Where Do Chloe's Love Triangle Relationships Stand After The Reunion?
Stan's original reality dating show Love Triangle just had a very messy reunion. We had tears, plot twists we didn't see coming, and relationships that imploded entirely. At the centre of all the drama was Chloe Hannigan, who was in somewhat of a love square throughout the season. Chloe's relationship with Beck Schmitz was going well when her second match, Emma Pazarkoski, walked through their front door and caught both of the women's eyes.
This is reality TV, however, so a fourth suitor entered the chat: Bernie Moredio. After the Love Triangle contestant poured out his feelings for Chloe in a two-page letter, the pair wound up sharing a kiss at a dinner party. When it came to decision time for Chloe, her initial match, Beck, bowed out of the running altogether — leaving only Emma for Chloe to decide whether or not to continue a relationship with. Or so Emma thought.
All hell broke loose when Chloe and Bernie's secret relationship was unveiled during the reunion, including the part where she told Bernie she'd like to pursue a relationship with him outside the show. At the reunion, Chloe promptly branded herself as 'such an idiot', because Bernie had broken things off with her the night before.
So, where do these four Love Triangle contestants stand now, and is there any hope for Chloe and Emma in the future?
Does Chloe still speak to Bernie?
Chloe tells Refinery29 Australia she was 'very broken' while filming the show, and declares she's no longer on speaking terms with Bernie. Good for her, because like host Chrishell Stause said, he was following the 'playbook of f**kboys'.
'Bernie and I have not spoken at all since the next morning [after the reunion],' Chloe says. 'I was quite worried about him. He had a really big night, and a lot was shown… so I checked in with him the next morning, and he just respectfully asked for space, and I have not heard a peep from him since.' While she seems to be in a better place, she has no regrets about exploring her connection with Bernie. 'I think I made the right choice at the end of the day,' she muses. 'I followed my heart, and I think if I didn't choose Bernie, I would always have the 'what if' in the back of my mind. And so I feel very content that I've explored that, and he is most certainly not the man or person for me.'
She admits his actions were 'really upsetting and confusing', and made her feel like 'complete and utter sh*t', but everything happens for a reason. Her hope now is to focus on her future relationship, and she's not looking for a Bernie 2.0. 'I'm going to be with someone who is probably 10 times better than Bernie ever could have been to me,' she declares. 'I'm just feeling very optimistic and looking forward to what's to come.'
Chloe holds one big regret when it comes to how he handled the whole Bernie-Emma-Beck situation, and that's not telling the ladies about his letter. Due to production schedules, she wasn't able to have a conversation with Emma and Beck about it on camera, and producers discouraged Chloe from having an off-camera phone call. 'That was a real struggle for me morally. I had to sit with that, and it felt wrong. I felt like I went against, I was going against my values and you know, the honesty that I preach so much and the communication,' she recalls.
'I did not have the opportunity to have that conversation in a way that was private, that was respectful, and so yeah, it's awful, and it is my biggest regret of the whole show. If I could do my time again, I would have told them as soon as he passed me the letter.'
Does Chloe still speak to Emma and Beck now Love Triangle has wrapped up?
Surprisingly, Chloe says she is still friends with Beck after the reunion. While she was 'shocked' by the way Beck stormed out — she expected a reaction from Emma, but not from Beck — the pair have cleared the air. 'I have spoken to Beck about it since, and she opened up to me, and she said the reaction was more so towards Bernie, because Beck and Bernie were also quite close friends, and none of that was shown through the season,' she explains. 'I think, if anything, she almost felt a bit betrayed by Bernie as well, because they were close and they had been messaging between the end of filming and the reunion.'
Beck and Chloe have decided to 'remain friends on the outside', and even attended the same finale event on Sunday. While there is no chance of romance, Chloe spills that her friendships with Beck, Ariana Djoric and Peyton Ellicott are 'the best things that have come out of the show'. When it comes to Emma, it's a different story. While Chloe tried to repair their friendship, it appears that Emma doesn't want anything to do with her ex. 'Emma and I have not been in touch. I did try to reach out to her, like a month or so after filming, just to sort of, you know, give her that space, but then also touch base and see how she was,' Chloe says.
