India's Sai Sudharsan solidifies his defensive technique ahead of Test series against England

London [UK], June 10 (ANI): Tamil Nadu's young top-order batter B Sai Sudharsan is one of the Indian players who has found himself in the spotlight as the countdown begins for the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, set to kick off on June 20 at Headingley. The focus tends to shift towards Sudharsan naturally, considering he is among the forerunners to feature in the number three spot for India. The 23-year-old who stands in contention for earning his maiden Test cap for India will have to bear the responsibility on his shoulders of filling a spot that Cheteshwar Pujara held. Pujara offered stability at number three, making the spot his own while raising the bar with his robust performances. The baton was eventually passed down to the newly crowned Test captain, Shubman Gill. While India is yet to confirm officially, the rumour mill has suggested Gill is expected to occupy the number four spot, which was up for grabs after batting maestro Virat Kohli retired from the format last month. Sudharsan, known for his defensive craft, has put his skills on display in the last two days of India's training sessions in Beckenham while facing India's fast-bowling quartet of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh, according to Espncricinfo. During the sessions, the young southpaw wasn't fluent throughout, as thick and faint outside edges flew towards the slip and gully region. India head coach Gautam Gambhir stood a couple of yards behind, observing Sudharsan's technique while maintaining his trademark arms-folded-across-the-chest stance. During their shared conversations, Gambhir appeared to be offering some insights about his technique. Sudharsan was also spotted chatting with skipper Gill, possibly about the forward defensive technique. Despite Rohit, Virat's absence, Anderson puts

London [UK], June 10 (ANI): England's decorated quick James Anderson sees India as a 'strong' side in the upcoming five-match Test series, scheduled to begin on June 20 at Headingley, despite the absence of their batting bigwigs and the phase of transition that has kicked in as a result. More than a month before India's high-stakes Test series against England, swashbuckler Rohit Sharma bid adieu to the format. His long-time compatriot Virat Kohli followed the same route a couple of days later. With India bereft of its torchbearers, the management turned to youngsters to mark the beginning of a new era. In the aftermath of their decision, the captaincy baton was passed from Rohit to Shubman Gill, while the batting combination is something that India is silently figuring out. Even though India are lining up without their two batting maestros, who exude immense experience on English soil, Anderson feels the touring party is in possession of some 'exciting players' and a 'strong' squad for the 'exciting series'. For the ageless seamer, the first edition of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy will be a closely fought contest just like the enticing series in 2022, which ended 2-2. 'I think this series is going to be exactly the same. What you would expect, I know India are going through a little bit of a change with a different captain and losing Kohli and Sharma. But I think they are strong. They have got a strong squad. They have got some really exciting players. England are trying to play a certain way, and I think it lends itself into an exciting series,' Anderson said as quoted from ESPNcricinfo. During his illustrious career that spanned over 21 years, Anderson scythed more wickets against India than any other Test nation. He tallied 149 wickets at 25.47 in 39 appearances and played a valuable part in England's famous win in Mumbai in 2005-06. Anderson also featured for the Three Lions during their back-to-back series wins at home and away in 2011 and 2012-13. Despite his prowess, he has also been a part of five series defeats against India, with four of them being away from home. 'After the Ashes, it is the series that England look forward to the most. I had some tough times in India. It is really a hard place to go. But we won there, which was a really special moment. Some of the battles we had in England were great. They have had some amazing players,' he added. India's Test squad for England series: Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav. Churros, cool breeze and warm sun: Arshdeep Singh happy to be back in 2nd home Kent

Arshdeep Singh was happy to be back at his second home, Kent, as India get ready for the series against England, starting from June 20. Arshdeep got the call up to the Indian Test team for the first time for the five-match series, and many expect him to make his debut during the tour. The left-arm pacer spent some time in Kent playing in the county championship to improve his skills with the red-ball. Arshdeep was now back to his second home. In a video released by the BCCI, Arshdeep talked about Kent and how he enjoyed the peaceful nature of the place and enjoying some hot chocolate and Churros during his time in the county. At first, you get that 'homely' feeling, that yes, I've spent two months here before, so it feels great. I'm really looking forward to creating many more memories here. It's a small place, very peaceful. Not many people around. If you need peace of mind, this is the best place—because there's always a cool breeze blowing, a soft warmth from the sun, and when you sip hot chocolate in that setting, it's pure bliss. And if you have a sweet tooth, make sure to have some churros with it," said Arshdeep. Speaking about the preparations for the Test series, Arshdeep said his motivation was to get a rhythm with the red-ball after being part of limited overs cricket for a long time. "As for today's training session, my only motivation was to get a feel for the rhythm—how the body feels, how the red ball is coming out of the hand—because all the players have been playing with the white ball for quite a while. So I really enjoyed it.""Going forward, as we keep progressing step by step, the intensity will keep increasing, and we'll keep making it more and more difficult for the batters to face the ball. It was fun bowling to the batters. They looked quite compact, and there was a competitive spirit—even though we were just working on rhythm, they were fully competing. So that made it even more fun. We had to grind properly and try to get them out with a solid plan. Sai has joined the team for the first time, and he looked very compact too. The skipper looked in good touch. I'll try my best to keep improving and get them out more often going ahead," said Arshdeep. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Team India (@indiancricketteam)'When your attack includes Bumrah, comparison doesn't exist'advertisementArshdeep also commented on working with Jasprit Bumrah and said that comparison goes out of the window when the star pacer is part of the attack. The left-arm pacer said that the aim is to work together and help improve each other's skills. "Whenever I hold the ball, I always feel that I am the best. But everyone knows—when you're in an attack that includes a player named Jasprit Bumrah, then the word "comparison" doesn't even exist.""So, the focus is on how we can improve each other's game, each other's skill sets—and how we can help the team. That's where my focus lies," said Arshdeep. Must Watch
