Diljit opened up about how Priyanka's kindness and the support of a fellow Sikh attendee left him emotional at the star-studded event.
Diljit Dosanjh's debut at the Met Gala 2025 was nothing short of iconic, but it was an unexpected gesture from Priyanka Chopra that made the night even more special for the Punjabi superstar. Speaking to BBC Asian Network, Diljit opened up about how Priyanka's kindness and the support of a fellow Sikh attendee left him emotional at the star-studded event.
'When I went to my table, there was also a Sardar boy there. He helped me a lot because I didn't know anyone. I was alone, and I hadn't been to a wedding or a party in a long time. The table I was at wasn't his, but he still came over and said, 'Paaji, whatever you need—tea, water—I'll get it for you.' Seeing a fellow Sardar there made me even happier. He was serving at the event, but he really helped me a lot. A big, big thank you to him," Diljit shared.
He then recalled how Priyanka Chopra came up to him and offered her support. ''Diljit, I'm sitting right here. If you need anything at all, just call PC, and I'll be there in a flash,' she told me. When your own people are around and they support you, it truly touches your heart. That moment really moved me."
Designed by Prabal Gurung, Diljit's look was a powerful celebration of Punjabi culture. He wore a traditional turban, kurta, and tehmat, accessorised with jewels reminiscent of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh. 'I cried when I thought of my look, that I would wear an outfit with the Punjab flag on my back and Gurmukhi script written on it," he said. 'It wasn't important that I go there; it was important that Punjab goes there, that the turban goes there. That thought alone made me cry."
Confident in his presence, he added, 'I knew it, when I go there, no one will have eyes on anyone else. Even if they show me less, when I go, no one else will be visible."