'Unfortunately, she didn't respond to me, but I do know that she is in a very happy, healthy relationship. She seems to have found her match. So I couldn't be happier for Emma, honestly. And it's a shame that we lost touch, but you know, that's just how life is sometimes.' It's nice to see Chloe find all the positives out of her bumpy Love Triangle ride. While she didn't come out with a long-lasting relationship, she gave us the bi-representation we so desperately needed on Aussie reality TV, and seemed to have come out reasonably unscathed. They can learn to talk, sing, make sounds like the ocean... A parrot's talents seem endless. However, they're also very high-maintenance, and not everyone can have one. Good news, though: apparently cats can talk now, too! At least, one can. On Wednesday, June 4th, one cat fully got caught saying "mama" on camera. It was clear as day and makes everyone question whether cats have actually been able to talk this whole darn time: I can't believe @chloemragland24 has a talking cat. You have no idea how jealous I am... None of my pets talk, and I have 4 birds!This is the only video of this Maine Coon on her mom's account, but that's okay: it's the best one. She has a Pit Bull sibling, too, but they don't talk. They hog all of their mom's attention, but at least they can't talk! This kitty can, and she let everyone know all about it! Chloe is also a mom to three kids, so she's referred to as "mama" often, and the word is constantly being used. Some have speculated that this might be the reason the cat was able to "say" it, and others claim their cats do the same thing! Cats cannot technically learn and mimic words like parrots can, as badly as we'd like them to be able to. They can learn when the best time to vocalize is, and their different vocalizations can sound like words, but that's not what they're meant to be. Most commonly, people claim their cats can say words like, "I love you," "mama," and "hello." It certainly sounds like they might be, and if they time it right, it really feels like they're responding to you. A win is a win! Who cares about technicalities? It sounds like this kitty definitely said mama, and you know what? Maybe she did. ‘The Better Sister' review: Estranged sisters reunite after a husband is murdered. Cue the intrigue.
Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks star in the eight-episode Amazon series 'The Better Sister,' about a wealthy woman and the estranged sister who comes barreling back into her world when her husband is murdered and her teenage stepson is charged with the crime. Twenty-five years ago, this adaptation of Alafair Burke's novel would have been an Ashley Judd movie with a tight, hour-45 running time: Part thriller and part mystery, as a woman comes to terms with the lies behind her upscale life. That kind of thing can be fun, if not especially deep, which is why streaming's tendency to expand stories over multiple episodes undercuts the propulsion needed to keep everything frothy and moving with enough economy that you're less likely to question whether any of it makes sense. Biel plays Chloe, the impeccable, girl-bossified editor of a magazine who seemingly has it all. It's a very thin characterization, but it does convey her supposed flawlessness. She's married to Adam (Corey Stoll), a corporate lawyer, and is stepmother to Adam's withdrawn teenage son Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan), but there's a secret: Chloe is also Ethan's aunt. Adam's previous wife was Chloe's older sister, Nicky (Banks), whose marriage to Adam fell apart — and her parental rights were severed — when she was found face-down in the pool one day, zonked out on pills and booze, and her toddler son nearly drowned. But that's too sordid a story for Chloe's public image, so she's portrayed herself simply as the stepmom who stepped up. She and Adam travel in high-end circles, befitting their income and ambitions. Their New York apartment has a wraparound terrace. There's also a house in the Hamptons, and that's where Chloe finds Adam dead in a pool of blood. What the hell happened? Suddenly, Nicky, who Chloe has erased from her life, is back in the picture and causing havoc as the police investigate the murder and zero in on Ethan, who had tensions with his father. That's one plot line. The more central (and interesting) narrative is the complicated relationship between Chloe and Nicky. Like Meghann Fahy in 'Sirens,' Banks is playing a very actressy version of messy and down market, chewing the scenery as a working class addict who is crassness personified next to her sister, who oozes perfection, right down to her razor-sharp bobbed haircut. Kudos to Biel for bucking the trend of long, beachy waves; breaking from that homogeneity is refreshing to see on screen. Biel looks amazing in that bob and it also speaks to who Chloe is, a woman putting intense effort to an idealized exterior meant to mask a more unpleasant upbringing. Chloe's ruse works for the most part. Even her ultra-fit physique telegraphs competence and control; it doesn't matter that everything is falling apart behind closed doors because people rarely look past the surface. I'm focusing on the visuals because they're doing more than Biel's performance, which is serviceable if not especially gripping. Adapted by Olivia Milch (daughter of David Milch) and Regina Corrado (whose credits include David Milch's 'Deadwood'), the series keeps you on your toes in terms of the whodunit, while plying you with the kind of aspirational lifestyle content that is so prevalent on television right now. No one is trustworthy. Is Chloe being played? By whom? By everyone? It's hard to care because she's presented as such a vacuous picture of faux feminist perfection at the outset. Chloe's patron saint is a glamorously formidable, well-connected power player embodied by a terrific and entertainingly slippery Lorraine Toussaint, who treats the role like an exercise in capturing something akin to 'Dynasty'-era Joan Collins. I love everything about the performance. Is she Chloe's friend or her worst nightmare? Then there's Adam's cravat-wearing boss, played by an equally slippery Matthew Modine. The cops keep turning up (an itchy Kim Dickens and the more watchful Bobby Naderi) and casting aspersions. And what are we to make of Ethan's attorney (Gloria Reuben), who seems like she's on the up and up, but is also close with a colleague of Adam's (Gabriel Sloyer), and maybe that's suspicious. The dynamic between the sisters may be predictable, but it works. When Chloe gets an iced organic matcha, Nicky gives her a look like, 'Are you for real?' Their bickering, at turns tense and mildly funny, is where the show is at its best, when Biel and Banks aren't being asked to play types, but to connect on a more fundamental level.
