Hero Motosports Team Rally Completes South African Safari Rally 2025 With Strong Results
Hero MotoSports Team Rally, the motorsport team of the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters - Hero MotoCorp, has successfully completed its campaign at the South African Safari Rally 2025 – the third round of the FIM World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) 2025.
After five grueling stages across the Savannah, Nacho Cornejo and Tobias Ebster secured impressive top-10 finishes overall — Nacho placing 6th and Tobias 9th while Botswana's own Ross Branch finished 11th overall in the rally. In the Rally 2 category, Tobias made a strong debut with Hero MotoSports, clinching 2nd place overall. With this performance, Tobias continues to lead the Rally 2 Championship standings.
Today's Stage 5 witnessed Ross Branch bounce back with a spirited ride, finishing 3rd — just around two minutes off the stage winner — while Nacho continued his run of consistency, securing 7th place. Tobias also maintained his momentum, finishing 9th in the stage.
Meanwhile, Ebster won today's stage in Rally 2, securing the team's first-ever stage win in this category. The young Austrian talent is making a strong case for the title with two races remaining this season. His consistent pace and four podium finishes in Rally 2 at this rally reflect his growing confidence and synergy with the team.
Nacho once again proved to be dependable for the team, finishing top-10 in all stages in this rally. After finishing 7th at Dakar and 6th at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge earlier this season, his current form promises exciting results in the remaining rounds.
The ongoing season has been quite a challenging one for Ross Branch. After an unfortunate crash at Dakar and a premature exit at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, he entered the Safari Rally with renewed energy. His Stage 1 win and Stage 3 podium reaffirm his speed and determination. Despite the setback in Stage 2, Ross remains optimistic and is eager to capitalize on the remaining two rounds of the championship — racing as the reigning World Champion.
With 34 points after the 3rd round, Nacho has moved to the 7th position in the World Championship. Ross, on the other hand, has opened his tally with 8 points in the table.
The South African Safari Rally wrapped up today with the fifth and final stage in Sun City, spanning 216 kilometers — including 118 kilometers of timed special. Though short, the stage was anything but easy, demanding razor-sharp focus through a mix of slick hard-packed cotton soil, river crossings, and loose gravel. The terrain breakdown featured 44% 'black turf' typical of local XXL farms, 27% savannah with dense vegetation, 7% rocks, and 16% red earth tracks. A final 33-kilometer liaison brought competitors back to the bivouac, where they were welcomed with celebration.
Making its debut on the W2RC calendar, the South African Safari Rally has quickly earned a reputation as a future classic. The groundbreaking event tested the endurance, adaptability, and technical skill of the world's best rally racers. From fast-flowing savannah trails to rocky outcrops and deceptive black earth, the rally showcased South Africa's raw and rugged beauty while challenging competitors with diverse terrain and shifting weather. As a new addition to the championship, the Safari Rally stands out not only for its stunning landscapes but also for the sheer variety and intensity it brought to the W2RC season.
Up next, Hero MotoSports Team Rally is all set to take on the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal, scheduled to take place from September 22–28, 2025. As the fourth round in the FIM World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) calendar, this event presents a fresh opportunity for the team. Buoyed by the momentum and confidence gained from the South African Safari Rally, the team is more focused than ever to conquer the terrain and leave a lasting mark on the championship. Still, Ross showed great resilience, finishing the marathon stage and securing two more stage podiums. Most importantly, he proved he's back and competitive after his Dakar injury.'

'The last stage is done, and it's an emotional moment for me. It was just 111 km today, and I had a great rhythm until around the 92nd kilometre, when my bike suddenly stopped. A wire was stuck in the rear tyre — I had to stop and cut it out with a side cutter. I also had a small crash and an issue at the checkpoint, but in the end, I'm super happy. We got our first Rally2 stage win for Hero MotoSports today. We made steady progress all week, and I'm proud — not just for myself, but for the entire team. Finishing second overall in Rally2 and keeping our lead in the Rally2 World Championship is a great achievement. A huge thanks to the team for their support and to everyone who came to the track or sent messages — you really kept us going. See you in Portugal in September!'

