Last Updated:
Nyra Banerjee shared that casting directors often said her look suited South Indian films. She initially resisted, despite being compared to legends like Sridevi.
Television actress Nyra Banerjee, also known for her work in South Indian cinema, recently shared her experiences with casting directors. She revealed that early in her career, she was often told that her physical appearance suited roles typically seen in South Indian films due to her face and body.
Nyra said, 'I always heard casting directors say, 'Tumhaara face and body South Indian films ke lie perfect hai.' I was a little voluptuous and not so skinny at that time. Yeh log bol lete hain muh par ki aapka face and figure South movies wala hai. I said that I don't want to do it. I have never even seen a South film. A casting director took Sridevi and other legendary actor names, explaining how South Indian films are also good."
She shared that when she returned home and told her parents about the offer, her father refused, while her mother advised her to forget about it, as they didn't have anyone to turn to for advice.
Nyra added, 'They also said that if one of them is travelling with me to Mumbai and overlooking, then it's worth giving a shot. Because astrologically, several pandits had already destined that this girl will definitely do something in the creative field, she is very good at fine arts. That's how I did Kadambari, a Sanskrit TV show."
The actress revealed that South Indian cinema is incredibly competitive. When she started receiving significant film offers and lead roles, she chose to turn them down to focus on her studies. Many questioned her decision, telling her, 'You're choosing studies over acting? What nonsense?"

Producer Naga Vamsi drops a cryptic Sanskrit clue, hints at Jr. NTR–Trivikram mythological film on Lord Karthikeya
Picture Credit: X There have been multiple rumors for a long time regarding the Young Tiger Jr. NTR collaborating with director Trivikram Srinivas for his next film. While there hasn't been an official announcement just yet, a cryptic post by producer S. Naga Vamsi seems to have confirmed the news. Today, on June 11, Naga Vamsi took to social media and posted a series of Sanskrit slokas referencing the god of war—Karthikeya, also known as Skanda and Murugan. His post in Sanskrit loosely translates to English as, "He is Kartikeya, the great commander, born of the divine spark, the six-faced one, son of Parvati, known as Skanda, the commander of the celestial army, and the bearer of the Raghu lineage's honor." He later also added, "I worship the protector of the worlds, who rides a peacock, is the essence of great philosophical truths, the enchanting one who dwells in a beautiful land and whose mind is deeply profound, the great Lord of the Lords of the earth, embodying the essence of the great Vedas, the beloved son of Mahadeva (Shiva)." While he did not mention any names, the timing of the post—just as rumors of Jr. NTR's casting began to surface—has led many to believe that the actor is indeed leading the mythological drama. This collaboration would mark Jr. NTR's second outing with director Trivikram after their successful 2018 film 'Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava,' which was both a critical and commercial success. Earlier, Allu Arjun was widely reported to be attached to this project. However, a 123Telugu report suggests that the project has taken a new direction with Jr. NTR being brought on board. If the film indeed revolves around Lord Karthikeya, it would be the director's first mythological film.

Meet Jayasudha, Amitabh Bachchan's onscreen wife from the iconic 'Sooryavansham'- Lesser known facts about the actress
We've all seen Sooryavansham — the iconic film that dominated our TV screens for years, almost becoming a part of our daily lives. Even without naming it, the story of a strict father, a quiet son, and a love that spoke volumes in silence is etched in our memories forever. While Amitabh Bachchan 's towering performance remains unforgettable, how many of us truly know about the woman who played his devoted on-screen wife? Meet Jayasudha — the lesser-known but equally fascinating chapter of this cinematic legend. A superstar in the South, Jayasudha's portrayal in Sooryavansham still resonates with audiences. Yet, her real-life story has often made more headlines than her filmography. From her early days as a teenage debutante to becoming a leading figure in Tamil and Telugu cinema, Jayasudha's journey has been anything but ordinary. Her personal life, however, has been a rollercoaster that the media couldn't stop tracking. Jayasudha's first marriage in 1982 to film producer Vadde Ramesh ended swiftly in divorce. She later found love with Nitin Kapoor, brother of Bollywood star Jitendra, and married him in 1985. The couple built a life together, raising two sons who eventually followed their parents into the film industry. Tragedy struck in 2017 when Nitin Kapoor reportedly died by suicide, after a battle with depression. Left to raise her sons alone, Jayasudha showed remarkable strength in navigating life's harsh turns. Years later, her name once again lit up the gossip columns when reports of a third marriage at the age of 62 surfaced, allegedly to an NRI. But Jayasudha was quick to set the record straight. The man frequently seen with her, she clarified, is a filmmaker keen on producing her biopic — not her husband, as widely speculated. While often compared to contemporaries like Sridevi and Jaya Prada for her grace and pan-South appeal, Jayasudha has always stood apart. Her versatile performances, spanning decades and languages, have cemented her as a true cinema icon — even if her off-screen life has sometimes stolen the spotlight. Behind the Sooryavansham wife lies a woman of resilience, grace, and quiet stardom — a story still unfolding, and one that certainly deserves to be told.
