College in Wiltshire, England. The Princess of Wales, 43, studied at the school before meeting William at St Andrews University years later. Follow The Post's royal family live blog for the latest pics, news, exclusive details and more Advertisement Elsewhere, Harrold notes that the Waleses may opt to avoid the university route for their children altogether — and instead have the trio explore alternative options. 'I don't think it would be these days. We may find that George, Charlotte, and Louis might not all go to university. They may go straight to somewhere like Sandhurst,' the former palace staffer suggested. 5 It's no secret that Prince William and Princess Catherine have chosen to educate their three children within the British school system. Getty Images 'In particular, George, it is seen as vital for future kings to have had some sort of military training, so you can guarantee that George, whether he likes it or not, will have to go through that military training.' Advertisement 'Both William and Charles had military training. You're the commanding chief of the Armed Forces, so you've got to know the profession. However, there might not be so much pressure when it comes to George,' Harrold added. The Post has reached out to reps for the Sussexes and Kensington Palace for comment.
