Time Lapse video proves once again that Ohio State is indeed Wide Receiver U
There are neverending arguments when it comes to college football fans. Some back their comments with nothing but passion and fandom while others just go to the cold hard facts. Ohio State fans have claimed to be "Wide Receiver U" for quite some time, but it's not just fodder, there are actual statistics that can back up the talk.
A recent statistical graphic has made its way to X (formerly Twitter) that proves the statement to be true. An account known as Deeg Sports posted a time-lapse of the top-performing wide receivers in the NFL since 1966, the year the first Super Bowl was played. Thanks to Woody Hayes and his three yards and a cloud of dust mentality, OSU doesn't even show up on the graph until the mid-1990s. But once the Buckeyes hit the list it is a quick ascension thanks to guys like Cris Carter and Terry Glenn who paved the way for other stars to excel in Scarlet and Gray.
The time-lapse stops in 2024 with Ohio State topping the list at 117,696 yards according to Deeg. LSU likes to stake claim to being the most productive program when it comes to producing wide receivers, but the Tigers come in at No. 3 on the list. The Miami Hurricanes sit at No. 2 but are more than 15,000 yards behind Buckeye receivers.
Take a look at the interesting graphic below.
The Hurricanes aren't likely to catch Ohio State on this list anytime soon and the Tigers have the horses to close the gap, but with what the Buckeyes already have in the league and with what is coming, the men in Scarlet and Gray should stay on top of this list for the foreseeable future.

Tigers' Dillon Dingler, Zach McKinstry pull off ridiculous lucky grab in blowout win over White Sox

Zach McKinstry somehow managed to catch a foul ball that bounced off of Dillon Dingler's glove in the Tigers' blowout win over the White Sox on Monday night. () Dillon Dingler and Zach McKinstry teamed up for what could easily be the luckiest grab of the MLB season on Monday night. The Detroit Tigers teammates, in the fifth inning of their matchup with the Chicago White Sox, ran to try and catch a foul ball popped up by Joshua Palacios that was headed toward the dugout. Advertisement But as Dingler slid to try and make the grab, he just barely mistimed the catch. The ball bounced off his glove and back toward an unsuspecting McKinstry, who somehow managed to make the catch and complete the out. McKinstry could only stand there and laugh once he realized what he had done. Hey, whatever works. The play was just part of what ended up being a blowout win for the best team in Major League Baseball on Monday. The Tigers cruised to the 13-1 win over the White Sox, thanks in part to a huge showing from Kerry Carpenter. Carpenter hit three home runs in the contest, which made him the first Tigers player to hit three in a single game since 2016. He hit a solo shot in the first inning at Rate Field, and then followed it up with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. That second dinger put the Tigers up 8-0 at the time. Advertisement Then two innings later, Carpenter hit a third homer to center for good measure. White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. nearly robbed that one, but he couldn't quite climb up the outfield wall enough to reach the ball as it crossed over. The White Sox fell to 18-42 with the loss, which marked their seventh in their last eight games. The Tigers now sit at 40-21 on the year. They've lost just once in their last eight outings. While it's still early June, the Tigers are making an incredible early push in the American League. If Carpenter keeps it up, and they manage to keep pulling in ridiculous catches like they did on Monday night, there's no telling where the Tigers will end up in a few months.

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Last season, the Detroit Lions were the best team in the NFL. Heading into the playoffs, many thought that a Super Bowl run would be in store. Unfortunately, in their first matchup in the divisional round, the Lions were defeated by Jayden Daniels and the red-hot Washington Commanders. That ended what had otherwise been an amazing season. Heading into the 2025 campaign, Detroit is looking to finish what it started last year. In order to do that, the Lions will need to have as much talent as possible on both sides of the football. Adding more depth would be wise as well after all of the injuries the team dealt with in 2024. Head coach Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions celebrates after his team's touchdown against the Chicago Bears during the third quarter at Soldier Field on December 22, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. USA Today analyst Tyler Dragon has connected Detroit to Za'Darius Smith. Of course, Smith finished the 2024 season with the team and played well after being acquired from the Cleveland Browns before the trade deadline. "Smith is at his best when he plays opposite a standout pass rusher at this stage of his career," Dragon wrote. "A sign that points right back to where he played last year in Detroit. Lions star edge Aidan Hutchinson was cleared to return for football activities in late May." Following his trade to the Lions, Smith played in eight games. He racked up 12 total tackles to go along with four sacks and a defended pass. In the previous nine games with the Browns, he totaled 23 tackles and five sacks. Depending on the price tag, Detroit should seriously consider bringing him back. Having too much depth is never a thing for a Super Bowl contender. Smith is about as good as pass rushing depth can get. While the Lions may not have interest in reuniting with Smith, he fits well with the Dan Campbell mindset. His career is also winding down, which would make returning to Detroit and competing for a championship a likely route he'd be interest in taking. Eagles Affected By Two Latest Retirements

Eagles Affected By Two Latest Retirements originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Eagles have already said goodbye to one of their Super Bowl heroes this offseason. Now, they have to say goodbye to another. Advertisement Ronald Darby, the starting cornerback for the Eagles through 2017-2019, has announced his retirement from the NFL after a 10-year career for teams like the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos, and Washington Commanders. Philadelphia traded for the former second-round pick out of Florida State weeks before the start of the 2017 season. They made the move to bolster their secondary by trading away fan favorite receiver Jordan Matthews. Darby hasn't been a member of the Eagles over the last five seasons, though. There is another retirement announcement that greatly affects their title defense. Frank Ragnow, the All-Pro center of the Detroit Lions, announced his retirement from the league after seven seasons with the team. Ragnow is only 29 years old … but physically done with the game, he says. Advertisement Detroit has lost a ton of coaches this offseason. They saw both play-calling coordinators leave for head coaching positions, and now have lost a vital part of their offensive line. An Eagles fan wish? The Lions should take a step back next season. Ragnow's departure might confirm that. Philadelphia may have finished second to Detroit in the NFC standings last season, but many picked the two teams to be among the most talented teams in the sport. While Philadelphia has lost plenty of stars on their roster, they don't come close to the kind of impact that Ragnow had. Ragnow and Darby. Two players that affect the Eagles in more than one ways. One's retirement comes as he is seen as a hero for the city. … The other's may just give the Eagles an easier chance to repeat in 2025.
