INSIDE MAIL – WAGGA
ME ME (12) has finished second twice in four career starts. One of them was behind a subsequent Highway winner in Urafiki. The other was first-up at Kembla on April 15 where he was passed late after a willing duel over the last furlong. Go well here. SUPER NIC (4) is a Gary Colvin-trained local with a favourable alley, Blaike McDougall, and trialled rather well. KURRAJONG (2) did some good things in his first preparation. The jumpouts of SMART ASSET (3) have been good.

SPARKLENGLITTER (6) was bought online for $2,500 in May last year. The Pat Murphy-trained mare has won $34,700 in two starts, both easy wins. In fact, she won her Maiden by a three-quarters of a length then went to the Class 1 and won by four-and-a-half lengths in fast time. XSPIRITOUS (7) has a compelling set of numbers; not least that she has a win and a third from her four runs at this track and trip. Should be the main challenger to this favourite.
PAPARAZZO (5) is a Craig Weeding-trained three-year-old by Holler who was runner-up to Black Caviar's daughter, Persian Caviar, on debut. Ran second again after that, spelled, and resumed a popular win at Benalla on April 14. Tyler Schiller, good draw and easy to like. SHERIDAN STREET (12) is a Doug Gorrel-trained filly who drew 12 of 12 on debut at Gundagai of all places but was still able to lead all the way, beating the subsequent winner Isaguru. Horrible draw again but has Molly Bourke on.
JATO (3) was bought for $25,000 as a weanling by Neville Begg. He is by Starcraft out of a Zabeel mare so he has been waiting all his life to get to a mile and gets there at the perfect time given he is third-up off a very classy win in a 1400m Class 1 at Albury on April 24. DUPLI KATE's (2) barnstorming win (and wow, what a ride) here in the Guineas Prelude took her record to four wins and three thirds from 11 starts. TACT (7) is a lightly raced last start winner. Another one wanting a mile.
Bet: JATO to win, exacta 3 to beat 2
BON HOLLER (9) has two wins and a fourth from his three starts. That fourth was to Spicy Lu who ran in the Champagne Stakes soon after. As for Bon Holler's next, and last start, he was a big winner here over 1300m with a substantial weight. Drawn well and gets B-Mac. (Blaike McDougall). PROPHET'S DAUGHTER (2) has run some good races in some good quality races and without luck from time to time. LOVE ON DISPLAY (16) was fantastic at her first NSW run.
SO YOU PENCE (15) was '2, 1' first prep, long spell, then '2, 1' this prep, winning the last one by panels. Should also point out that she was a neck second on debut (November 2022) to the future Wagga Town Plate winner, The Prodigal Son. KEIKOKU (5) is purpose-built for a fast run 1200m at Wagga. Famous for being slow early but fast late as he was in the Wagga Town Plate Prelude last start.

MEDATSU (10) is a Chris Waller-trained gelding who has been competitive to varying degrees when tried in some good races; examples one and two being his sixth in of the Rosehill Cup and the recent fifth to stablemate Matsulem in the Albury Cup. Kerrin McEvoy is two rides for one win on Medatsu. HELLUVA SOIREE (16) is two from two at Wagga, sure in easier grade than this, but she is a mare in rare form. Way overs at $61/16.
LOVE ON DISPLAY (22) may have already run, if so, all roads lead to SALUTE AGAIN (1) who has some rock solid Highway form. On top of that, she was fourth in the 2024 SDRA Qualifier at Albury; the one where the Final winner, Asgarda, was runner-up. Third-up here, gets 3kg off. PRINCE PAPA (12) has only won three from 27 but he is two starts for a win and a third at Wagga and better still, is one for one at the track and distance. CASHBURN (11) and JAZZ ALL KNIGHT (15) have claims.

