I'm a Plus-size Travel Writer, and These Are the 10 Budget-friendly Clothes I Pack on Every Trip—From $9
After much trial and error as a plus-size travel writer who is often on the go, I discovered some great pieces from Amazon's fashion hub that are just right for traveling in the spring and summer. From a striped summer dress to pull-on travel pants, these are the versatile travel plus-size clothing essentials I find myself packing again and again. No matter where your summer travels are going to take you, you can't go wrong with these must-have pieces.
These eye-catching pants are flowy and dressy. With an elastic high waist and drawstring, they always fit just right, and they have a loose, wide-leg design. Pair them with a crop top to create a summery, casual style. Alternatively, wear them with a solid, black button-down shirt for a business lunch or dinner. And, perhaps best of all, they have pockets to hold your essentials to go hands-free at the airport.
With its lace, scooped neck, this striking tank top is casual with pizzazz. I love its loose, flattering fit and breathable, soft fabric; it's perfect to wear traveling on a hot summer day. If you love to layer, it makes a great bottom layer under a cardigan or jean jacket if it's on the chillier side. This shirt is elegant and will elevate any look, pairing well with shorts, jeans, or capri pants.
I love matching sets because they work as one outfit or can be mixed and matched. This matching set is available in neutrals like black, khaki, and apricot, plus bold colors like hot pink and royal blue to suit any style. It's extremely comfortable with its lightweight material and four-way stretch. The short-sleeve, crewneck top is loose, and the pull-on pants are comfortable and have pockets. It's great to wear on flights, but it's so comfortable you might want to also wear the set as pajamas.
A jean jacket is just right for the summer. You never know when temperatures might dip, especially at night, and this denim jacket can offer just enough warmth to keep you comfortable on cooler evenings. It has a collared neckline and a button-up front, plus decorative front pockets and fully functional side pockets. In addition to the traditional denim hue, this jacket also comes in fun colors like pink and purple. It can make a fashion statement in other ways: I decorate mine with pins that have different messages and images on them.
Sometimes a comfy jumper is the best choice for a day of sightseeing or just relaxing at the hotel (one of my favorite travel activities). This overall-style jumpsuit looks cute and is flattering to all. Because it's made of polyester, it doesn't wrinkle easily, so you can just throw it in your suitcase and take it out when you arrive without worrying about ironing. I love that it comes with so many different color options and patterns to suit any style.
There's a great sale on this Hanes shirt that's one of my favorite tops to wear when flying. Although I enjoy dressing up and wearing sparkles casually, I want to keep things simple and optimally comfortable when I'm flying. Made of 100 percent cotton and available in five simple colors, it's a comfortable, casual shirt I can wear anywhere. This shirt pairs well with leggings or jeans on travel days, or you can dress it up with a blazer or a skirt.
Whether I'm going on a short or long trip, a comfortable pair of jeans always makes its way into my suitcase. These Levi jeans have been top on my list lately—they have stretch for comfort and are easy to pack without getting wrinkled. They fit so well that I feel more confident when I wear them. And at just $25, they're a total steal; grab them in another huge like sage green or a darker blue wash.
I try to always have a wrap with me when I fly, especially if I'm wearing short sleeves. For me, a shawl is an essential part of layering during the warmer months of the year because it's so easy to take on and off. This wrap resists wrinkles, so sometimes I just throw it in my backpack if I'm on a flight and realize I don't need it. It comes in a wide variety of colors, including pastels and darker colors. I especially love the shawl's flexible design: wear it open or pulled closed.
If you're looking for chic, casual tops for the summer, consider this bold, blue shirt. I love that it has fun touches like a ruffled V-neck and gathered sleeves, and it has a soft fabric that feels good against the skin. Plus, it's perfect for warm-weather travel because it's lightweight, and it doesn't wrinkle easily, so it can save you time on ironing.
These lightweight cargo joggers are lightweight and breathable, making them ideal for travel days. The elastic waist and adjustable drawcord are convenient features if your weight fluctuates like mine does. They have two side zipper pockets and a right-hip zipper pocket for safely storing valuables like your phone or wallet. The UPF 50+ and water-resistant fabric also make them the perfect hiking pants or for lounging on the beach when you don't plan to swim.
