Dubai's culinary scene has birthed a new underbelly in recent times, one laden with mystery and novel charm, of secret menus, hidden locations and intimate gatherings that feel more exclusive than even some of your most premium and expensive dining experiences – this is the supper club.
Something about being one of just a handful, inside the sanctum that is someone's home. The romance of a deeply emotional story untold, now finding a way out to the world but only through a very curated set of senses. Given Dubai's crowds of starry-eyed diners, this is a recipe for success. This underground gastronomical culture is new in Dubai and here to stay, because the foodies are loving it.
In this blossoming, simmering world of endless supper club and at-home dining concepts, combining tales and tastes from around the world, a new one has emerged. Robz Chef's Table debuted in Dubai this March, and makes no effort at draped modesty, calling itself Dubai's most exclusive private dining experience.
Brought to you from the mind of Chef Robin Höfer, German native most recently ex-Ossiano where he was nominated for the Gault&Millau UAE's Future Great of the Year 2025, this chef's table is inspired by the personal narrative of his life, starting from Lake Constance, through some of the most top-rated European kitchens and his passion for Asian flavours.
Consider this a stepping stone, an experimental kitchen where the larger dream, the bigger picture of a full-fledged restaurant will eventually come to life.
The table is limited to eight spots only, and is priced at Dhs750 per person including non-alcoholic pairing and Dhs850 with wine pairing. Chef Robin and his partner in this venture, Pearl Yan, welcome you into their cosy home, where they whisk you away with their keen, watchful hospitality and the occasional appearance of the family cats.
The menu itself features 13 courses or impressions , meant to reflect different periods in Chef Robin's culinary journey. It is deeply personal, not just in the inspiration, the service (your cutlery once belonged to his grandmother) and the accompanying narrations, but also in Chef's leaning towards fine dining. you'll find loads of Asian influences woven into the food, but no spoilers here.
Several mentions of Höfer's all-time favourite comfort food and his fond childhood memories from Germany are made. The käse spätzle is essentially an incredibly cheesy mac and cheese, a German staple elevated with generous slices of black truffle, crispy onion, and a delicate salad bouquet and Spezi, a popular German drink which comes to you as a granita served with jelly, black lemon, kumquat, and finger lime.
The whole affair is elevated by the options in the non-alcoholic pairing, with homemade fermented drinks like kombucha, lemonade, and tepache boasting bright and exciting flavours made to complement the courses, perhaps even better than a plain glass of wine.
Robz' Chef's Table indeed feels very, very exclusive – it's inventive, it's creative, it's warm and it's fun, and it stays true to the fine dining ethos that Chef feels so strongly about. Sure, it's indulgent, and probably pricey, but never pretentious and perhaps just the sheer honesty of the story makes it worth that ask.

Palestinian film ‘Thank You for Banking With Us!' to premiere in Spain
The film is a joint German-Palestinian production that delves into themes of female empowerment and familial struggle. Palestinian filmmaker Laila Abbas's first feature film, Thank You For Banking With Us, is set to have its Spanish premiere at Cinemes Babel. 'It's a story about sisters who, having endured their own tragedies and heartbreaks, come together to become stronger,' she said. Thank You for Banking With Us! is a joint German-Palestinian production, written, directed and produced by Abbas through her Ramallah-based company Young Oak Productions. Co-produced by Hanna Atallah of Palestine Cinema Days and Roshanak Behesht Nedjad of Berlin's In Good Company Films, the film is being handled for worldwide sales and distribution by MAD World. MAD Solutions and Lagoonie Film Production, the Cairo and Riyadh-based production entity, have also teamed up to co-produce Thank You for Banking With Us! Thank You for Banking With Us! has received support thus far from the El Gouna Film Festival in 2018 through four $10,000 grants from ART, Cedars Productions, O Three Productions and Metafora respectively. Moreover, it won the In-Development Award from the CineGouna Platform and was supported by the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture as well as the Doha Film Institute's 2023 edition of the Qumra Initiative. With additional funding from German film funds (Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, and the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg), and the Hubert Bals Plus Europe of International Film Festival Rotterdam, Thank You for Banking With Us! stands as a testament to the power of collective artistic vision. Notably, it was also among the winners of the Red Sea Fund's third cycle.

Saudi Film Commission highlights national cinema at SXSW London
As part of its participation the commission will screen a selection of short Saudi films under the Saudi Film Nights initiative. The Saudi Film Commission has participated in the first-ever European edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival, which is taking place in London until June 7, 2025. The event, known for gathering leading professionals across the creative industries, offers a global platform for innovation and collaboration through a wide range of programming, including film and TV screenings, exhibitions, panel discussions, live performances and networking opportunities, according to a report by Saudi Press Agency. As part of its contribution, the Commission will present a curated programme of short Saudi films under the 'Saudi Film Nights' initiative, designed to introduce international audiences to Saudi storytelling and support the global visibility of emerging national talent. In addition, the Commission will host a panel discussion titled 'Empowering the Film Industry in Saudi Arabia: From Vision to Reality.' The session will delve into cinema's role in shaping national identity, preserving heritage, and advancing Saudi content as a powerful cultural tool. Inside the Saudi pavilion, visitors will find an exhibition highlighting the achievements of the Kingdom's burgeoning film industry. Featured works include films that have achieved notable box office success, been selected for international film festivals, or received global accolades—emphasising the sector's rapid growth and increasing international recognition. The Saudi Film Commission will be joined by several other creative bodies within the Kingdom, including the Music Commission, the Culinary Arts Commission, the Fashion Commission, and MOCX, offering a comprehensive display of Saudi Arabia's diverse cultural expressions. ACC hosts "Al-Adiyat... Out of the Frame" exhibition
Ali Al-Mimar: A life devoted to Arabian horses Ali Al-Mimar, a graduate of the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad (1985) and a student of the late artist Faiq Hassan, has spent nearly four decades capturing the essence of the Arabian horse. His focus on this noble creature stems from its deep-rooted symbolism in Arab and Islamic heritage—representing pride, dignity, strength, and speed. Al-Mimar has held several solo exhibitions across the Arab world and participated in numerous artistic festivals. Paintings reflect realism, symbolism, and emotion The exhibition featured around twenty paintings in various sizes, depicting horses in dynamic and serene settings—grazing, running, or interacting in harmony with their environment. Some works leaned toward abstraction, emphasising traits like strength and freedom, such as a horse's head crowned with a soaring falcon or wild horses captured in moments of unrestrained energy. Critical reception and artistic analysis In a post-exhibition discussion, Dr Omar Abdel Aziz praised Al-Mimar's work for blending classical European techniques with the Arab world's most celebrated cultural symbol—the Arabian horse. He emphasised the animal's embodiment of both aesthetic beauty and emotional depth, portraying a duality of motion and stillness. According to Dr Aziz, the artist's compositions allow for varied interpretations, offering viewers multiple layers of meaning. The artist's perspective on his work Al-Mimar shared his creative philosophy, explaining that his artworks strive to go beyond surface beauty. 'My paintings are parts of human stories set in dramatic or still atmospheres,' he said. 'They carry emotions, myth, and magical realism—all orbiting around humanity as the central theme.' He added that the themes of pride, pain, and the metaphor of 'silent neighing' are ever-present in his works, which aim to express freedom and introspection through color and technique. The exhibition affirmed Ali Al-Mimar's status as one of the most significant contemporary artists specialising in the depiction of Arabian horses.