Matt Dale will weigh up Stradbroke Handicap tilt with Front Page after Moreton Cup win
It would be uncharted territory but trainer Matt Dale indicated 'the discussion will be had' about giving evergreen sprint warrior Front Page a crack at next Saturday's Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap. Rising nine-year-old Front Page has never won over 1400m – and indeed only raced over that trip once before – but on Saturday at Eagle Farm won the Group 2 Moreton Cup over 1200m which gives him a golden ticket into the Stradbroke (1400m). Gollan is sweating on a ratings bump for Transatlantic and the attrition rate in the upcoming Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) to qualify for Queensland's premier race at Eagle Farm next Saturday. The potential bonus to Gollan's epic Doomben Cup (2000m) victory with Antino two weeks ago came after the four-year-old gelding Transatlantic won a nailbiter in the Spear Chief Handicap at Eagle Farm on Saturday. Transatlantic had a 99 rating and was No.35 in the Stradbroke ballot order heading into the Spear Chief (1500m). 'He'll definitely be running (in the Stradbroke) if he gets in it,' Gollan said about the seven-day backup. 'It's now up to the handicapper to determine what they want to do with his rating. 'I've always had the Stradbroke in the back of my mind, this was a low percentage play to try to get him into the race. But I wanted to see him back winning. 'We'll see how it plays out with the attrition rate, but if everything marries up we'll be back here next week (for the Stradbroke). 'I've always thought he was a Stradbroke horse for some time.' 'Ryan put him into a good position, and we made a subtle gear change with the winkers going on, which had him focused a touch better. 'He's a really nice horse, you saw how well he paraded today. He looks fantastic and he's still on the way up. 'That will have brought him on nicely. If we don't get into the Stradbroke then you might see him in the Wayne Wilson Mile instead.' In the earlier Queensland Day Stakes, $23 roughie Cosmic Fire won the Listed 1200m race ahead of Gerringong ($4) and topweight Coleman ($9) for trainer Billy Healey. 'He's just so honest and he continues to put up a fight every time we send him around,' Healey said 'He's had not much luck a few times but he's a horse who really put me on the map the last 12 months so I owe a lot to him.'

Sunrays ends stellar campaign in Show A Heart as trainer resists Group 1 JJ Atkins lure

