Maurya Lok Tower slated to reopen in new avatar by mid-Aug: Officials
1 2 Patna: Slated for a mid-Aug inauguration, the work on the redeveloped Maurya Lok Tower in the city with new facilities such as a gym, multiplex, restaurant, gaming zone and banquet hall has reached its final stage, according to the officials of Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL), the executing agency. The target for its completion is set for Aug 15, said the officials on Friday. Currently air conditioning installations are underway in the multiplex, restaurant and gaming zone. Two more floors have been added to the existing G+4 Maurya Tower, being redeveloped with an estimated cost of around Rs 15 crore, to turn it into a smart zone. Spokesperson of PSCL, Priya Saurabh, said the Maurya Lok Tower will have a virtual gaming zone on fifth floor, and a multiplex and restaurant on sixth. "It has two blocks — A is dedicated to a banquet hall and B houses the state-of-the-art gym — equipped with 35 pieces of equipment like treadmills, cycling machines and dumbbells, all sourced from Delhi — and wellness yoga centre. Trained fitness experts will conduct yoga and wellness sessions," she said. Additionally, the gym will provide steam bath and jacuzzi facilities. The 123 feet x 62 feet hall is being constructed on rooftop, offering a unique venue for weddings, parties, and meetings. Contractor Yash Yadav, overseeing the project, highlighted the innovative design of the 9,000sqft hall, featuring separate entry and exit points. "The hall is built on a steel frame, similar to Bapu Sabhagar, ensuring an open space without any pillars. Adjacent to the banquet hall, a lounge and vertical garden are also being developed," he said. Saurabh said except for the gaming zone, all structures are designed using Light Gauge Steel Framing, eliminating the need for concrete and brickwork. "The prefabricated structures are lightweight, so no extra burden would be put on the top of the building. Earlier, the buildings were designed according to seismic zone-4 in Patna. But now the high-rises are constructed according to the seismic zone-5," Saurabh said. The multiplex will feature three screens, each accommodating 40 viewers, while the restaurant, spanning 6,000 square feet, will offer a fine dining and rooftop experience. The restaurant will include a 350-square-foot kitchen and a 1,100-square-foot open area, with seating for 80 guests.