Here's a comfortable dress that's stylish and always seems to inspire joy when I wear it. I love the classic A-line style with a V-neck and loose, short sleeves. I recommend sizing up because it seems to run small, and the fabric doesn't have a lot of stretch. It is lightweight and wrinkle-resistant, too, so I love that I can easily pack it, and it will be ready to wear when I get to my destination. It's a great dress for resorts, in particular, where it can be worn to a nice dinner yet also by the pool during the day.
Ready to have the summer of peace, love, and understanding? This fun, floral peace sign shirt gives off those vibes. I love the peace sign design and matching stripes at the bottom of the long sleeves. The pullover shirt is lightweight and soft, but it can keep you warm on cold flights. If you like layering but don't want anything too heavy, this is a great option to wear over sleeveless summer tops.
This colorful, striped dress just screams 'summer fun' to me. It has a feminine style with its frilly sleeves and high waist, plus a lightweight, slightly stretchy design. The wrinkle-resistant material is key so it easily unfolds to offer a ready-to-wear, pulled-together look. Depending on how you style it, it could be dressed up for date night or worn casually with a pair of sneakers.
When traveling to beach destinations and other spots where you'll be spending lots of time in the sun, protective clothing is a must. I love that this rash guard shirt looks like a regular shirt I can wear anywhere, but it also functions as a swimsuit top. It is made of a stretchy, wrinkle-resistant material, and it's comfortable to wear with its four-way stretch. It comes in a variety of colors and patterns. More importantly, the shirt offers UPF 50+ protection, so it helps protect you from the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays every time you wear it.

Two-Night Minimum Las Vegas
The Venetian Resort Las Vegas If you want to judge Vegas hotels based on value for money, the Venetian easily takes first prize. Since 2024 (its 25th anniversary), the World of Hyatt-affiliated property has invested some $1.5 billion in beautifully renovating its more than 4,000 rooms. But the most wonderful thing about the Venetian is that it can serve as whatever version of Vegas you want it to be. Looking for the kitschy glamour of gondoliers paddling through indoor canals? You've got it. Prefer a quieter version of luxury? The club lounges are like VIP hospitality suites lofted high in the towers. You can also dial the Vegas vibe up or down at 11 different pools. And then there's the restaurants, largely spin-offs of beloved global institutions like Jose Andres' Bazaar Meats and an offshoot of Manhattan's Korean steakhouse Cote. Don't sleep on homegrown Nomikai, a speakeasy sushi lounge with buzzy late-night ambience; it's hidden just off the casino floor. Rooms from $182 (including resort fee) Source: The Venetian Wynn Las Vegas Wynn's sleek, swooshing façade belies the whimsy just inside: The minute you step through its doors you'll find a bursting faux-flower forest with playful sea-themed mosaics curling along the floors. It's unequivocally the city's premiere high-end stay, with keen attention to detail and oodles of good taste. Dinnertime dining is Wynn's strongest suit. Standouts include Delilah—a sultry supper club complete with lounge singers, feather-flaunting showgirls and a menu of high/low crowd-pleasers, be it crab legs or chicken tenders—and the seafood-themed Pisces, where tiered seating faces the property's Lake of Dreams. (The manmade pond doubles as an entertainment venue, with regularly scheduled multimedia shows.) Don't miss the caviar bumps, served theatrically on fish-shaped crisps in a little pond of steaming black pebbles. Rooms from $226 (including resort fee) Photographer: Brandon Barré/Wynn Bellagio The centerpiece of the Strip, the Bellagio lives up to its legendary reputation. Book a main tower room with a bird's-eye view of the fountains; I never tired of watching the choreographed geysers splash from above. A morning meal at Como, the hotel's poolside restaurant, is the Strip's best leisurely resort breakfast. The pool experience is also top notch: Expect a bevy of unreserved lounge chairs and an army of diligent servers who carry your Aperol spritz with the perfect amount of Vegas swagger. But another (less sexy) benefit is the way the Bellagio seamlessly connects with Aria and the Cosmopolitan through indoor walkways, creating one über-resort that's easy to explore on foot. Pro tip: A new partnership with Marriott Bonvoy means you can use your points for all sorts of extra perks, like priority check-in, Cirque du Soleil tickets or, most audacious, the opportunity to choreograph your own fountain show. Alaska Airlines selects Starlink, the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky, to launch new era of connectivity