Schweida then grabbed a double early in the card, with Cejay Graham piloting $20 chance Vodka Martini to victory in the 1000m Lightning Handicap, ahead of Austmarr ($7) and the Schweida-trained Metalart ($6) Owner Peter Moran may have been tempted to run her in the JJ Atkins (1600m) but he and Schweida will stick to their guns and send Sunrays for a rest. Asked if the supremely gifted filly, who has now won five of her six races, could have been competitive in the JJ Atkins, Berry didn't hesitate in his response: 'If she didn't run today then yes. 'The aim was to run today and then go to the paddock. But running today, I felt like she was on the way down now. I don't think she was at her best today. 'She was a little bit flat in the way she raced and she didn't travel up that well for me off the bridle so she's got improvement 'At her best, if she'd missed today and had the extra week in between runs, for her to run top three (in the JJ Atkins) wouldn't have been out of her means.' It would have been tough for Sunrays to back-up just seven days later in a long campaign that started in late January and finished with Saturday's mighty effort when the $3.20 favourite beat Jenni Gone Bonkers ($10) and Navy Pilot ($5.50) on a Soft 5 track. 'She'll be going straight for a spell now, so that was a great way to sign off her prep,' Schweida said. 'It was a great win, I don't think I've seen a jockey look more confident than Tommy did. 'He was pretty adamant she would be hard to beat, but she still had to tick the 1500m box and also the Eagle Farm box today. 'She's just so tough and she's done it all off her first prep, which is why we elected not to take her to the Group 1 next week (JJ Atkins). She's done a super job.' 'Cejay had done a really good job on her before I picked up the ride,' he said. 'She gave me some really good insight into what she was like to ride, so that made things much easier for me. 'She's a lovely progressive filly, and I still think the best is yet to come with her. 'If you look at her frame she probably hasn't filled into it yet. She's still a bit narrow but there's nothing wrong with her heart, she had to dig deep today. 'It's very exciting to see what she can do over the spring.' Tracked speed before getting clear and closed stylish to win her May 29 Rosehill trial by over a length on a Heavy 9. COSMIC EAGLE (8) is another two-year-old filly on debut. Raced outside the leader before dashing away to win her Rosehill trial on the same day in slightly quicker time. MEDITERRA (10) also starts her career off a trial win, her one at Kembla on May 12. BOHEMIAN ART (1) was well backed on debut and raced outside the leader when a neck second behind Impressionism who kicked back to beat here on Apr 26. She bled from one nostril when fifth to Monte Veebee at Kembla second-up. Worth another chance. ZO FRILLING (9) followed three placings with a fourth to Faceoff last start. Will appreciate the extra trip. OAKFIELD EARTH (7) also debuted in that race won by Impressionism where she finished a three length sixth. Went to the tricky Quirindi track and finished a half-length fourth. Bet: Bohemian Art to win ARISTOCRAT (11) made steady ground from near last when fourth to Regulated Affair on debut then battled away on the heavy ground when sixth to Agarwood at Randwick. Winkers and tongue tie on and dropping back to provincial grade can help him break through. LORD VETTORI (3) has placed in four of his six start including second placing at his last two. Boxed on gamely behind Faceoff on a Heavy 9 at Goulburn last start. MATETE (4) has been just behind the placegetters in his four runs and won't be far away again. DIVO (2), the grandson of Makybe Diva, has won both trials this preparation. The margin wasn't great in his latest Wyong heat but it was on a Heavy 9. JUST RESPONSE (4) sat three-wide and cruised home to win on the Beaumont on May 7. Led all-the-way to beat Smashing Nova on a heavy track on the Beaumont last Monday. MAGIC FLAMES (7), the half-sister to city winner Magic Pharoah, has shown nice ability with placings in her two Randwick trials. QUEEN'S RHAPSODY (2) kicked off her second preparation with a stylish win from Missie Lee over 1100m at Hawkesbury and will appreciate stepping up to 1200m here and even further in time. Gets in well with a 3kg claim. TRUE AMOR (5) was scratched a couple of time before resuming with a length fourth to Secure at Warwick Farm on May 7. Will take benefit from the run and appreciate the drop back t provincial grade. NINGALOO REEF (1) returned with a big win at Hawkesbury. LOUNERSE (1) will appreciate a drop back in grade on her second last of 11 in the Midway at Randwick on May 24. Prior to that was a narrow winner over this track and distance. AUTUMN DREAM (2) debuted with an upset win over Hurry Miss in a Warwick Farm Super Maiden over 1300m before finishing just behind the placegetters in her next two over 1600m. CALYX ROSE (7) took improvement from her first two runs when she stepped up to 1375m to win at Cowra and followed with an all-the-way win over 1500m here on Feb 1. MISSILE SEEKER (2) missed the start by a couple of lengths before coming through the middle of the field to score by a length from Willie Oppa at Wyong on a Heavy 9. Boxed on for sixth to Piggyback at Warwick Farm last start. AIX EN PROVENCE (3) resumed with a close third to Miss Kim Kar at Canterbury first-up last campaign. Was a close second in a Midway three starts later. Trialling well. CARNEGIE HILL (10) has claims on his last start Hawkesbury win. RUSH ATTACK (1) was freshened after racing keenly and finishing down the track behind Enter The Dragon at Hawkesbury on Apr 9. Just pipped by Pocketing in a Randwick Midway and beaten a length onto seventh behind Inferencia in a Rosehill Midway. SCHOLL DEEP (8) was a three-quarter length third to Fiftyfivechevy on a Good 4 here then relished the heavy track when a smart winner over Better Explain here on May 3. Gets in well with the 3kg claim. OAKFIELD MAMSELLE (5) has a win and a second from three first-up runs. Is two from two over the mile.