Vida Z based VX-2 electric scooter teased for the first time
Hero is reportedly working on two new and more affordable versions of its Vida product range. Check Offers Hero MotoCorp, Vida have released the first teaser for their upcoming electric scooter on their social media channels. Images of the new electric scooter were leaked online earlier. The launch of the new electric scooter is slated to happen on July 1. The VX2 is expected to be positioned below the V2 in the portfolio. The scooter that was spotted earlier had a smaller TFT display and the switchgear is shared with the V2. However, there is a physical keyhole that hints towards, the VX2 being a more budget-oriented electric scooter. The V2 is offered in three battery pack options, and the VX2, which was also spotted, also boasted a 'Plus' suffix, hinting towards multiple variants being on offer. The leaked image also revealed that the alloy wheels of the new electric scooter will be shared with the V2. The Vida V2 consists of three variants right now. There is V2 Lite, V2 Plus, and V2 Pro. Emphasis on Affordability Hero MotoCorp is reportedly developing a new electric vehicle platform called ACPD, designed to bring down production costs. While the specifics of the upcoming models are still under wraps, this initiative aims to make electric scooters more competitively priced—potentially aligning them with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models. Currently, Hero manufactures approximately 7,000 electric scooters monthly. With the introduction of the new models based on the ACPD platform, this figure is expected to more than double, reaching up to 15,000 units per month. In FY2025, the company sold 48,673 electric two-wheelers—a significant 175% increase compared to the 17,720 units sold in FY2024. This growth reflects rising consumer interest in the Vida range, which competes against major players like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, Bajaj, TVS, and Ampere. The current Vida V2 lineup is priced between ₹ 74,000 and ₹ 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Hero Vida VX2 Electric Scooter's First Teaser Out Ahead Of Launch
Hero MotoCorp's electric two-wheeler manufacturing arm, Vida, has released the first teaser of its upcoming electric scooter, VX2, on social media. It is worth mentioning that the launch event of the EV is scheduled for July 1. This could be the budget product that the manufacturer has been planning for the Indian market based on the Vida Z. Once launched, it will likely be placed below the V2 scooters already on sale in the country. Before the launch, the Vida VX2 electric scooter was spied without camouflage, revealing a few details of its design. Based on the pictures, the electric scooter has a design very similar to the V2 range. These similarities can be seen in the form of the headlight and the tail lamp. Furthermore, the EV gets a curved body reminiscent of the V2 range. Additionally, it had physical keys to toggle through the options present on the screen. The switchgear present on the EV also seemed to have been borrowed from the V2. This unit also had a keyhole, which hints at its budget-oriented design. Chances are, the Vida VX2 will be offered with multiple battery pack options to cater to various segments of consumers. However, the specifics of the electric scooter are yet to be revealed. Adding to the list of specifications, the electric scooter will likely be based on a new platform designed to spawn affordable vehicles. The price of the upcoming model remains to be revealed. As mentioned earlier, it is expected to be more affordable than the Vida V2 electric scooter, which comes at a starting price of Rs 74,000 (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 1,20,300 (ex-showroom).

Auto Q4FY25 Wrap: Two-wheelers lead PAT surge with TVS Motor, Eicher in front; top 13 counters to buy
The Indian auto sector saw varied results in Q4FY25. Two-wheeler companies performed well. Some vehicle makers did better than others. The Indian auto sector reported a mixed Q4FY25 with two-wheeler majors and select OEMs stealing the spotlight, while several leading tyre and auto ancillary firms reported sharp declines in profitability, revealing a distinctly bifurcated performance across the board. Among the most notable laggards, Tata Motors posted a steep 52% year-on-year (YoY) fall in Q4 net profit while its revenue barely grew by 0.53%. The stock has also dropped 5% in CY25 so far. Similarly, Apollo Tyres and Tube Investments of India struggled with declines in their profit after tax (PAT) at 48% and 42%, respectively, even as they reported modest growth in January-March quarter sales. These underwhelming showings are reflected in their stock performances too, with all three names delivering double-digit negative returns this calendar year. Tyre manufacturers and ancillary firms faced particular headwinds. Balkrishna Industries' PAT fell 24% and Bosch saw a marginal 2% decline, despite decent topline growth. Both stocks were down 16% and 8%, respectively, in CY25 as of Tuesday, June 3, 2025. In contrast, two-wheeler manufacturers delivered a strong show, with TVS Motor leading the pack by clocking an impressive 71% YoY growth in Q4 PAT, supported by a 16% rise in revenue. Its stock has returned nearly 16% in CY25 so far. Eicher Motors' 19% PAT growth and Bajaj Auto's 11% uptick in bottom line were other notable performances. Also performed well. Eicher's stock also delivered over 11% returns on the YTD basis. M&M and Hero MotoCorp too reported positive earnings growth, with M&M registering 14% PAT growth on the back of robust 20% revenue expansion. Hero MotoCorp's profit rose nearly 8%, though its CY25 return stands at just 1%. Auto ancillaries such as UNO Minda and Sundram Fasteners saw their profits dip marginally, despite a healthy 19% revenue growth in the case of UNO the Q4 trend reveals a strong divergence between vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers, and also between two-wheeler firms and other categories like CVs and tyres. This divergence is mirrored in stock price performance for CY25, where only a handful of auto stocks have posted double-digit returns. Among them are TVS Motor with 16% returns, Maruti Suzuki at 12% and Eicher Motors at 11%, being the top three. Commenting on the auto sector's performance, 'Om Ghawalkar, Market Analyst, said that the domestic automobile sector achieved historic growth in FY2024-25, posting a 7.3% rise in domestic sales and a robust 19.2% jump in exports, signaling strong momentum across both local and global markets. Citing SIAM data, Ghawalkar said that the passenger vehicle sales hit a record 4.3 million units, led by utility vehicles comprising 65% of the segment. 'Exports also surged, particularly to Latin America, Africa, and developed economies, reaching 770,000 PV units. The two-wheeler segment saw 9.1% growth domestically, driven by scooters, while exports totaled 4.2 million units, dominating India's overall vehicle exports, he companies announced May automotive sales figures which reflected a mixed trend of dispatches across segments. The passenger vehicle segment's domestic wholesale volume growth moderated although UV (utility vehicle) players reported healthy growth. All other segments, however, saw a recovery on a YoY basis. Kumar Rakesh of BNP Paribas Securities in a note said that the 2W domestic wholesale growth improved and was similar to retail trends. The 2W exports continued to post double-digit growth YoY, helped by expansion in new regions by OEMs. "CV dispatches were flat YoY, but MHCVs saw improvement MoM. Tractors saw healthy growth YoY, largely driven by M&M," he the PV volume market share trends, Rakesh said that M&M gained YoY while Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Hyundai lost. As for the two-wheelers, TVS Motor, Royal Enfield (Eicher Motors) gained domestic volume market share Yo,Y while Bajaj Auto likely lost.