Alaska is poised to offer the best inflight connectivity service from Seattle, delivering ultra-fast Starlink Wi-Fi on more departures from the carrier's largest hub than any other carrier. Building on Hawaiian Airlines' lead as an early innovator of fast, free Wi-Fi, Alaska will start offering Starlink in 2026 and bring the technology to its entire fleet by 2027. Starlink's unrivaled gate-to-gate speed and responsiveness across multiple devices allows guests to stream, scroll, game and stay connected just like they would on the ground, no matter where they fly. SEATTLE, Aug. 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Alaska Airlines is set to launch a transformational upgrade to the inflight experience: the fastest, most reliable Wi-Fi in the sky on every flight, everywhere we fly. Starting in 2026, Alaska guests will enjoy Starlink Wi-Fi with ultra-fast speeds and dramatically lower latency – unlocking seamless access to live gaming, real-time messaging and high-quality streaming across multiple devices, far beyond what most carriers can deliver. This isn't just an upgrade – it's a reinvention. Alaska is set to bring fast, responsive and reliable Wi-Fi to its fleet starting in 2026, with all aircraft – regional, narrowbody and widebody – connected by 2027, alongside our Hawaiian Airlines Starlink-equipped aircraft. Alaska will provide the most flights from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport offering unrivaled end-to-end Starlink Wi-Fi and become the first U.S. airline to operate Starlink-equipped long-haul flights from the city. Following Hawaiian Airlines' groundbreaking launch last year as the first major airline to offer Starlink, Alaska and Hawaiian are redefining the future of inflight connectivity. "With Starlink already live on Hawaiian Airlines and installations starting this winter across Alaska's fleet, we're proud that we'll offer the fastest, most reliable inflight internet in the skies – with gate-to-gate connectivity on nearly every aircraft across both airlines," said Ben Minicucci, chief executive officer and president of Alaska Air Group. You'll enjoy the same fast, uninterrupted connectivity you rely on at home – stream, game, message and collaborate in real time. Plus, it's free to our most loyal guests, thanks to an exclusive partnership we just announced today. This innovative enhancement is part of Alaska's multi-layer vision to deliver a truly elevated travel experience for every guest at every fare. From unifying loyalty into a single, seamless industry-leading program, to launching a premium credit card with unmatched travel perks, and now, bringing home-quality internet to the skies globally, even on full flights and in remote areas. "We're thrilled to provide reliable high-speed internet on Alaska Airlines' flights," said Chad Gibbs, Vice President of Starlink Operations at SpaceX. "From gate to gate, Alaska's passengers will now experience the world's best inflight connectivity." Alaska's Starlink Wi-Fi: Fast, free, everywhere we fly Real-time, ultra-fast speeds: Starlink's low-latency, high-bandwidth performance is built for real-time applications like workplace messaging platforms, collaborative documents, video streaming, gaming and multi-device use. It offers an inflight internet experience that's faster and more capable than what most travelers are used to. With latency less than 99 ms and speeds up to 500 Mbps, guests can expect an experience that's at least 7x faster than the geostationary satellite-based Wi-Fi systems that most airlines use today. Global coverage: With more than 8,000 satellites in orbit, Starlink provides uninterrupted connectivity for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines' guests, keeping them connected from the moment they step onboard their aircraft and throughout their travels, even in remote areas. In 2026, Alaska will be the first U.S. airline operating long-haul flights from Seattle offering consistent, uninterrupted Wi-Fi service – a key pain point for many international travelers today who lose coverage or experience decreased speeds as their flights take northerly routes to Asia and Europe. Leader in innovation: As the only airline with a hub in Seattle to offer Starlink Wi-Fi, Alaska continues to lead the industry in innovation. In addition to bringing the fastest inflight internet to the skies starting in 2026 with completion by 2027, Alaska has recently introduced the TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID Program, offers an industry-first food and beverage pre-order system through its mobile app, and a self-serve check-in experience that starts before guests even reach the airport. Sustainability in the skies: Starlink's electronically steered antennas feature no moving parts and have a much smaller footprint atop our aircraft than competing systems – reducing both weight and drag that impact fuel economy. This new technology, featuring the lightest equipment in the industry, will help us further reduce carbon emissions by conserving over 800,000 gallons of fuel per year, advancing our position as the most fuel-efficient premium U.S. carrier.
