A North Vancouver school was placed under a hold-and-secure order Wednesday morning while authorities from the Canada Border Services Agency and the RCMP conducted what police described as a 'planned operation.'
In a statement posted to social media, the North Vancouver RCMP said it was assisting the CBSA with the operation in the 900 block of Lynn Valley Road, where the private Vancouver Waldorf School is located.
'There is no risk to public safety and police will remain in the area for the next few hours until the operation concludes,' the statement said.
Cpl. Mansoor Sahak deferred questions about the police presence to the CBSA, which is leading the investigation.
The border agency posted a similar message on social media, saying it was 'conducting a CBSA search warrant' with assistance from local police and the heavily armed emergency response team.
'There is no risk to public safety and police will remain in the area until the operation is complete,' said the statement posted to the agency's X account.
Back in November, police raided a home in the same block of Lynn Valley Road, again placing a nearby school in a partial lockdown, for a drug and weapons investigation.
Investigators said two children were present in the home when officers uncovered a kilogram of heroin, 3.6 kilograms of synthetic cannabis products, 295 grams of a fentanyl analog and 205 grams of methamphetamine, according to a statement at the time.
Three handguns, a rifle and a sawed-off shotgun were also seized, along with several knives, swords, and brass knuckles, police said.

Five adults between the ages of 35 and 48 were taken into custody following the November raid, and police said they would be recommending charges against three of them.
